The Space:

Saltbox Lodge is an idyllic mountain retreat nestled in picturesque Windham with mountain views and easy access to skiing. Wrapped in warm natural wood siding and surrounded by serene scenery, this charming cabin features hardwood floors, a striking brick chimney, and an elevated deck that overlooks a peaceful woodland setting with a fun and unique lounge net built right in.



On the main level, guests are welcomed into a bright, open great room filled with natural light. Vaulted ceilings with exposed wood beams create an airy, lodge-like atmosphere, while expansive windows and sliding glass doors frame beautiful mountain views. Comfortable seating surrounds the brick fireplace, making it the perfect spot to unwind after a day of outdoor adventures. The dining area flows seamlessly from the living space and features a large wooden table with seating for six, ideal for family dinners, game nights, or leisurely breakfasts. Adjacent is the fully equipped kitchen, with white cabinetry, warm wood trim, and a central island with bar seating for casual dining or morning coffee. Sliding glass doors open directly to the outdoor deck, inviting guests to enjoy the surrounding nature.



The upper level offers two bedrooms that share a full bathroom with a shower/tub combo. The primary bedroom includes a queen-size bed and a vanity that doubles as a workspace with a built-in sink, while the second bedroom features a queen-size bed and a crib, perfect for families traveling with little ones. Two additional guest bedrooms and a bathroom with a walk-in shower are located in the basement. The first bedroom offers a queen-size bed, while the second has room for a crowd, with two bunk beds and a dedicated work desk. A third bathroom with a shower/tub combo is conveniently located on the main floor.



The basement is a kids’ haven filled with toys (ages 0-18), puzzles, games, a tent, a telescope, books, a PlayStation 4, WII, and a Guitar Hero for endless family fun. This level also features a cozy lounge area with a TV, a work desk with a monitor in an open space area, and direct outdoor access.



Outdoors is designed for easygoing mountain living, boasting a spacious deck with a fire pit for starlit gatherings, extra lounge chairs for sunbathing and picnic blankets for lazy afternoons. Lounge in Adirondack chairs, unwind in the hammock near the fire pit for ultimate relaxation or enjoy al fresco dining while savoring meals from the grill.

Saltbox Lodge is under 3 hours from New York City. A car is essential for getting there and exploring the area. The main access routes are the I-87 S, NY-23 E and Taconic State Pkway. We strongly recommend a 4x4 or a car with four-wheel drive, especially in winter, to handle snow and gravel roads.



The Amtrak train station is 40 minutes away.
