Bienvenido a Sotavento # 15, este impresionante condominio de 3 pisos ofrece 2 dormitorios y 2 baños con increíbles vistas del horizonte de Cancún.

El primer piso tiene el dormitorio de invitados con una cama queen y vistas al mar Caribe. Un baño completo, cocina completa, sala de estar y comedor con una terraza frente al mar con sillas. El segundo piso es el dormitorio principal, ocupa todo el segundo piso con un increíble baño completo con vista al Mar Caribe, un área de armario grande y otra terraza frente al mar con sillas. El tercer nivel es la terraza con parrilla, bar con fregadero, mesa con capacidad para 6 y 4 sillones para tomar el sol durante el día. Muy privado.

¡El complejo ofrece estacionamiento y una piscina infinita que te dejará boquiabierto! Hay una playa para nadar justo bajando la calle en el parque Garrafon, el bar y restaurante más cercano está bajando la calle y el parque de tirolesa está a solo 5 minutos.

Great location

We loved our stay in Isla. This place is great other than 2 issues. First the bad stuff. 1) there is a musty/ moldy smell on the second floor. We would not stay here again unless we were assured this was fixed. 2) The AC fan made a high pitched squeaky sound, it made it difficult to sleep at times. If these 2 things were fixed we would absolutely stay here again as the property is in a great location, lots of great restaurants and coffe shops and beach clubs around. The beds are really comfortable and the view is beautiful. There are 3! decks overlooking the ocean including a private roof deck which is where we enjoyed a glass of wine at night. I hope they fix those 2 things so that we can come back!

A beautiful place to stay on the mellow southern area

We loved staying here! For us, we don’t like the big touristy crowds so we opted to stay south. This place had so many positives. First location was perfect for us. We rented a golf cart so it was easy to go up north to visit the busy side which had really great swimming. But right near us we had the best restaurant Rancho Capricho (excellent breakfast lunch and dinner, cocktails coffee, great service etc.) a small grocery, a coffee bus, reggae bar with live music and several beach clubs. You can see the snorkeling crews all docked right there because it was excellent snorkeling. Garrafon se Castillo was the beach club you see out the windows and had great service and excellent snorkeling and swimming for &10/person. The condo had snorkeling gear, sand toys and plenty of towels. Our only issue was that the washer broke but Cesar sent someone right away. They had to order a part so we couldn’t use it which was mildly inconvenient, but Cesar brought us a bag of clean towels and we had enough clean clothes that we brought. Not their fault. The condo was great. Had everything we needed, but the best part was a tower of fresh water which dispensed hot or cold water and was a relief to not worry about drinking water. We honestly just slept there and went out most days and most meals. The pool was also fantastic! A great option to sunbathe and swim in non-salty water. Kids were in heaven. Lastly this was reasonably priced.HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Winter Getaway

Enjoyed 4 nights/5 days this past week. Only had one rainy day but still had fun bar hopping and trying restaurants. The condo was perfect for the 4 of us. Cesar did a great job with check-in and answering questions (and extra towels). Kitchen had all we needed to make light meals. There is a keurig there (not shown in pictures). Lots of stairs, but it didn't hurt to walk off the food and drinks! Close to Kin Ha and of course The Joint. We love Punta Sur and the south side of the island. Chedraui wasn't far and we made a couple of stops during the week for various things. Overall a great place and outstanding view!!! We will stay there again!

Can’t beat the view

We always stay on the quieter south side of the island. The property was pretty - had three levels in our condo so we rarely made it to the third. We only had three people in our trip so I bet if there were another couple people or children or something the space would have been used more. Pool was clean and nice, towels and snorkel gear provided, the property manager was very responsive- over all a great place to stay. 2 things to keep in mind - there are a ton of stairs to get to the front door so maybe reconsider if you’re bringing someone that has a hard time with that- also there was a lingering sewage smell that would come and go that could get pretty intense at times - but I chalk it up to island living. I would definitely stay here again we spent many hours reading on the porches.

All we needed!

Three of us stayed here for a Birthday Celebration and the property had everything we needed. Views of the reef and all the yachts anchoring for the sunsets it was perfect!

Couples weekend

We have stayed at Sotavento multiple times and reminded each time why we like the property and the location. This time we wanted to share the experience with another couple and share some time and space together while on the island. Cesar is so nice, we remembered him from our last visit in May and he was helpful via WhatsApp throughout the week. Sotavento is an excellent property with views to match. This particular unit was presented great on the VRBO listing although the reviews gave us some pause in fact we almost stayed elsewhere based on those reviews, but our friends said you like it there and we trust you so let’s do it. Accommodations meet expectations for those who just need a place to “land” but for us we need a place to relax and entertain. The living room set up was good for that, although the round dining table was a bit intrusive for our needs. The pictures showed different furniture as stated by previous reviews and this includes the outside patios. The rooftop deck was basically unusable, there was no table, umbrella or lounger. There were some 0 gravity chairs that have seen some better days, we never went up there again other than to hang clothes to dry and keep them out of the way. Ceiling fans do not work and lack of dishwasher was a challenge for us. Overall compared to other properties (with same layout) at this location the amenities weren’t as we would like but we knew going in and we made it work for our weekend.

In need of repairs, updating and a more accurate listing of amenities.

To start with the positives, Sotavento Isla is in a great location. A one minute walk to the Joint bar and restaurant and a 5 minute walk to Kin Ha restaurant and Beach Club or the Borracho Burro restaurant and bar. We also waked about 15 minutes to the Punta Sur Ecological park. Taxi's drive past the property every few minutes for trips into town. The neighborhood was very safe and the condo property was secure. Entry is controlled via a locked gate and there is security keeping an eye out at night. The grounds and private infinity pool were immaculate. The onsite property manager Cesar was amazing and did his best to make up for the problems we had with this unit. There are 3 separate AC units in the condo and they worked extremely well. There are loungers located on the first and rooftop decks. Owner should add chairs to the master bedroom deck. It would also be nice to add some sort of tables to all three decks to set drinks and such on. The photos are old on VRBO Now the negatives. Communication with the owner from booking to arrival is slow at best. Don't expect prompt replies to emails or questions leading up to your trip. The owner did email a power point informational brochure that had a lot of useful information. The owner's description of the unit on VRBO is inaccurate. There is no dryer in the condo, only a fold out metal drying rack. We never stay in a rental that doesn't have a washer and dryer and felt somewhat cheated upon arrival. The owner should correct the dryer listing immediately! The ceiling fan/light above the bed in the upstairs bedroom never turned on. The ceiling fan in the downstairs bedroom was missing a blade and just wobbled around in a huge circle. The coffee pot was missing upon arrival and there was no turntable in the microwave. (This has been mentioned in previous reviews) After a day of exploring on our second day we found a brand new coffee pot and a turntable for a microwave on our doorstep. It was too big for the microwave and wouldn't allow the door to close with it inside. There is some sort of odor in the stairwell and second floor bedroom. The wifi only connected 3 of our 9 days in the unit. The construction going on next door is no fault of the owner but based on our observations of the speed of the workers will be going on for the next year or so. We would without hesitation stay at Isla Sotavento again but not this particular unit until repairs/updating was complete.

Little disappointed

This could be a great place with some TLC and items fixed. When we booked washer & dryer were listed which is big for us. Apparently the dryer broke and owner never replaced. We had to use a drying rack. Very humid in condo, luggage and clothes always damp. Same items broken as previous review. Constant sewer smell in upstairs bedroom. Grill lid on top patio falls off. Some ceiling fans are broken. Feel for the price point should be better. Amazing views and close to The Joint.

Beautiful Views

The views from the property were great, and for the most part, so was the condo itself. It is a great location as well! But, the washer and dryer, the coffee maker, and the turntable on the microwave were all broken. It would have been nice to know in advance. I would have brought more clothes. Cesar the manager bought a new coffee maker, after I asked if he could get one for our last few days. He was great! He met us at the condo, and was very responsive! He called a cab to take us to the ferry for our return trip. We had a great time!

Good stay in Isla

The property was clean and well equipped. Kitchen had everything we needed. The patios were nice and we enjoyed hanging out there in the evenings. Cesar was easy to communicate with. Overall a very nice stay! There were a few minor negatives. The exterior door handle kept falling off and the maintenance person wasn’t able to fix it while we were there. The door stayed locked so the place was still secure. The safes could use better instructions. Maybe ask the property manager for a demo when you check in. Lastly there is a property under construction next door so the noise is disruptive at the pool if that’s where you plan to spend a lot of time.

Fantastic views and an awesome property. Garrafon Reef was right out back. Quiet part of the island. Don't miss Punta Sur at Sunrise! Restaurants and small store within walking distance. Can’t wait to come back!

TRULY AMAZING

We have been to a ton of different tropical places over the years and only stay in VRBO’s because we like to experience the local culture…I can say without a doubt that this was the most amazing stay and experience we have had. From meeting the owner, Bob, when we arrived to the last day when Cesar, the manager, made sure our taxi arrived at 5:30am and everything in between…I wouldn’t change a thing!!! The views from each floor were truly unbelievable!! The condo was pristine with extra blankets, snorkel gear, a cooler, floats & so much more!! Everything about the condo is actually better than the pictures… And a huge plus was walking 20 steps to the best snorkeling on the island!!

Beautiful place!

The island is beautiful. We loved the condo. It had everything we need, which was great since it rained the whole time that we were in Island Mujeres 😫We explored all the restaurants close by and we love the food. We had a half day without rain and we walked to Garrafon and it was very nice. To bad the weather was bad and we couldn’t snorkel. Hope to be back some day to enjoy the sunny and beautiful beaches ☀️🌞

Quiet and safe, perfect for families or groups!

Sotavento was a great place to stay! It was very clean and Bob could not have been more helpful with communication. The Beach Club across the street is way less crowded than the other beaches and a great place! The unit was comfortable, had beautiful views and had everything we needed. I would definitely stay here again! It was our first time to Isla and I was not disappointed. The south end is a lot more quiet and relaxed. I never felt unsafe and had a wonderful time. Thanks again to Cesar and Bob for their communication and helpfulness!

Location is amazing!

We spent 10 days at Sotavento with our friends - the space was well suited for us. The condo is exactly as pictured - the views and location are beyond amazing. Located on the southern end of the island conveniently away from the hubbub of the downtown core. Building manager Cesar is super helpful and responsive. We had a minor blip with the washng machine (it began leaking when starting the wash cycle) - it was reported and is like to be fixed in short order. Aside from that we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It’s important to note there are a number of stairs to get to the unit — if anyone in your party has mobility issues a ground level suite may be more suitable. There is a convenience store right across the road, The Joint Reggae Bar is a great place to enjoy live music, food and drinks. You must try the tacos at Capriche Ranch……..amazing and the service is excellent! Overall we had a family stay and would definitely return.

Cesar the property manager was very helpful with any questions we had and was kind enough to carry our heavy suitcase’s up 2 flights of stairs on his shoulders which really impressed my 8 year old nephew. Property was beautiful, clean and serene. The pictures don’t do the property justice. Would definitely stay again!

Isla Family Fun

The condo was gorgeous!! It truly is as pretty as the pictures. There are several nice restaurants as well as things to do within walking distance. However, on the bad side...we did not have wifi the entire trip as stated in the description. The microwave didn't work. The washer/dryer combo took am extremely long time to get one load completed. Even despite these things the place was gorgeous and I'd highly recommend it to a family! It is locked and gated so only occupants can enter. It has gorgeous views and an awesome pool. There is also awesome snorkeling behind the complex at Garrafon de Castilla. We'd definitely stay again; just unfortunate to not have access to things promised in listing...especially at the price we paid. Isla is awesome...BOOK IT!!

My wife, Sandy, and I, Bob, live just South of Denver and I have been married for 33 years. We have two daughters Kennedy 20 and Morgan 25. Kennedy attends The Kings College in sin New Your City and the other is back at school attending to get her degree in Home Mid-wifing. I retired 3and my wife and I hope hope to someday make Sotavento Isla Penthouse #15 a semi-permanent home. We moved to Colorado in September of 1999. My 1st visit to Isla Mujeres was 2010 and after four visits I talked my wife into purchasing Sotavento Penthouse #15. Sotavento is run so well I bought a second one in January 2020. It's a one bedroom below mine. It is a dream come true and I'm sure you will agree when you see it for yourself that Isla Mujeres is very special Island.
