PERFECT TAOS STAY!

Kitchen was fully stocked with anything you would need. Back yard views were beautiful! Hot tub was amazing. The subdivision was quiet and perfect for nice walks. House caretaker was easy to get ahold of if we needed anything. 10 billion stars on this vrbo!!

Great 2-family ski house

Just finished a 5-night stay (March 2024) with 2 families skiing at Taos. The house is very clean, comfortable and convenient, located in a quiet neighborhood close to the ski mountain road and a 15-minute drive to Taos ski village. The house has great views towards the mountains and lots of windows. Furniture, linens, etc were very comfortable but not so fancy as to induce anxiety. Kitchen was very functional and fairly well stocked. The house was the perfect size for 2 families of four. We would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful House that Needs Some Updating

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was our second month-long stay at Casa Illuminada. The house is in an ideal location, and nothing beats the gorgeous El Salto mountain right outside the window. Nice, quiet street, and spacious and lovely house. The property manager does a great job in preparing a clean and ready house, and the house is well appointed. However, the appliances are older and often don't work properly--dishwasher leaves grit on everything, washing machine stops mid-cycle and has to have the lid weighted to keep working. These kinds of things detract from the overall experience, as do loose tiles on the floors and peeling stucco out back. For the price, these types of things should be repaired and this type of updating is essential. It's a gorgeous spot and overall a comfortable house, but its due for some TLC.

The property had adequate amount of space for our visit and was very homey feeling. Sunrise and sunset views were breathtaking. There was plenty of kitchen supplies, blankets, towels and TP. We enjoyed making dinner and sitting at the dining room table as a family everynight. My kids liked playing in the snow. We especially liked that its very close to the main road up to Taos Ski Valley. I think the only slight downfall was the beds were hard and somewhat uncomfortable, but overall we would recommend this home and would stay there again.

Some of the pillows are a bit dated from use and could use some upgrades, especially on the daybed. Since the front of the house gets the most sun and wind, consider providing a blower to remove rocks and debris. The TV could be bigger and newer. The house was very comfortable and we enjoyed it otherwise and would like to return in the future.

The view is incredible and we were able to cook and enjoy our Christmas meal in the kitchen. Problems: Living room furniture could use an update. Water pressure in kitchen sink and master shower was bad. We contacted our local contact about replenishing supplies like toilet paper, paper towels, and laundry detergent. She never responded.

A Beautiful Spot Beside the Mountains

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We fully enjoyed our stay at Casa Illuminada and look forward to being back in the future. The house is spacious and comfortable, with staggering views of the mountains. We enjoyed having access to the community pool and tennis courts and the convenience of being just a few minutes from the ski valley and downtown Arroyo Seco. Each night we'd walk out to Rim Road to watch the sunset and meet neighbors--some residents, some visitors. The house manager was very responsive, and the house is stocked for a comfortable stay. I will say that its years of being rented are starting to show--there are some loose tiles in the floors and the patio could use a paint job. But overall it's thoughtfully outfitted and a beautiful place to settle in for a stay in the Taos area.

Review of stay at Casa Illuminada

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Started out with issues with the requirements for pets, required that they be keep in cages when we were not at the house. Reason was the furniture and cleaning issue. It should be pet friendly or no pets. Once there the furniture was not at a level of I consider very new....but we managed with well trained dogs not to allow them on the furniture. Overall stay was good had a couple of issues the infloor heating had an issue before we arrived... it took a day to catch up... space heaters made it comfortable till it caught up.Did have a smoke issue with the main fireplace after a heavy snow, I think that was do to the chimney cap being off the (sitting on the deck), it cleared . Location was good, neighborhood was nice and quiet. Not a very big TV for watching any sports... but you should be outside.

Lovely home in a great neighborhood

I had stayed at Los Altos previously but found this home to have a better location as it backs to the mountains. The sunrises are spectacular. The home is great for a family…I was joined by my daughters and their husbands and my two young grandsons. The kitchen has everything you need to cook a little or a lot. The bedrooms are spacious and the property manager was highly responsive. We enjoyed our stay immensely.

Family getaway

We generally go to Colorado, but wanted to go somewhere new and likely less crowded during the pandemic. We wanted something convenient to the local attractions but also somewhat secluded and private, at least 3 BR, 2 BA, a private hot tub and a kitchen to prepare and enjoy meals. Casa Illuminada filled our needs. The location of the home was awesome to get to Taos Ski Valley while also being reasonably convenient to get to Taos Plaza, restaurants, and grocery stores. There was a mix up with the local caretaker of the property. She was unable to properly clean the home before our arrival. The management company helped us immediately and she was able to return to the home in an effort to properly prepare the property for our stay. That said, the first impression wasn’t what you would like and tarnished our opinion of the properties cleanliness and overall fit and finish relative to a luxury vacation rental. The location and layout of the home are magnificent, but it could use a few updates before I would recommend it’s as a luxury rental (e.g., fixtures, furnishing, bedding, and a few other maintenance items).We were happy with Premier Properties response to our concerns during and after our stay. They were responsive,understanding, and professional.

Do Not Rent This House!

We found droppings on the floor, furniture and beds. We left Wednesday but had paid for three more nights. The owner and Premier Properties refunded less than 1/5 our payment.. We left Wednesday.We had paid for 3 additional nights.

Great Views and Location, Property Needs Updates

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The views from Casa Illuminada were great and the layout of the house was comfortable. Unfortunately the house itself needs updating and had the following issues: non functional blinds on several windows, screws all over the front and back patios (we had to pick them up so we did not step on them), wasp nest in the fascia with lots of wasps (we had to spray it to enjoy the outside patio safely), loose floor tiles throughout the house, gas grill was not hooked up properly (we hooked it up correctly so we could use it), furniture well used (not the cleanest or comfortable), old appliances (functional, just old), exterior wood was rotting (needs to be fixed and resealed), front doors had a large crack (you could see daylight). We still enjoyed our stay, but for the cost we expected the property to be in better condition. We have stayed at other properties for a similar cost and they were in way better condition.
