Amenities galore!

This place had everything. From koozies, kite, beach towel/ chairs, pool and beach access. Games /toys for the kids and a selection of must read books and high quality cookware. Walking distance to a restaurant and ice cream shop. The beds were also extremely comfortable. The owner was do easy to communicate with. We loved staying here and would love to return

Air system needs cleaning

The unit smelled of stale cigarette smoke. The air ducts desperately need cleaning and the air filter needs to be changed. The property location is good. The interior is worn and dated. The drawers to the dresser in the master bedroom were falling apart and the dresser was not functional. The bathroom rug in the upstairs bath had clumps of something hard matting the fibers. We could only surmise that it was in direct correlation to the wall size mirror. Two beach towels were on the outside upstairs balcony left over from previous visitors. The unit needs a really good deep cleaning.

Thank your for your comments. We appreciate the feedback. The dresser will be replaced with a new one and we have arranged for a new filter and HVAC cleaning. Our condo is strictly non smoking and we do not smoke either. We will also address the balance of your feedback with our cleaning service. It’s unfortunate you hadn’t contacted us during your stay we would have had some of these items addressed right away Janie

Nice condo.

This condo is fairly large for a two bedroom and could easily accommodate a family of 4-5. It is well appointed,has a great view,nice pool area right outside the door,easy parking,steps to the beach,plenty of beach gear.Seemed like new carpet throughout-no stains yet like many rentals.The icemaker in the fridge didn't work.No biggie-Publix has cheap ice.After a couple nights my wife and I realized there was no mattress cover on the king bed-just the sheet between us and the mattress. I slept on my own beach towel the rest of the time.I didn't read the note in the VRBO listing about cleaning the place yourself. Shame on me.The rules posted in the condo say it is a $200. fee.So the day before we left I emailed Janey and said we would do some light cleaning but not the laundry(the king bed sheets,two pillowcases,and two towels). I asked what she was going to charge us for the cleaning and she replied she would let me know after we checked out.The next morning we spent about an hour and fifteen minutes cleaning, concentrating on the bathrooms and kitchen area. I bought paper towels,toilet paper,and K cups to replenish what we used during our stay.Late that night Janey emailed me and said she was charging us $100. which came out of the damage deposit. That's not an unreasonable amount but we shouldn't have cleaned at all. The cleaning policy should be clearer when you book. Did the renters before you actually launder everything they should have?If you have early flights you'll have to get up at Zero Dark Thirty to clean.And have a lot of quarters for the laundry room. A neighbor in the building told me that previous renters were upset with the cleaning issue also.

Thank you for the quick and positive review. We will do our best to ensure the cleaning policy continues to be clearly set out for future renters. Given the size of this condo and that is two floors the fee associated with cleaning is reasonable and proportionate. We have the condo checked after each renter to make sure the condo is clean and all linens are washed You have a great suggestion about the coin laundry and we will try to ensure we have quarters / change readily available for future use. We are glad you enjoyed your stay and hope you will consider Ormond Beach for future vacations. Thanks,

Great vacation

Upstairs toilet ran constantly the first day. Let Janie know and she took of it right away. Enjoyed our stay very much, and hope to return. Sunrise from the master was great.

Wonderful Location for our family

Very nice property for our family to stay at! Perfect location! Condo was very clean with plenty of things to keep the kids busy. Loved all the beach chairs, beach toys, and beach umbrella. The pool was also really nice to hang out in. Our only concern was the listing was very adamant that there was to be no smoking in the condo, which is one of the reasons we booked it. One of our family members has severe asthma, which is triggered by smoke. While it didn't appear that there was smoking in the condo, the strong smell of cigarette smoke lingered in the air. The first night there, the family member had significant trouble sleeping due to the smell of smoke. While opening the windows and changing the ac air filter helped enough the family member was able to remain on the property, the smell was still there the whole week. Anytime we left and closed the sliding doors, the smell was very strong when we got back.

2nd time back!

We love staying at Janie’s place! Nothing beats the location - steps to the pool and convenient entrance to the beach. She has thought of so many things like chargers, activities (games, Lincoln logs, Legos), cable in each room, beach stuff. The adjustable bed in the master is very comfortable! My kids were thrilled to see 2 full beds in the 2nd bedroom this time. This is becoming “our place” and I’m already thinking about when to book for next summer. Thank you Janie for your hospitality! P.S. My one suggestion is to have a casserole dish available :-)

We had a great time staying here. Beach access was great! Many stores nearby. Pool was awesome. Janie is a great host!! Everything was provided from beach accessories to all your kitchen, shower and sleeping needs. Would have loved to stay longer !!! Thanks Janie

Really Nice Condo

This condo has everything you need for a great beach vacation in central Florida. Beautiful view of the ocean and a very short walk to enjoy the beach. The condo itself has a great ‘living area’ because the bedrooms are on the second floor. Relaxed, laid-back vibe that allows you to ‘stay home’ and prepare meals or visit one of the many good restaurants nearby. Thanks Ms Janie!

Silk Oaks Road Townhouse

The location was excellent and it there was plenty of room. The upstairs balcony was fantastic for views of the ocean. The major problem was the smoke smell in the unit. The owner told us it hasn't been rented since March 2020, no one was in the units and a number of people smoke that live in the complex. The owner did hire a person to more thorough cleaning of the unit but the smoke smell lingered during our whole stay.

Quiet, low key

Had a nice stay. Perfect spot if you like quiet, low key place to rest and relax. I think a neighbor is a smoker, because you can notice the smell from a vent. We bought some plug-in air fresheners and after a few days, we didn't notice it. Great rental!

Comfortable stay with beautiful views!

I was pleasantly surprised with our stay at Janie’s place. So many beach vacation condos have a rigorous check-in process, a long walk to the unit, hauling luggage up/down stairs or elevators, long walks to the pool or beach. This place didn’t have any of that. We parked steps from the door, easy access, the pool is literally a few steps from the back patio, one quick walk across the street and you’re at a beautiful beach with very few people. The pool is a bit small so I was worried about that but we never saw more than 1-2 families there at once. Janie provides so many amenities from beach equipment to kid activities (Lincoln logs, LEGO’s, sticker books) to stocked food and condiments. Even down to small things — plenty of toilet paper, toiletries, paper towels, etc. They even had a huge tube of sunscreen in the bathroom. They have pretty much thought of everything you could possibly need!The beds were comfortable as well! I know another reviewer commented on a stale smoke smell. I actually noticed a hint of it myself but I think it comes from another nearby unit, as I saw them smoking on the patio. But it wasn’t a deterrent. Lastly, I want to comment on Janie’s quick responses. She was great to answer all my questions and concerns, especially facing COVID-19. My husband, 2 small kids, and myself absolutely loved our stay and we have already decided that this will be our returning vacation spot!!

Has everything you need for a wonderful beach vaca!

This condo had everything we needed for a relaxing beach vacation! The view from the 2nd floor is beautiful (sliding door is a little hard to open and close as well as the curtains). We ate in most nights and there was plenty of cooking utensils, plates, cups, etc. Having 2 bathrooms was nice (upstairs shower has low pressure), and both bedrooms are large. Board games, toys and DVD'S kept us busy one day when it rained. Overall the complex is quiet, neighbors are friendly. We enjoyed the pool, and common area. The beach/pool toys and supplies were a nice bonus. There were some updates/construction being done in the condo and on the building itself during our stay. Beach access just across the street, quiet and uncrowded beach. We are SO GLAD we chose Ormond Beach over Daytona Beach after visiting there one afternoon. If you are looking for a quiet & peaceful place to stay, this is it! Thanks for the hospitality Janie, and for sharing your condo with us!

We very much enjoyed our stay @ this condo. It had everything we needed plus more. We had plenty of beach towels, cookware, and the cooler outside came in handy. The location was great with the pool right outside our patio door & the beach across the street. Also the bus stop in front of the building was an added bonus. Would definitely stay again . Home style beach view condo

Great condo and felt just like home! We had a fantastic time and the host was very easy to contact. Only complaint would be not very much hot water so take a quick shower. Other than that, place was perfect
