We liked the unit and it's location, it hasn't been updated for some time. We reported a problem with the bathtub, water came out of both the shower and tub, the lever was stuck. It wasn't fixed while we were there. Blackout curtains are full of holes, cabinet hardware is broken. A few inexpensive updates would make the unit nicer.would make head same time,

Can’t go wrong with the Whaler

We booked room 656 at the last minute. Staff were lovely as usual, but unit is in serious need of refurbishment. Great location toward front of tower on the 6th floor, but bathroom is in sad shape. Carpets need to be replaced or deep cleaned, kitchen cabinets are in need of repair. Unit is well stocked with supplied for living as well as for the beach. Just needs to be updated - a full remodel would not be out of place, but probably to expensive given the current economic climate. All in all, we DID enjoy our stay

Amazing views from the large Lanai and in a great location!

I would recommend this unit to others and would stay here again. The views are amazing from the Lanai and unit is in a great location! Right next door to a number of restaurants and shopping, and the Luau we went to was just a short walk to the Sheraton at Black Rock. The unit itself was pretty dated and could use some cosmetic attention but we were comfortable. The bathtub didn't drain very well and the AC unit in the bedroom helped with airflow but wasn't pushing cold air. A few things that would have been nice to know before our stay (didn't see these things in the description) is that there is a washer and dryer inside the unit, along with some beach chairs/ umbrella and boogie boards and some sand toys for the kids- we ended up renting these items through our car rental on Turo, but they had some in the unit for use. There are also onsite beach equipment rentals and free-to-use beach chairs near the pool area. The pool was nothing fancy but a nice place to cool off, and the hot tub was nice at night. Our family of 4 didn't have any issues getting poolside chairs any of the days we were there, in other places we have stayed this was always a bit of a challenge. There aren't onsite food and beverage services but you are allowed to bring your own to the pool, just nothing in glass. They also have BBQ areas on both sides of the pool. Something to know if you are bringing kids, the pool is 5-6 feet deep throughout. The staff and beach at the Whaler were great!

Awful property management

The Whaler is a wonderful facility, great location & we will happily stay there again. However, I strongly advise booking through different management. This unit is represented by Chase N Rainbows & our experience could not have gone much worse. We were scheduled to stay 11/28-12/3. We were told that "There may be times during the day that lanai may not be accessible" this proved untrue. Our unit was under construction & we learned from on site personnel there would be work on our unit & the lanai would be inaccessible for the entirety of our stay with the view blocked. In addition, they would be grinding, spalling, sealing & painting the concrete roof of the lanai, as well as the exterior, which would result in off gassing. We were scheduled to stay there with our 1 & 3 year old, & the check in staff advised us not to expose our children to the work. The listing was misrepresented, as was the scope of work. I emailed property management immediately with pictures. No response. I called later that day, they did not follow up. I offered alternate solutions, they were inflexible & stated that any cancellation would result in zero refund. I had to find alternate accommodations on the same day, which cost my family a full day of vacation. The staff at The Whaler itself could not have been nicer & they even tried to find us an alternative & communicated directly with Chase N Rainbows. We will definitely stay at The Whaler again, but never through Chase N Rainbows

Great view

Great 1 bedroom condo with a breath taking view. From the balcony(lanai) you can see the ocean, beach, black rock, and 2 islands Lanai and Molokai. Furnishings are older but well kept. Condo could use some minor repairs. But still cozy and comfortable. It also had beach chairs and toys for the sand. Full kitchen and flatware, plates, cups, glasses pots and pans.

The property was more than adequate with a stunning view from the lanai. Overall the property is a little dated, mainly in hard floors and carpet. Trim and doors need some paint also. Other aspects of the condo such as bedding, towels, etc. were fine. Spent 7 nights here and were happy with our stay.

We loved our stay!!

Four girls stayed here and we loved everything about it! The location is unbeatable the view is beautiful, it’s right next to the best beach witch is also good for snorkeling (so many fish and turtles by the rock). Having whalers village just steps away and full of so many shops and restaurants was a huge bonus! The condo was clean, there was 8 towels and the kitchen was full of all the essentials for cooking. The space is bigger than it looks in pictures and everything worked great! There is a hole in the shower ceiling but it’s not a deal breaker. We loved our stay and will for sure be looking forward to coming back!

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We love the location and would stay here again. we are not picky. As an owner of rentals I would want to know the issues with this unit. They are listed below:1) Sliding doors to balcony have a wide gap at the bottom. Doors need new rollers. AC does not shut off when doors are open.2) Some lighting in the kitchen does not work.3) There is no venting for the dryer in the laundry room.4) Electrical panel buzzes when using hairdryer.5) Missing/Damaged ceiling tiles in the bathroom.Some of these issues deal with safety issues and should be fixed.

Great location and view!! Moldy Old Condo

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Upon arrival at the Kaanapali Whaler, we were greeted by a nice front desk person. The property is beautiful on the outside with lovely grounds and nice lobby. We were escorted by a staff member who brought up our luggage. All was nice until we enter the condo on the sixth floor. The carpet was pretty dirty. I tried to clean some of the gross spots. It got worse from there. The laundry room smelled very moldy and I’m sure it was because there was mold growing on a few large bottles of water and who knows where else. On the the bathroom. This was unbelievable and so unacceptable. The ceiling panels were broken with two of them down. Above that part, there were three or four wires hanging down into the shower area. We called the property front desk and they sent someone up immediately. He put the wires up but left the ceiling exposed. We tried to put up some of the panels ourselves but they wouldn’t stay. After some complaining, Chase n Rainbows sent a few guys to come to fix the electrical and put the ceiling panels back up. Great! After my shower, as I was getting out the ceiling fell down again just missing me!! This was our Maui dream vacation in a gross condo that smelled like mold and a bathroom that was really dangerous to use. I will never use this rental company again and I think we need some compensation in return in the form of a large discount. I would recommend to my friends to stay at the Whaler, but not at that unit. Book through Aston!!

Love the Aston Whaler

Initially I thought oh oh . I had to use the restroom right away and first thing I did hit the bathroom. The drop ceiling panels to hide all the electrical wire’s were all exposed. Also the satellite /cable did not work (not a biggie cause we were in Hawaii to watch TV … but still) …I emailed Chase-n-rainbows and told them. They emailed back saying they would let maintenance know. No further correspondence from them the days we there. All in all the condo was very nice the Whaler itself is AHHMAZING! Next time I will definitely book through Costco or the Whaler directly to get what I pay for..

Fantastic

This condo does not get enough credit. Sure it is a little dated, but aged like fine wine. The location is absolutely superb as it is within walking distance of everything: the beach (which is a beautiful beach and don’t need to go to other ones), stores, fine dining etc. The whaler grounds are really nice and there is a nice size pool, which we didn’t use as we opted for the beach and ocean. The condo itself was clean and had a lot of amenities that were a plus, the deck had a great view of kaanapali beach, and the bed was comfortable. I would recommend anyone stay here.

Our experience at the WHALER 656 UNIT

Rating Details: The property manager was somewhat unhelpful. The vacation rental was very dirty. I was happy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The condo does not look anything like this picture. We were deceived checked in and. The carpet was absolutely filthy.Called Ashlee the property manager and it took 4 days of our vacation to get someone to clean the carpet. Carpet cleaned half way decent and thenThe spots started appearing again.There is mold in the bathroom and on the back Of the curtains,I took pictures and would like for you to see how bad this place really is.It should go off the rental pool and have a real cleaning with new carpet a remodel of bathroom and new drapes installed.It was our 54Th wedding Anniversary and it wasn’t pleasant.We feel Chase and Rainbows should reimburse us some of our money for the inconvenience.Please let me know where I send the photos to.

Some good - some not so good…

I booked this property based on the 5 star ratings…and then, once we were past cancellation, there was a 1 star rating. That was VERY concerning to me! What we found was actually somewhere in between. Without a doubt, this property could use some love. It’s dated and the kitchen and bathroom need some attention. (But not as bad as the 1 star review would have us believe). For the people renting in late May or June 2022…stop at Walmart and buy a shower curtain liner. I’ve no faith that the mgt company will have done this since it’s the same issue as March…and it is moldy. But, if the bathroom light won’t come on (because the mgt company hasn’t changed the ballast in the light yet) just flip the switch on and off several times quickly and it will come on. It’s not a short in the switch as mentioned below. Now for the better part…the Whaler grounds are immaculate and the location is PERFECT for watching the sun set. There are restaurants and shopping right next door, so convenient! The bed IS comfy, the sheets and towels are so clean, and there’s a full size washer/dryer just in case. The condo has everything you need for vacation living and the view is amazing, no matter what the carpet looks like. We had an amazing week and you likely won’t be sorry to have picked this listing.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: There are a number of reasons we rent this condo. 1 - is the location (to the beach and food). 2- the great view from the lanai. 3 - cost. One negative is condo is showing it age, but the plumbing works and the bed is very comfortable.

Beautiful house

Rating Details: The property manager was adequately helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: It was perfect vacation home. the house has enough space to accommodate 4 people. As it was just me and my husband, we felt it was little overpriced. Management is very strict about the check-in time. They didn’t let us in even 10 mins earlier than the recommended time. However, Location is amazing.. lots of restaurants near resort. All amenities are great. Would recommend.

Pictures do not give accurate representation of property

There were multiple problems. pealing paint. warped counters and cabinets. Mold growing on bedroom wall. electrical short in light switch in bathroom. Plugged drain. Very stained carpets. I have pictures, if you would like to see them. Rental co. gave us a 10% discount but they were not very understanding. We should have received a bigger discount.
