We enjoyed our stay overall. There were some issues with the electric turning off for 30 minutes at a time on multiple days due to the power grid in the area but this was out of the owners control. The room we stayed in was nice and bed was very comfortable. The A/C worked well and kept us cool. The water pressure was low for our liking but did work. The property is beautiful and the pool is nice! The vegetation has grown in some but does look about as pictured. Skip was our host and was very nice and helped with anything we needed. His dog Doobie was the best! He was a great guard dog and kept the iguanas away! We were also able to feed some of the spider monkeys while we were there. As other reviews stated it is tricky to find. Google maps will take you the wrong way. Ask the owner for directions beforehand. The dirt road to the back entrance is a little sketchy but manageable. Just not your normal driveway. You are in the jungle! The little bakery next door has the most amazing fresh baked bread! This is a must try while you are there. We ate breakfast there everyday during our stay. The small dinner restaurant in the other direction is also very good but we only got to eat there once. It was closed the other days so check their hours before making plans. One last thing to point out. There are 2 gas stations right before the entrace. DO NOT go to the the first gas station. The attendant stole our credit card number when refueling our rental car.

Exceeded Our Expectations

Hacienda Xcaret is truly one-of-a-kind—unlike anything we've experienced before. Absolute satisfaction! Esther and Glen went above and beyond with their communication before, during, and after our stay, making everything seamless.When we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by Skip, who lives on the property. He gave us a great tour and shared helpful tips about local restaurants and nearby activities.The pool was the perfect way to unwind each evening, often while spotting monkeys and iguanas in the surrounding trees—a real treat!The location is ideal, within walking distance of Xcaret, Xplor, Xenses, Rio Secreto, and so much more. We’re already making plans to return next summer!Huge thanks to this wonderful family for making our stay so memorable and special!

Home is in a great location. Close to the Xcaret parks and 10mim from Playa del Carmen.Host ( Glen) and staff ( Esther and Angel) are incredible. House is surrounded by a beautiful variety of trees and plants.Georgeous.

A True Paradise in Playa Del Carmen

From the moment we arrived, our stay with Esther and Skip was nothing short of enchanting. Their warm welcome and genuine hospitality made us feel right at home, and it’s safe to say we were absolutely charmed by this little slice of paradise.Though finding this beautiful hideaway took a bit of navigating at first, it quickly became part of the adventure. Nestled within a secure, gated community, the peace of mind and tranquility it provided were exactly what we needed after our daily excursions.Esther and Skip went above and beyond as hosts, offering incredible recommendations that made our time in Playa Del Carmen even more special. But what truly stole our hearts were the two sweetest pups, Doobie and Tootsie. There’s nothing quite like coming back to happy wagging tails and the delightful surprise of them popping out from the jungle brushes to greet us. Their joy was infectious, and they added such a unique and unforgettable touch to our stay.This trip became even more memorable because it was part of our engagement love story, and Skip played a beautiful role in that chapter of our lives. This place is a hidden gem!!

If you want tranquility minutes away from the city, Hacienda Xcaret is the plaxe for you! Glen and Esther are amazing hosts. They and their staff were available for any of our needs and even provided information about the area for local excursions and restaurants. It is very convenient to get to town, but far enough away to have tranquility. We felt safe and welcomed. The architecture was designed and built by the owner and has many aesthetically pleasing designs. The grounds are well maintained and full of wildlife. We enjoyed watching the birds, iguanas, and monkeys. The pool was just what we needed to cool off after a hot day in the sun. Although we didn’t get a rental car, there is parking available. We will definitely return to Hacienda XCaret and highly recommend them for your stay!!

Homey digs in a jungle paradise!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Esther and Glen's property near Xcaret! The home itself was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed. The location was inspiring, being in the middle of the Mayan jungle near Xcaret. I wish I had a soundtrack of the lovely night time jungle sounds! The pool is a gorgeous oasis, and we enjoyed our encounters with the local spider monkeys! The hosts are wonderful people and were always ready to help with whatever we needed. My only tip is to bring a few groceries with you if you plan on eating in, as there aren't many shops within walking distance. I would definitely recommend staying here, and we can't wait until our next visit!!

Relaxing vacation spot

We just returned from a fantastic week at this beautiful property. We found it easy to access nearby cenotes and beaches and Skip recommended the best places for food and activities… far better than what we had planned! 5 minutes from Playa del Carmen and all the amenities but feels like you are out in a jungle oasis. The rain showers were nice, the staff are lovely and cleaned our room when we needed it touched up. We had a studio with kitchen and were able to cook anything we wanted with the dishes and amenities. We also had access to the large family-style kitchen. We will be back soon to stay again!

Great Location, Super Clean, Perfect Getaway!

This was our first VRBO experience and it set the bar VERY high. This property was nestled in a jungle setting yet extremely easy to find and quick to get downtown Playa. We rented a car and weren’t in Mexico to lay on the beach all day, we had a list of adventures and this property location was central to them all. We arrived late in the evening but were warmly welcomed by one of the property owners. They live on site and are very accessible if you need anything at all (laundry, pool accessories, beach chairs, etc). I will be recommending this place to anyone I know going to this area. So amazing!

Perfect in Every Way

My friend and I both booked rooms at Hacienda XCaret and we could have not been more pleased. Glen and his family were very warm, welcoming, and accommodating. We loved our little jungle hacienda and are already planning our return trip. I especially loved my personal little hammock. My room was everything I could want and more; and I really enjoyed the little touches that showed that Glen and his family really care about your stay, such as the 6-pack of beer, the pastries, and the can of bug spray. Thanks so much for an unbelievable, incredible, and perfect little weekend in Playa Del Carmen. See you again soon :)

Simply amazing

Geat place hosted by a friendly family with two young kids. Perfect if you have a car. If not, i would advise going somewhere else, unless you plan to spend all your time in the Xcaret parks, which are at walking distance (we could litterally hear the people screaming on the ziplines in Xplor park!). Otherwise, the setting and the rooms are simply beautiful and well maintened. The hosts even put in some beers, water and milk in the fridge prior our arrival!! Can't beat that! It is a very relaxing spot, with lots of vegetation, a nice pool and places to rest and enjoy the sun. You're in the jungle but close to everything. We could hear the cars on the main road but the jungle setting makes you forget everything else. For animal lovers. Hosts have 3 friendly dogs and a lovely cat. Spider monkeys paid us a visit every single evenings we were there. This place is a good alternative to an appartment in playa del carmen if you have a rental car. Much more relax and an amazing place for the price. Would go back anytime.

The apartment is beautifully decorated, the bed comfortable, the kitchen well-outfitted, the bathroom impeccably clean and modern. Coffee, milk, beer, and water provided were welcome upon our late arrival. Even better than the apartment and the grounds are the friendliness and attention of the owners. Thank you both for your kindness and your advice about what to do and where to eat in the area. We hope we are able to come again.

Secluded jungle paradise

Hacienda Xcaret -the grounds are a diamond in the rough. The lush flora is dotted with tropical fruit and vines that seem to grow overnight -privacy isn't a concern and the property is secure. -the architecture of the studio made the casita feel regal. -as far as transportation goes, there is no need to worry. The collectivos were easy to navigate and everyone is eager to help if you are confused -the owners were super accommodating and hospitable Tips -take the bus into town and grab some groceries. Make some guac, salsa and throw back some cervases. Bring tote bags. -experience Xcaret and be able to come back to the house midday to change for the night show. Get the dinner, you won't regret it! Thanks again, we will return in the future!

Jungle paradise!

Absolutely what I was looking for, this Hacienda is heaven. From the moment we arrived we were treated like family.... the owner Glen's dad, Skip greeted us at the gate and helped carry our bags to our amazing jungle accommodations. The pictures are spot on. The high ceilings only add to the amazing details of this one of a kind jungle hideaway. The kitchen and dinning island are unique and well appointed. New appliances and beautiful use of stone, wood and tile. The bedroom was spacious with beautiful furniture and a very comfy king size bed. The bathroom shows off Glen's unique artistic flair. After a quick tour around the grounds... we were invited to share dinner with the family and their friends. How cool was that! The pool area is tropical, private and very relaxing. All in all... this place is special and if you are looking for a unique, laid back experience you won't be disappointed if you stay here. You litereally can walk to Xcaret and or Xenses parks as well. ** If you do plan a stay.... bring a can or 2 of Bush's Baked Beans...They can't get them down there and the family loves and misses em! and tell them "Trisha" sent you. :)

Paradise Found!

If you're looking for tranquility, in a tropical setting, then this is your getaway spot. We were searching for a quiet and relaxing week's vacation, removed from the hustle and bustle of the larger resorts in Mexico. We came across this listing and to be honest, the photos looked too good to be true but in fact, it was paradise found! The owners could not have been more accommodating and hospitable. They offered suggestions for getting around town using local transportation --including bicycles! They advised us on which sites see and what tours to take, as well as where to find near-by 'locals' beaches and restaurants. It was like having a personal concierge service during our entire stay! The property was comfortable and very well-maintained. The owners went above and beyond, making sure we had everything we needed for a magical visit in paradise!

Independent holiday with no hustle or bustle!

This super clean 'cute' apartment in the jungle is perfect for the couple who do not want to be swept up in the all inclusive packages. We chose not to rent a car and thus the 5 minute walk to catch the local transportation was super. We caught the bus most days to Playa, Akumal, Tulum and Xpu Ha with no issues at all, even getting to the stage where we could say where we wanted to go in Playa, not just to the centre!. The hosts were very helpful and knowledgeable about the area. The only down side is that you could not walk to the beach (on the map it is a 10 minute walk but the hotels stop you from walking to the beach) and there was no local restaurants or bars to walk to (we just stayed in Playa in the evening and caught the bus home). If you want to just relax and read then this is the place to be and the hammocks are surprising very comfy!

A beautiful jungle paradise

We spent 9 days in lovely Hacienda Xcaret during our Christmas break. It is a very relaxing place located only 10 minutes away from Playa del Carmen. We were looking for a quiet and peaceful place with some independence and this is exactly what we found. The studio has all the amenities that we needed. We enjoyed sitting in front of the studio listening to the water fountain and the sounds of birds and also cooling off in the pool after riding the bikes or going to the beach. The hosts were very kind and cheerful and they were always willing to help and to make us feel comfortable. They made us feel like home and treated us as friends. We highly recommend Hacienda Xcaret for future guests looking for a quiet getaway but close enough to enjoy all the tourist activities in Playa Del carmen and Mayan riviera. We will definitely recommend it to our friends in Canada.

Hacienda Xcaret

Before entering the property we had our doubts, the exterior being a bit overgrown and under developed. But as soon as you step thru the gate, you enter a tropical garden oasis. The pool is beautiful - both visually and swimmably. The owners are simply lovely. Warm, friendly and honest folks with a lot of experience in Mexico. The room was large and private. The shower - divine! The drive to Playa took about 8 minutes, but to have the peace and quiet of the garden oasis, the small inconvenience of driving was worth it. Oh, and we chose Hacienda Xcaret because we have a small dog, so we needed a pet friendly hotel. There is a beautiful walking/jogging path made by Xcaret just a short walk down the dirt road that leads into the property. All in all a relaxed, pleasant stay in a beautiful spot. Thank you Hacienda Xcaret. We'll be back.

Beautiful and secluded

Hacienda Xcaret is beautiful, the interior and exterior details of the apartments are luxurious and very comfortable. The pool and patio area are lush and well cared for and certainly were a welcome oasis to the flurry of tourist activity around Playa Del Carmen. We really enjoyed just sitting on the patio listening to the early morning birds and late evening quiet. The only notes I will pass on to future guests is that this location is within earshot of Xcarets zip line facility and you can hear people from that facility as well as see lights from the 'volcano'. Also there is some major construction occurring in this area so we did have to contend with the construction noise, however you heard none of this noise from inside the apartment so the inconvenience was negligible. I would recommend this location to anyone who has a car and doesn't want to stay at the massive vacation compounds in the area. We really enjoyed the convenient location and ample amenities.

This place was amazing!

We were afraid that we would be far from the beach, but we were in a secluded jungle paradise. The owners are Californians, very gracious and generous. The beauty was unbelievable, beautifully designed and decorated! It amazes me that I even found a place like this. We were only a few minutes from Playa del Carmen, but well away from the hype and hustle. We would recommend this place highly, and this will be where we stay when we come to this area again!
