this was the first time our group rented this house. the location was great and the elevator was a game changer as several of us have health issues. It could use some updating as far as furniture and the kitchen could be better stocked (we had to purchase a potato peeler and can opener). The addition of a Keurig coffee maker would be helpful (we bought one from home to use). All in all, this house met our needs and we enjoyed our stay so much that we've already booked it for 2026.

Been to OBX 14 times and this is the best rental home we have stayed at. Large, clean, beautiful home just 100 feet from beach access walkway. Pool and hot tube were both very clean as well.

Our stay at License to Chill

We had a wonderful time, but we did have some issues, but the property management staff were very helpful and worked with us and fixed our issues. It was our first time at OBX but would definitely recommend this property, it was a beautiful house and a great location.

The house was perfect for a large family. TV was a little difficult to operate. Dish washers didn't always clean completely. House should have an outdoor table with chairs. . More chairs are needed by pool and second deck.

Great House in Ocean Sands South

Great house with thoughtful layout and spacious upstairs and downstairs. Very well kept with good amenities, no deferred maintenance, and great aesthetics. Perfect location, a short walk to the beach. The location in Ocean Sands South is a gem, lack of though streets means less vehicle traffic and beach crowds than Whalehead.

With Covid 19 we did feel like you lose a day (leaving so early on Saturday). What a wonderful time! The grill had not been cleaned and there was much liquid qccumulated so we did use like we had planned. We would consider doing a two-week stay in the future, time flies :) Thank you

The house is great but just a few suggestions. They do not supply any dish cloths or dish towels. They could use a few extra bath towels. Drain board for kitchen. A toaster oven would be a welcome addition. Other that those items everything was great.

Great Time

The place was great. Everyone got their own bedroom and bathroom so there wasn't a need to share the bathroom. Short walk to the public access where the beach is located. We definitely made use of the pool daily along with the hot tub. Had a great time every morning watching the sunrise and having coffee on the top deck. Short distance to Harris Teeter for food shopping instead of heading more north to Food Lion. Overall it was a great return back to OBX (last time was 9 years ago) and had lots of laughs and memories.

Overall, the house was nice and met our families needs. However, there were a few things that could be updated in order to make the week much better. The main issue was the kitchen utensils. There were only a few skillets and most of them were older skillets that had teflon flakes coming off of them.

OBX 2022

The house was very nice, but not cleaned very well. Empty chip bag behind nightstand. Sand in pool and Hot tub when we arrived. (Maintenance did come and clean it). We had to keep adding water to the Hot tub because it leaked. A few minor issues, but overall we had a great time and would stay here again.

Goor Upgrade House House For Our Family

We had been renting Spin1 (On Sail) for several years. However, a combination of deteriorating Spin1 upkeep, lacking furniture and our family outgrowing the house had us look for and finding License To Chill. It is obvious that this house has had good upkeep to flooring, decks, water heaters, etc. Having two dishwashers is definitely a plus for a large family. In general, the house is quite nice and we plan to rent it again. The main two negatives about the house is the main front steps that definitely need to be replaced and the lawn thorn/brier weeds that puncture people and dogs feet.

The only downside to this property (and reason for the lower rating) is related to the over abundance of pet hair. I can understand that there would be some pet hair to deal with—since it is a pet friendly rental, but what we found seemed extreme. We have been in other pet friendly rentals before and have never seen it this bad. We swept multiple times (starting the evening we arrived). Since there is an extra pet fee I would assume that it would go towards extra cleaning (at least a deep cleaning once a month during peak rental season). I think the one person cleaning staff that was there the day we arrived did as good as she could have considering she was just one person and had limited time. Everything thing else about the house was great (including beach access and the rental agency).

Rating Details: The property manager was adequately helpful. The vacation rental was very dirty. I was more than happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: It's really a shame this property isn't taken better care of. It has some great things going for it (location, pool, great decks, size) but the upkeep is just neglected. The carpet was stained and very dirty. The air intake vent was disgusting. We found holes in the walls as well. The couches are in desperate need of an upgrade and the bedrooms really could just use a more up to date vibe / new bedding. While we made tremendous memories in this house and love so much about it - you want that "vacation" feel when you are spending a small fortune. We just felt this house is trying to skirt by without the investments that would make it great. If they want to keep charging the current rate they're going to have to upgrade a few key areas on the inside. Shoreline wasn't easy to work with at all - and the check in process was confusing at best. There is an app that gives a code that doesn't work and you have to call only to be told they really still want you to come in to check in. Why have an app!? And in this day and age an app & house code really is standard for checking in. We called multiple times leading up asking questions they couldn't answer (like does the house have a highchair or porta-crib). So frustrating. Fingers crossed 2016 will bring new things for License 2 Chill because it truly is a wonderful home.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review and let us know how your vacation experience was at “License To Chill!” We are sorry that the app wasn’t working properly for you…we actually use the same app that many other companies use on the OBX, so we’re not sure what the problem might have been. We are happy to report that the homeowners are making some improvements and updates to the house this winter, including but not limited to new flooring on the top level, a new stove and 2 new dishwashers! They have also completed many general maintenance items around the house, so the house is going to be fresh and ready for the 2016 season!

Needs a deep cleaning. Fans thick with dust, couches could be cleaned. Kitchen needs pots, broiler pan, skillet, .....I couldn't even find a spatula. The flies were a real problem. The grill was so dirty it wasn't working....they did come clean it..but lost two evenings of grilling. The pool liner should also be replaced. I was told this house will go to Twiddy next year...don't know if that is a good or bad thing. The layout of the house was perfect for us...too bad we had the other issues. Spoke with a lady from the Shoreline and I found her nasty. She said there was no help in cleaning these houses and it was what it was. The houses were booked every week and there was no time to do any deep cleaning and since I was nearing the end of the season ...she wasn't surprised about my complaints. I told her I paid good money for this house and all she said was ...honey it's going to be 2000 dollars more next year...like I should feel lucky about the money I paid.

The location of this home is awesome! It has plenty of room for our party of 20! However, we were sadly disappointed by all the items throughout the home that were in disrepair. Including many things in the kitchen, mini blinds through out, decking, and various others. We stayed here 2 years ago and it seems like things have gone down hill. All and all we had a great time but it was a bit discouraging.

The house itself was fantastic, but the hot tub was not working for most of our trip. We went for Easter and paid to have the pool heated which was also not working until our 2nd to last day. We spent 5 of our 7 days dealing with maintenance. We were told we'd be compensated by the realtor, but the owner is failing to respond to their request. It's a shame as the house itself was exactly what we needed for our large family. We had planned to rent it again, but will now reconsider due to the lack of response.
