Our property is very unique and isolated. It is almost always windy and very quiet. You can sleep with the windows open and not be disturbed by dogs or traffic, but possibly an occasional coyote howl or our resident Geese that stop by every spring and raise their little ones.
We have purchased adjoining property as neighbors decided to sell off. This was to ensure there would never be other homes surrounding us. We’ve accumulated about 50 acres total of woods and pastures and guests are free to roam and explore as desired. As avid hunters, the absolute abundance of wildlife here sets this area apart from most places. Deer, bear, turkey, Bobcat and Coyotes are plentiful. Deer and turkey can be seen around the property on most days. While there are many bears in the area, they do not like the open pastures surrounding the barn, but we do see them occasionally in the timber or wandering around the pond. Bears are little to no threat unless they have cubs and are being harassed or feel threatened.
The two lane county roads surrounding us are great for bicycling or motorcycle rides. There are few straight aways or level ground, so an E-bike might be in order. With a ground elevation of 3200 feet, our temps are typically 10-12 degrees cooler than places like Greensboro, Raleigh or Mount Airy. We hope you come and enjoy all that Meadows of Dan Virginia and The Barn at Windy Ridge have to offer.
