Thanksgiving at the Beach

This was a great beach house for our family Thanksgiving getaway. The main areas were spacious, not crowded like some beach houses. The screened porch across the back was a relaxing hangout. And of course a private walkway to the beach!

Nice place

The house is clean, accommodations are adequate and the house met our needs. I wouldn’t do my laundry there or plan on watching TV in the 2nd bedroom because it’s gone. I think some upgrades could be made for the weekly fee. Plus, in order to find a decent restaurant, we went over to South Port and ate at the Frying Pan. It was DELICIOUS!!!!! You won’t be disappointed.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Can’t beat the location and this is our second time staying here. Other reviews said the place is dated, which is true, but I couldn’t care less about that as long as it’s clean which it was. New pans would be appreciated though since almost all were unusable. It can get a bit loud bc it’s on the main drag but it didn’t really bother us. Amazing beach and close to a few shops and restaurants at walking distance. My only other critique would be to ask management/owners to spend 3 extra dollars and provide paper towels and more than one toilet paper roll. These small things go a long way w guests. No one wants to drive hours to a house to find no paper towels. Thank you for a great stay!

Nice place right on the beach

Rating Details: The property manager was somewhat unhelpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Great location and perfect size for our family. Overall it was clean and we felt satisfied but we did experience some problems which is why I only rated it a three. We don’t need a lot of bells and whistles but I think there could have been a bit more in the house. No paper towels, only one extra roll of toilet paper, only two dishwasher pods, very old pots and pans. The pillows need to be replaced but overall the sheets were clean and the towels were clean and abundant. We had some issues w bugs and the property managers were horrible to deal with while we were there but it was still an overall good experience and I would go back. In the end the manager took all of our concerns into account and I felt heard by her. Lastly, the property is on a main street so it was a bit loud but it seemed worse on the weekends.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The view from the deck is spectacular and the water pressure in the shower was great. Unfortunately those are the only nice things I have to say about this house. It was definitely NOT worth the money to rent. The house has been poorly maintained, giant cockroaches in laundry room dirty ceiling fan, black mold around air conditioning vents. Maintenance came to fix a bed that we didn't know was broken but no one called to let us know he was coming. The man used his key to get in and scared my mother who is recovering from a broken leg and couldn't answer the door. I highly discourage anyone from renting this house. I will find a new rental agency if I decide to return to the area.

Great location

It is away from major traffic and right on the beach. Was the home clean and in good shape? This is the only area with complaints. We had a child and a toddler with us. I have pictures to show, but can't attach them here. There were rusty screws exposed in a rocking chair and on the screened porch supports. One of the kitchen chairs constantly had a leg coming loose. The cooking items are old and the non-stick is peeling making us unwilling to use most. There was very little in the way of cleaning supplies such as dish soap, d/w detergent and trash bags. We had to buy more. I would have made these comments privately, but this response does not allow that. Was the vacation rental management staff helpful? We did not interact with mgmt except for check-in/out. They were quick and polite on both interactions.

Comfortable beach house and good location

The good: Check in was easy, however it is somewhat inconvenient to check in at the property manager office then go to beach house. Ebbtide beach house is comfortable and cozy, the kitchen is very well supplied with everything you need except the food. Full range of linen is supplied as well as TVs and internet. Private walkway right to the dunes is nice. Central location is great for things to see and do (i.e Aquarium, State Park, Southport Ferry, Battleship North Carolina). The staff and maintenance folks were fast in there response and friendly. The not so good: Unfortunately there has been dredging going on so crab and shell hunting was pretty much a non starter. There were however, several issues that could stand to be addressed. The sliding door latch was broken and required use of a piece of wood to secure the door. All of the stools at the kitchen counter were ripped and taped. All outside chairs were damaged in some form. The screen on the porch was pushed out in places. The gate on the bottom of the back outside stairway had broken hinges. The shower under the house was very hot water only and the hose cold water was a piddle trickle at best.. The above items were all relatively small issues, but should be addressed, they result in a rundown appearance overall. Two of my bigger concerns with this house were the stepdown out of the sliding door onto the porch and the back door of the porch, it opens out immediately onto the steps which is inconvenient and coming from the beach up the stairs is somewhat dangerous, our seven year old nearly fell backwards down the stairs twice while opening the door. Restaurants in the Kure Beach area were ok, we ate at Mackerel Jacks (flounder was mushy) and Havanas (mushy fish, slimy cole slaw and indifferent server), neither place I would eat at again,. Finally we went to Southport for a restaurant and the Provision Company was 5 star. Parking in Kure Beach is a pain to put it mildly. Mostly pay to park and several places have vehicle length restrictions which do not accomodate a full size crew cab pickup.

Pleasant Stay

We loved the house all except for the steps going down to the beach were a bit awkward and troublesome. Plus, the hose to wash off was hot water and you stepped right back into a mud puddle. One of the TV's in the bedroom didn't work - it was quite old and it made a terrible noise when it was turned on, so my family wasn't able to use that TV at all. It was somewhat inconvenient to turn the keys into a realty place. We have always been able to use a key pad to leave. Otherwise, we had a great time. The weather was beautiful, we love Kure Beach and we will definitely be back.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Ebbtide! The location was great and the house was really comfortable and spacious. We would absolutely (and hopefully will) stay there again.

The property was clean and basically had everything one needed.

We had everything we needed inside since we cooked most of our meals at home. We will definitely be going back and it was the perfect size for our group of 6.

Location and photos are exactly what you get. The house was dirty upon our arrival with heavy layers of dust on the kitchen counter, coffee table and dressers - clearly had not been cleaned per COVID-19 regulations as the introduction package stated. We also did not receive an email letting us know what the dropbox code was to pick up our keys which made for a stressful arrival.

Good vacation poor rental agency.

I was promised by the rental agency that they would be there to meet the service provider when they arrived. The rental agency never showed,called or said they couldn't make it. Luckily someone happened to be at the house when the service provider arrived. Not thrilled with the rental agency whatsoever!!!

Peaceful and Reflective

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Ebbtide was the perfect place for me to rent. I could sit in the kitchen, living room or lie in bed and watch and hear the ocean. I was there in the winter and early spring and loved hearing the ocean particularly at night. One day there could be 10 foot waves pounding the beach like thunder, but within just a few days the waves were blue and tender depositing serendipitous treasures. Each morning I was up before sunrise walking on the beach. Each day the ocean and beach provided new views with new ideas for writing and studying! Ebbtide was an easy place to work and live. The only suggestion for improvement is to put the washer/dryer in the house somewhere rather than the car port area. All in all a delightful place to be any time of the year.

Awsome...get away for beach lovers!!!

Loved the location and its proximity tot he beach!!! Property can definitely be well maintained for the price we are paying...Carpets were tacky, spider webs at the entrace doors were not very welcoming..

Great location, just ok home

This home is in a fantastic location. It’s close to Kure Beach center and pier and it’s on the ocean. It is so awesome to be able to walk out your door and put your toes in the sand. The home itself is just ok. The layout is great, but the furnishings are in need of an upgrade. The couches have obvious stains and the cushions are barely supportive. The dresser drawers don’t glide on the tracks and multiple knobs need tightening. The carpet is gross. It’s a dull brown color and worn in places. The bathrooms are fine, but the showers are small and there’s no tub. The beds frames were loose (we tightened most) and the mattresses were thin enough to feel the springs. The screened porch is fantastic, but the porch door latch is broken and didn’t stay closed. And while it was nice to have an outdoor shower, the concrete below it was green and disgusting, and we scrubbed and cleaned it with bleach before using it. There’s no where for the water to drain so it pools. As others mentioned, the laundry room is disgusting. The floor is thick with grim, and it smells terrible. The washer and dryer worked fine. Overall, we may return to this rental but hope the rental company/owner address some of these issues.

Even Better Than Before!

Both experiences were excellent, but since then numerous improvements have been made to the screened porch and to overall furnishings and equipment. Ebbtide is the perfect beach front getaway. Beautiful sunrises and moonrises; quiet and serene; a sandy beach, blowing grasses, and of course the ocean and its wonderful roar!
