Stay away from this listing
Setting the scene: I am a regular VRBO user (eg. 5 bookings in the last 3 months!) and I have only ever had 5-star ratings from the sellers who review me. This listing wins the prize for being my first incredibly disappointing experience with a dishonest, unprofessional home-owner.
I had seen the last guest's rating was 1 star and was somewhat concerned by that, but I contacted Tanya prior to booking to voice my concern and ask for clarification and she convinced me that there was nothing to worry about - the previous guest had made it up and VRBO was going to take the review offline... In my optimism, I naively believed her. My bad!
While the property and neighborhood itself are perfectly adequate, if you want to save yourself a list of headaches, you're going to want to scroll on and stay somewhere else. Simply put, the studio had not been cleaned prior to our arrival, and the sleeping arrangements agreed were not provided. There were cobwebs in every corner, a thick layer of dust on every surface, remnants of pubic hair strewn across the fridge (!?) and bathroom floors as well as a crusty layer of dirty stagnant water floating on the streaked toilet bowl and dust-balls and crumbs on the kitchen floors. That's right - and you get to pay a hefty cleaning fee for the privilege of staying there!
I was also promised an air mattress as per the listing description which Tanya failed to provide so I ended up sleeping on the dirty floor. I first tried to contact Tanya regarding check-in instructions which she had failed to provide, and was able to get a response from her only a few hours prior to arriving at the property - that should have been another warning sign that things weren't going to go well... I then tried to contact her again by phone after arrival, voicemail and messaging center to notify her of the missing bed, dirt and filth and got a response after 11pm that night, telling me she was sorry there wasn't a bed but she'd been up a mountain all day without cell reception. This woman argued that the property was clean and didn't believe what I was describing to her. She said I must be making it up... (why? there is no benefit to doing that. Do any of you other 5* guests go to the trouble of 'inventing' pretend dirt for kicks? Me neither.).
So again, if your simple expectation for money spent is to stay in a clean place with adequate sleeping arrangements run by a professional ethical responsive home owner, scroll on! This dump is the pits.
