Perfect Location for Family with Young Kids

My second time staying in 20 years using Compass Realty and staying at Truman Annex was just as nice as I remembered. The condo was clean, and everyone in our group had a wonderful stay. We loved the view of the water and Truman Park from the balcony, which was just as beautiful at night as during the day. The area was always very quiet and calm-a big contrast to the action only two blocks away on Duval Street. We rented bicycles at WeCycle, which is located near the Annex entrance, as we didn't have a car. We biked or walked everywhere we needed to go in minutes: Fort Zachary Taylor, Higgs Beach, Sandy's, the Cemetery, and even the grocery store.

Great location and very roomy!

Great location! Very clean property

This property was in a perfect location…walking distance to everything. Very spacious and nice condo. Only concern was that you were locked in on the premises and had to have keys for everything. Our keys did not work well for all gates and it would’ve been helpful if they were labeled. Other than that, we loved this condo and the property!

Forever Young May 2022 Rental

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The process of renting with Compass is great and we love the location, however, we would look for another property to rent the next time. The shower still leaks all over the bathroom floor, the remotes were missing batteries, the handles on the faucets were coming apart and the iron didn't work well.

Great location but Terrible Unit

Rating Details: The property manager was somewhat unhelpful. The vacation rental was very dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Location was great with everything within walking distance. The unit itself left much to be desired. The place is filthy, has an ill equipped kitchen with unmatched, chipped dishes & accessories that making any type of meal preparation challenging if not impossible. The beds are lumpy, the linens are threadbare with an assortment of unmatched, smelly towels. The entire lot needs to be tossed. The lighting is difficult with numerous recessed lights burned out or not working. The bathrooms & particularly the tub/shower combinations reek of visible mold & mildew. While my family had a wonderful time in Key West I cannot recommend this unit to anyone. I tried to address some concerns with Compass Realty the 1st morning of our 7 day stay but a work order was either not written or addressed during our stay.

More for the Elderly

The name Forever Young is quite misleading. There are many rules in this complex. We were reprimanded by our neighbor on the first day in the hallway for being noisy. We were talking as we were entering our condo! Quiet hours are after 9pm. Pool closes at dusk. Kind of difficult to watch the place next door having so much fun in their pool nightly. You can hear it throughout the evening. Wonder how my neighbor feels about that. There is a sign on the livingroom table that tells you to keep your partying to Duval. There's a sign by the thermostat not to put air below 74° degrees. The unit will freeze and you'll be responsible for the charges. However, it can become quite warm in the condo. The ceiling fans are all so noisy you cannot sleep with them on. The bathrooms fans are also very loud! Except for livingroom and kitchen, the rest of the condo needs updating. Especially the guestroom and hallway bathroom. There's peeling paint, cracked tiles, dirty grout, and the towel rack is about to fall off. The guest bedroom is very small. The one bed is up against the closet which makes it difficult to open. Door falls off easily too. We woke up to no water in the condo for several hours. When I called the rental company they didn't seem to know anything about it. But after speaking to the plumber outside he said the building was notified the week before. Water was turned off again for testing a few days later. Again we weren't notified. We paid a very high cleaning fee for a 2 bedroom condo. We stayed 2 weeks and never saw a cleaning lady. The floors were filthy when we got there. The best part about the condo is the location and the pool. You can watch the sunset when you go out the back of the building. Our balcony faced the side of the next building where they stored their gardening tools and extra chairs. The balcony is very narrow and could use a good cleaning! The pool was large and had a great view. We met some nice people. We would not stay in The Harbours again. It's definitely for a much older crowd. The full time residents don't seem to like having the condos rented out. That's just my opinion. However, we do love The Truman Annex and would go back to staying in the townhouses.

The entire Truman Annex was a beautiful environment, with blooming bougainvillea and many varieties of palm trees. The condo itself was clean and well appointed. The Compass staff was very helpful.

Parking was a problem as we had a truck that fit just fine but they would not give us parking pass as they said it was oversized. The property itself was fine except no PANTRY which made it hard to store stuff. The next door neighbors smoke pot all hours of the day and night so the facility smelled the entire time we were there. Other than that it was a decesnt property. Better instructions could have been given to find the place. WE FINALLY RAN ACROSS SOMEONE STAYING IN THE BUILDING THAT DIRECTED US THERE.

Cohen - Forever Young Rental beginning 11/12/2020

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We've stayed in Forever Young numerous times. The unit is in a great location for us, however the unit needs some maintenance. The shower has leaked every time we've visited and needs to be fixed. The fixtures in the bathrooms are not working great and the sheets on the king size bed don't fit and were falling off every night. The top sheet was thread bare. We come down numerous times a year and for our next trip, we selected another unit to see if it's more updated. The staff at the rental office were excellent in all interactions. We had to call for a repair on the disposal and they were very accommodating.

Truman Annex/Forever Young Condo

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The property was well equipped with linens and towels including beach towels. It was also very clean. I was happy to see the new living room furniture, not what was pictured. The TV in living room was adequate size but was not high definition and therefore the screen and reception was of poor quality. The unit is quite old. The biggest complaint would be a coat of paint throughout the entire unit and new caiulking in the bathrooms (removing mold) should have been high priority and could of made the stay more enjoyable. The location was perfect and the heated pool was a big plus! The shower heads needs adjustments and the fan in half bath was so loud you could use earplugs! These issues come under maintenance and not housekeeping! The view was obstructive and would chooose a different view if given a choice. Truman Annex is my location to go and Compass Reality was nice to work with again.

We had the pool to ourselves most of the time. The location can't be beat! There's easy access to all the fun Key West has to offer but is quiet and secluded when you return to the property. The covered parking spot and bike racks are bonuses. The property management staff was friendly, helpful and responsive. The check-in and check-out processes are smooth. We would definitely rent this unit with Compass Realty again!

Best Location

Pros: This unit was extremely clean and comfortable. The location could not have been better. Pool was warm and enjoyable. We would gladly stay here again. Cons: There was no toilet paper when we arrived. There were only a few wash cloths. We had some trouble getting our parking pass. No one was at the guard shack when we arrived and when we called the posted number the person told me to "come back tomorrow". I went back a few hours later and there was a different person working who gave me the pass. There is always a guard there at night. Texts and phone calls to the renter with questions were never returned.

Amazing place!!! Will book here again.

Great spacious living and sleeping areas. Great bathrooms, soak jet tub and showers. Third half bath was handy. Great amenities in the kitchen. Pool and views were breathtaking. Only criticism: They were unfortunately doing some construction in the condo above us the week we were there but that I’m sure couldn’t be foreseen or advertised by the lister. We did also book an extra day that was astronomically expensive considering the condo wasn’t booked for the next week. We figured they’d want to make a little money for an extra day than no money at all, we were wrong. Overall great experience from booking to checkout! Thank you Compass Realty and VRBO!!

Great location, great place

We had 5 adults and fit comfortably. It was great to have a full kitchen and washer/dryer. There were more features than what was listed. The location was walking distance of all the key tourist attractions, but not too noisy at night. Also had some great extras like beach towels, folding chairs and cooler that were handy for a beach vacation. Would absolutely recommend.

Great location

Condo is a short walk to Duvall, close to the pier and the only good beach on the island. Would have liked a key to get through the gate directly to pier instead of walking around the corner but still super close so the location overall is very convenient. Condo is well set up with the 2 bedrooms and 2.5 bath, enjoyed having that extra bathroom. Mattresses were not the best and probably need replacing. The cleanliness of the place was mostly ok, minus light plates’ fingerprints and food smears, under the keurig week’s worth of coffee stains, and the toilet that didn’t get flushed after it had been used. They sent the maid back same day so response time was great, but in today’s time of promised superior covid cleaning, we would have liked to not encounter those particular issues. But overall, we did enjoy our stay and it was a good condo.

Fantastic Location!

Condo was in Fantastic location! Walking distance to 90% of every place we went. Great restaurants near by. My only disappointment was the lack of a grill. I would have loved to have grilled some fresh fish.
