Our house was originally built for a person in a wheelchair, and we’ve found that the accessible design makes it an easy and comfortable space for all people and pets to stay with these features:
- no steps in the house, other than the front porch
- all doorways are 36” wide
- grab-bars in both bathrooms
- bathtub transfer bench
- concrete ramp to the side door gives easy access for wheelchairs and strollers
- retractable baby gates on the porch and ramp keep children and pets safe as needed
