The view was beautiful. I think there would be less ants and bugs if around the doors and windows were sealed better. We were told the pool would be clean but it never was, the washer made the clothes dirtier after “cleaning” it. You’re definitely not walking distance to beach a car is definitely needed.

Perfect location for access to Samara Beach.

This was our 4th time visiting Costa Rica. Loved the location of this home. Beautiful views of ocean, and quick drive down to town and the beach.

This was a great spot to stay with my family. The pool was a welcomed relief from the heat anytime we wanted and really easy access down into the heart of Samara. The views were incredible from the house and it was well kept and clean. Owner and property manager were very attentive and helpful.

Beautiful Casa with an Even Better View

We loved our Costa Rican slice of paradise! Shannon and Luis were very helpful and Luis gave some great recommendations for fresh fish right around the corner. We grilled and cooked and had a great time. The view of Samara and Carrillo beach were out of this world.

Great view and location

Super location for visiting local beaches and activities, and the view is fantastic. Owner and property manager very responsive and accommodating. Like other reviews have mentioned, there is a lack of shade at the property so it did get very hot outside around the pool and also on the main floor during the day (air conditioning in each bedroom worked great though). Property was nice and clean when we arrived, kitchen was well equipped for cooking, and beds were comfortable.

The other reviews are correct. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this gem of a place. One note: the road to get to the house is uphill and windy (make sure you have the right vehicle).

Beautiful view!

This was a very nice home rental. The best part was the beautiful view. The home was comfortable and had all we needed. The private pool was also very nice on those days we decided to stay home. There were birds and wildlife in the area. We saw Howler monkeys right up the road. We think you would want to have a car or motor bike to say here - it is a short drive into Samara, but would be a long walk (all uphill on the way home).

Amazing Stay

My boyfriend and I stayed at the property for 12 nights. The property was beautiful and the views were amazing. We saw Macaws and monkeys right from the balcony of the property. The property manager, Luis, was awesome and very attentive. He booked all 4 of our excursions. We used a taxi as transportation to Samara, it was about a 5 minute drive and approximately $6USD. I would highly recommend Marvin as a taxi driver, he either picked us up himself or arranged for another driver to pick us up and was always on time. This made for a very relaxing and enjoyable vacation.

The House of G

We enjoyed our stay at the House of G, but what made it even better was the company of our friends who booked the other side of the villa. The house is light and airy with adequate AC in each bedroom which is a must at this time of year! If you open the small back door and the front slider a nice cross breeze helps to cool off the downstairs area. The house is equipped with mostly everything you need for cooking, sleeping and laundry. The pool was a life saver from afternoon heat and we spent a lot of time floating around and taking in the views of the ocean and natural beauty. We spotted Howler monkeys and scarlet macaws from the deck and the neighbor's dog, Misha, visited each night. And oh, the morning sunrise and views from the master bedroom are the perfect way to start the day!

Relaxing, with an amazing view.

Our time at House of G was really enjoyable. The view is breathtaking. Luis was great and even chopped some coconuts down for us, the coconut water was so refreshing. It was very hot when we were there and at times we lacked shade to get away from the heat due to the directional layout of the property. The pool has little to no shade throughout the day, but definitely refreshing to get in. If you want to sleep in, bring eye masks. The curtains are sheer and the sun is up early. Not a bad view to wake up to though, as the master looks to the ocean. The owner and property manager were flexible in letting us drop off luggage early and also leave them later in the morning to help with transportation issues. We did not rent a car as we found the cost to be very high. Getting a taxi was easy as I was able to contact them through WhatsApp for pickup and they are located centrally in town. It was only 3,000 colones each way and a short drive. The snorkel tour to Isla Chora is worth it, we booked with Samara Adventures where Luis also works. We also did the Wingnuts Canopy zipline and rappel which the kids described as epic. Samara is a great place to visit, enjoy!

Beautiful View, Lacks Shade

We arrived at dark so unfortunately our first impression was not the beautiful view. I spent the evening killing ants that were freaking my son out. I did inform the property manager and house keeping sprayed the next morning which helped. One indoor shower for 4 people was a challenge. The water pressure in the shower was very low to the point I washed my hair in the outside shower. I again complained to the property manager who promptly cleaned the shower head of the calcium deposits which took care of the problem. I do appreciate that these issues were quickly resolved but routine maintenance could alleviate the trouble for guests. The unit was quiet and felt very private, even with guests in the next unit of this duplex. There were some recent renovations (new kitchen counters and tile patio) that were a pleasant surprise. Plenty of kitchen supplies but no dishwasher or microwave. The pool was large enough and refreshing during the very hot days we experienced. Despite the air conditioning in the bedrooms, I woke up sweating in the bright sunshine every morning. The unit has high ceilings with windows without shades, and the curtains that were there were not darkening. The second bedroom in the back of the unit was darker and cooler for my children. We enjoyed cooling off in the pool but the lack of shade made the outdoor areas too hot to enjoy. Outdoor clothes washer did not work properly and no dryer, only lines. Too far to walk to town/beaches but quick drive away.

Needs a little love

Slow communication from owner. Had to submit rental request twice to get a response; needed to modify our dates and had to get VRBO involved to get her to respond. When she did respond she was very helpful. Tired property. Lacking in maintenance. Outside table is falling apart. Cushions are dirty and stained. Grass isn’t mowed. Area around pool could have used a hose down. It was a little dirty/muddy and very slippery because of that. Inside not super clean. Ring in toilet, etc. Super hot. We knew there was no AC. We went ahead with the booking because all the reviews said it is fine with the cross breeze. It’s not. Hot. Very very 🥵 hot. Only way to function was to be in the water. Wish I’d brought at least one more swimsuit. AC is rooms is meh. Cool-ish at best, really loud when running. Pool is nice! Great temperature- warm but still refreshing. Crazy driveway/entry from road to the house; all wheel drive required (4x4 better). Luis is helpful. Had a couple of issues upon check in (key’s didn’t work, etc) and he got us the right ones, provided good info on groceries etc. Washing machine is worthless. Dirt spots still there after washing; no dryer- just a line, which isn’t a problem but it only has a few clips/pins so hard to ensure everything stayed off the ground. Charcoal grill. Didn't work well and needed to finish grilling chicken inside☹️☹️☹️. At this price point I would have expected a gas grill. Very cool architecture and cute decor. Great view.

Breathtaking View in a Gorgeous Jungle Setting

This is a lovely property. Shannon has created thoughtful spaces indoors and outdoors to enjoy everything this place has to offer. The kitchen is well supplied and it was nice to have all the basic supplies included as well. It was magical to wake up every morning to the sounds of Howler monkeys and a myriad of bird songs. If you are into birding, this place will pleasantly surprise you! Stunning sunrises and sunsets completed our relaxing stay! Pura Vida!

It was a fantastic experience. The house is located above the town of Samara and has an epic view of the ocean and landscape. The house was comfortable and private pool made the stay extra fun/comfortable. The PMs are great and go above and beyond to make your stay amazing. Would highly recommend and will return!

a relaxing month with iguana friends

We had a great month-long stay here, occupying both units. The location is excellent, the view can't be beat, and we loved sharing the property with lizards, monkeys, the neighbor's dog, and on our final morning, a visit from a herd of wild horses. The pools are a real treat -- we were in and out of them daily. So helpful in what can sometimes be oppressive heat/humidity. Shannon and Luis (the super-kind house manager) were prompt in taking care of any little hiccups that arose.

Location.

I searched dozens of properties all over the Pacific Coast before choosing this one in Samara. I can't imagine making a better choice! Booking was easy and Shannon (owner) provided me with everything I needed to know shortly before our trip. Luis (property manager) met us in town and showed us everything we needed to know on site. He even cut down 2 fresh coconuts for us!! The views from this property are simply stunning and there are many comfortable spots to settle in. Having our own private pool set at the perfect refreshing temperature was so amazing. We did share it once...with a horse that happened by for a drink! There is so much natural light in this home, high ceilings, comfortable furniture as well as all the things you need to cook/grill/relax. It is literally 5 minutes from beaches (Samara and Carrillo), restaurants (Gusto Beech, Mama Gui, Dolce Vita, Luv Burger to name a few favorites) and Samara Adventures (book the sunset cruise!!). We had a hard time leaving our decadent surroundings but having things so close made it easier. Be sure to visit the fromage and salami shop, Roots bakery and have a margarita at Frank's. We drove from the Arenal area and then from Samara to the Airport near San Jose*. The waze app was a necessary and accurate gps. * Our flight wasn't until 3pm. The drive took us about 3 1/2 hours and wasn't difficult. Most traffic was headed towards beach as it was a Saturday. Trucks, construction, time of day etc can all play a roll in the time it takes but under normal circumstances the drive is very doable. Also, if you are up to a bumpy and dusty 50 minutes drive, go to Nosara and eat at LaLuna. En route check out Playa Barrigona for a private beach experience (unless you count the hermit crabs that abound there). Honestly, don't hesitate booking this property.

Gorgeous View!!

This place is an absolute gem overlooking the ocean. The pictures don’t do it justice, the view took our breath away every morning. Nice and close to town and the beach which was very convenient. It’s very private and we never saw our neighbors. The private swimming pool is a luxury and we swam in it 2-3 times a day. Very spacious and there is AC in the bedrooms. Could use some basic amenities such as coffee and a hair dryer, but this is not a complaint just a suggestion based on other airbnbs we have stayed at. We highly recommend that everyone stays here during their visit to Samara. You can’t beat the view! We cant wait to come back!!!
