Spacious family retreat

The location was about halfway walking distance between Lol-Ha and La Buena Vida so very convenient. While centrally located, the property is tucked back and surrounded by greenery, making it also secluded. The onsite caretakers were very welcoming, and offered up freshly prepared fruit and coffee some mornings. Plenty of onsite wildlife to entertain the kids. Pool was a good size with some deeper and shallow areas.

Excellent rental for a family

We were eight adults and three children under four years old. This stunning property gave every couple a bedroom facing the ocean with their own bathroom. The whole rental was thought out well with fans, air conditioning, beach towels, etc. there is no beach in front of the unit but we knew that going in. The pool at the back was the hit for the children and adults. Temperatures were a constant 30 average. I can’t say enough about the caretakers Hugo and Eunice. Their dedication and care were heartfelt. They cut up fruit and set the table every morning and tidied up the bedrooms and living area every day. Little did we know that HUGO is a chef so we hired him for many meals. We started asking him to surprise us with Mexican meals and he did not fail. He surpassed all expectations and provided restaurant quality meals.We gave it a four star because the VRBO furniture is looking a little old, like the kitchen table, appliances. The VRBO contact form letter was excellent to advise on things, but when I tried to reach the people they listed i I didn’t get a response back. I ended up speaking with the concierge David, who was excellent, the Vrbo team and HUGO and got all my needs met. I would highly recommend this rental. Thank you again HUGO and Eunice for making our stay so memorable.

The location is perfect! No there isn't a beach, but it is a short walk to either bay for that. Lots of creatures too. Coatis, iguanas and agoutis. The sunrises were awesome as well.I have booked multiple times with Akumal Direct and will continue to do so. This house was impressive!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I walked into a beautiful home with the dining set up for a wonderful dinner. Hugo and Henry immediately went out and started bringing our luggage in. After the luggage was done they sat us down and served us an incredible dinner. My wife has Alzheimer’s and meals are sometimes a challenge but Henry stood behind her filling her plate and cutting her chicken. Hugo’s cooking was exceptional and Eunice was there to clean everything up. The stairs were a little tough for my wife with limited mobility but Henry was always there to help her out. We were spending the day in Cozumel for my birthday so I asked Hugo to make some tamales for us. When we arrived back at the house Hugo was there with the delicious tamales and the dining room was decorated for my birthday There were 9 of us in the house and everyone was comfortable. The house was beautiful the view from my bedroom was incredible We were 9 happy people for 9 days and nobody wanted to go home We all agreed that we will go back there again I read a review that they would go back just for Hugo’s cooking and I have to agree with that

A fully equipped kitchen and plenty of seating inside and outside. It was very windy during our visit so the pool at the back of the house was perfect. Service from David the Locogringo concierge was prompt even on a Sunday. He organised a boat tour and rental cars for us making everything we wanted to do so easy. I suggest stopping for groceries on your way to Akumal because the local shops and restaurants are very expensive.

But the sole reason we continue to return are the 'caretakers' who take care of us, keep the place spotless and create fabulous meals.BUT WE LOST POWER on 2 days -4 hrs and next day 7 hours-not in town either.Unless there is a transformer for the house, we might not come again.

Good layout for multi-family with 4 bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms. Good pre-vacation communication. Photos of the property are very accurate to what we experienced. Drinking water dispenser and vases by every bathroom sink. The wifi worked well for 5 adults/4 teenagers. Hugo & Eunice were kind, kept the home clean and provided generous fruit breakfasts and coffee. Home had very basic amenities. Delighters: wildlife (crabs, iguanas, geckos and coati), blowhole on property, delicious dinner by Hugo, ample space to park cars/golf cartsIssues: the AC is only in 4 bedrooms, common area & 5th room were uncomfortably hot, stone floors require shoes at all times, ants & flying bugs got into food, pool was spa-like temp.

The nearly- daily fruit offering was very welcome and delicious. We had Hugo and Eunice prepare a very delicious dinner one night, fish and pork, and everything was magnificent. Be sure to order Eunice's lime pie. Couldn't have been happier and are eager to return!

Very comfortable house with full amenities, picturesque view and convenient pool (great for kids). What made our visit so special was the hospitality from the caretakers - Hugo, Eunice and their family. They were so helpful in navigating Akumal as well as providing housekeeping daily including tidying up and making fresh coffee and fruit. We hired Hugo to cook us dinner one night which was delicious as well as a unique treat for us to try homemade, local specialties. Thank you Hugo and Eunice!

Great property - okay experience

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: My disappointment comes due to the built up expectations given by other reviewers. People raved about the chips with guacamole and salsa - these never showed up for us, even though we asked for them more than once. The cut fruit and coffee in the morning only appeared when we contacted the manager/owner of the property. I was planning to have the hosts cook for us, but after our request for chips and salsa was not honored - I opted not to trust that this would get done. The property itself is fantastic - it worked great for our family. We rented a golf cart which made getting around a breeze. My advice: if you plan to rent this villa - lower your expectations on the personal service you will receive and all will be well. Akumal has changed a lot since our last stay - we will not be returning - prices have gotten out of control - price gouging of tourists. Maybe it was because it was over the New Year's holiday - but there are plenty of other places to go in the Yukitan and Caribbean - so we will be seeking a new location.

GREAT location, lovely property

My husband, our adult kids, their spouses, one grandbaby, and our 17 year old daughter recently stayed here for 8 days. We had a wonderful time. Here's my feedback: The location in Akumal is excellent. Walking distance to restaurants, beach club, convenience stores, atm, and shops. It's just a short drive down the street to the Yal-ku Lagoon. Spending the day at the lagoon is a little spendy for a group unless you bring all your own snorkel stuff. But totally worth it. That place is magic. The seaweed (sargasos, I think it's called) was there the whole time but it wasn't a big deal. The shore behind the house is rocky and has a really cool blowhole that is fun to watch. It was super windy the whole time which I didn't mind because it acts as a natural A/C for the main part of the house. The bedrooms have their own units. The beds were comfy. Eunice cleaned and made the beds every day in addition to cutting up fruit for breakfast every morning. The house manager came and greeted us the first day there and was very responsive to our needs. I guess my only less than stellar feedback would be that the pool needs better servicing. It's smaller than the pictures make it seem, which is fine. But it needs a good deep cleaning. The filter didn't seem to be working at all until we reached out to the manager and they had someone over the next morning to clean it up and get it going. It's just a bit aged. My husband cut his foot on a filter hole on the bottom of the pool that the cover had come off of. That was worrisome and painful but it turned out okay after some hobbling around for a few days. The bathrooms are classic Mexican painted tile and kept clean, but I feel they could use some updating. Some of the showers don't drain super well. Overall, we loved our stay. We were in need of some serious R&R when we arrived and this place fit the bill nicely. There are multiple hammocks, seating areas and places to just chill out. It is a long drive from Cancun, but that has it's plusses as well. If they were to update the bathrooms and better service the pool, we'd probably stay there again. As is, I have no regrets. Eunice and Hugo are wonderful caretakers. The place has a very comfy, welcoming vibe. Hope this helps everyone make an informed decision.

Break desperately needed.

They made us a delicious meal and cut fresh fruit for us in the morning. Would love to go in the Fall when it is a little cooler.This house was a wonderful escape from the rest of the world! Crazy 2020!!
