Family vacation home in Waves NC

My family of 8 went to Waves, NC for the first time and we had a great experience! The house was very clean and spacious. Having 3 king beds and a room with 4 twins is great for a big family! The house was very well equipped with kitchen equipment and checking in/ out with the app was really easy too! The house is also in good proximity from the beach which is nice! We also really enjoyed the outdoor shower and appreciated having a hose to clean all off all of our beach stuff.

First time in OBX

Tinker's Toy is a beautiful home about 6 houses off the beach. The neighborhood is quiet. We particularly enjoyed the fooaeball table, hot tub, and outdoor shower (with hot water). This was our first time to the Outer Banks and despite the flooding rains we had a great time!

Home away from home!

Our second year in a row. New rental company and assuming new ownership of home as all the personality and personal art and photos are missing of Tink and and family. We were greeted by a buck in the driveway upon arrival, SURPRISE! Still a lovely, fully accommodating home to provide a great beach vacation. Short walk to beach too.

Catherine by the Sea was the perfect home for our family of 5. A short walk to the beach. The roof top deck with views of the sound and the ocean was the perfect place to watch the sunset, see the stars and have happy hour each night. We also enjoyed sitting out on the screen porch and rocking in the rocking chairs. We had a wonderful week here and enjoyed every minute of our vacation! Best family vacation in years!

Great location. Everything you need to know about staying here is in the literature they send you. Read it and you will show up prepared. Loved the jacuzzi and fuse ball. We were able to see 3 separate sets of fireworks while in the jacuzzi. Plenty of little shops and places to eat. Also Having more than basic cable was a fantastic bonus for the one rain day we had. Highly recommend staying here. Oh boy I almost forgot to mention the outside shower the kids were in love with it. Not going to lie I loved it too.

Excellent communication by outer beaches realty

The house was just as described with ample space for our whole party. Beds were comfortable and the house was very clean upon arrival. The beach is a short walk down the street and then a hike over the sand dunes. The top deck was perfect for star gazing. The hot tub stopped working on night two of our stay and Outer Beaches responded to my inquiry within an hour, notifying me that someone was on their way. A motor needed replaced to which they sent out a professional to drain the tub, make the repair, and refill it. All done while we were enjoying the beach for the day. Excellent communication and updates each step of the way. Very happy with our stay and would come again!

We had a great stay at Bodie`s Anchor. The condo was in a great, quiet location at the very end of the island next to the Ocracoke ferry docks. Beautiful views. Short walk across the street to the beach access. The beach was not crowded. The pool area was nice. There were grills available at the pool area. There is also laundry available on each floor. It is right next to a couple of shopping options and backs up to a marsh and boardwalk that backs up to the sound. It was very clean and had a well stocked kitchen, especially for an efficiency. We did have some wifi issues and a very late check in. Overall, this was a great place to stay for our family--my husband and I and 2 girls (12 & 8). I am actually going to recommend it for my parents! This review was submitted while the home was managed by a different property management company.

Waves home

The hot tub smelled very strong when opened up and it dyed my daughter’s hot pink top to purple. It had a defined line where the water was. Needs to be more towels than the exact number of people staying especially when there is a hot tub. Beach towels would have been a nice addition. Cleaning staff need to be more attentive upon looking further we found a baby pacifier and a doorknob in a jar in a bedroom. Also with two garbage can we had one garbage bag, nothing in the one under the cabinet. A spare garbage bag would be nice to be included with the starter pack. The upstairs bedroom curtain to the hot tub is full of water stains. I will add photo of swimsuit top if able later as it’s packed and we are traveling.

Relaxing Winter Getaway

Tinker's Toy was a good place for a relaxing winter getaway. Close enough to stores/food for convenience, but far enough away from the hustle and bustle. It was quaint and quiet the first few days we stayed before some louder neighbors arrived. The best part was watching the stars at night in the hot tub after a day of golf. We appreciated that it says they change the water after every guest! The only issue we found was the jets on one side didn't seem to work. Relaxing none the less! We did not see a way to access the beach from the end of the street, but we drove to one of the many beach access spots with a nice boardwalk so no big deal! Be careful in the bathrooms/showers and be sure to bring a bathmat or extra towel to place on the floor because the tile floors are slick when getting out of the shower. The bathrooms could have been cleaned a bit better as there was some dead gnats in the floor and shower when we arrived. The kitchen was spacious and well stocked. The complimentary starter kit of house cleaning stuff was a nice touch. Only thing missing was some slightly bigger bowls for the morning cereal, but if you need anything, the dollar store is close by. Some people may find the beds uncomfortable. We only stayed in the main bedroom, but I did find the bed a bit uncomfortable as someone who prefers a firm mattress. Overall, it was a very relaxing stay and we would recommend it!

Great family trip

We had a great time renting this house.. Rodanthe is quieter than some of the towns north, and while there are fewer places to eat/play, we wanted something more laid back and less crowded. We always had tons of space to ourselves on the beach (access is right at the end of the street), and enjoyed playing foosball, lounging in the hot tub, riding hoverboards under the house, and biking on the path along the main road. We also went fishing at Rodanthe Pier, and did a day trip down to Hatteras/Frisco. The house was very clean when we arrived. We would highly recommend that the owners get keyless entry - we had to go to the rental office to pick up the keys, and at 7pm they were not in the box where they were supposed to be. So we had to call and wait for someone to bring them. This would be much easier with a simple keypad lock. Also, FYI this is a "no linens" rental (at least that's what Outer Beaches told us). This was not mentioned anywhere on the VRBO listing, so we were surprised to arrive at a house with no sheets or towels. Fortunately, Outer Beaches took pity on us and gave us some sheets, and then we bought towels at the Dollar Store. It would be much better just to include the linens - and at a minimum, make sure that renters are aware of the situation (I sent two notes through the VRBO listing asking about this exact issue before we left, and no one ever responded... also no one responded to my comment on the Facebook page). This is not in any way ruin our trip - we had a great time. But the communication does need to improve.
