Esta es una hermosa villa remota y tranquila rodeada de 5 hectáreas de olivos y almendros, además de otros árboles frutales en los jardines inmediatos alrededor de la villa. Ayúdate con cualquier fruta madura. Aunque anidada en las montañas cerca de Alora, la villa no está muy lejos de la civilización. La villa está equipada con todos los electrodomésticos modernos que necesita. Todo lo que necesitas hacer es tirar algo de ropa en una bolsa. También está la ventaja añadida de un baño con jacuzzi.
Aunque se encuentre en una ubicación remota y tranquila, la villa se encuentra a solo 15 minutos en automóvil de la civilización. La antigua ciudad blanca de Alora está llena de historia. El área fue colonizada desde tiempos prehistóricos, y fue explotada por su posición comercial por Tartessos y por los fenicios, quienes probablemente construyeron el castillo. Los romanos, después de su conquista de España, restauraron la fortaleza y tuvieron aquí un municipio conocido como Iluritanum, como lo atestigua una inscripción que data del 79 a. Hoy en día hay muchas cosas para ver y hacer y una gran selección de restaurantes y bares. Esta es también una excelente ubicación para explorar las mejores atracciones españolas cercanas, el desfiladero El Chorro, el sendero Caminito del Rey y, por supuesto, los hermosos lagos. La costa está a 45 minutos en coche o en tren.

My husband and I absolutely loved our stay here. The views were stunning morning and night, and some of our favorite moments were just sitting on the back porch enjoying the solitude and taking it all in. The seclusion and peacefulness of the property were exactly what we were looking for.The roads getting there are an adventure in themselves — definitely listen to Pepe’s directions instead of Google Maps lol. Once you arrive, it is completely worth it.Derek was wonderful to work with — responsive, helpful, and easy to communicate with — and it was reassuring knowing Pepe was nearby if needed.We will definitely be back.

Beautiful property in a wonderfully isolated location. Complete privacy and peace and quiet. The property has everything you could need including a very well appointed kitchen, refreshing pool and both indoor and outdoor dining areas. The villa was very comfortable even in the very hot conditions we experienced including effective air conditioning in the rooms that need it most. The drive up to the property is quite an adventure and recommend a reasonably robust car to handle it.

Villa was very clean on arrival. No real issues with anything onsite. Wifi is ok for emails but would not be up to much more, again notva issue for us. The road to the Villa is partially unmade but is perfectly useable and better than some we have had before. If you require peace and isolation then this is for you.

We had a wonderful stay at this spacious villa near Álora. The road up is rugged but in good condition, and the peaceful setting makes it well worth it. The villa is thoughtfully laid out with a large kitchen and dining area, cozy living room, and a beautiful covered lanai that leads to a small pool and lounge space. Upstairs has a master with ensuite and two generous bedrooms.The outdoor living space was a favorite—stunning views of the mountains and valleys, total privacy, and a lovely pool. The gardens are beautiful, and we especially enjoyed the olive and almond trees that add to the charm and serenity of the property.It also serves as a great home base for day trips to Gibraltar, Alora, Cordoba, Granada and Ronda.Highly recommend for anyone looking to relax, recharge, and explore the region.

The Villa is a very good property, plenty space inside and out and stunning views and the added bonus of the small pool. However the information is totally false. 1. the access to the villa is along a dried up river bed 2 km long and that's after another 2km stretch of tarmac through small hamlets. A sturdy hire car is needed for the river bed as it is rough. The listing states it is a 13 minute walk to the nearest restaurant but if you want to get your hire car deposit back it is nearer a 15-20 minute careful drive. Again according to the listing the castle is only 4 minutes drive, in reality it's 25 minutes plus. Also there is onsite parking but the garage is used for storage. The hot water was a bit of a nightmare as it kept changing temperature during a shower from scalding hot to cold. The small pool had to be cleaned as algae was forming in it but the worst problem was the rats. Yes the villa is in the countryside and one expects mice, insects etc but not rats. They were running around the terraces and in the wisteria over your head and we had one in the upstairs bathroom. The terraces and outside furniture had to be swept each morning due to the amount of droppings including in the downstairs bathroom. This pretty much ruined our second week. This villa could be fantastic but it needs a few repair ie terrace lights, hot water system, fly screens torn and the rat problem. Unfortunately one thing that can't be changed is the drive to the villa. Keep that in mind.

Peaceful and tranquil location

A wonderful villa with a pool that was constantly warm. The main bedroom has air conditioning which is a must as we had daily temperatures in the high 30s. The view from the villa is stunning. TV, Bluetooth speaker system for music and all you need for a comfortable stay. In fact Derek arranged through Pepe to change a light bulb on an outside light almost instantly. Our only negative thoughts were with the drive from nearby Alora through the mountain roads to the villa itself and also the garden which had a watering system installed, stayed bone dry throughout our stay. All in all, we had a very peaceful and pleasent stay.

Dear John, Thank you so much for your complementary review. Although the last bit of road to the villa is a dirt road you are only on the riverbed for 4 minutes and on climb to villa 2 minutes. You soon become comfortable with it. Water? The big problem in Spain. The water is dispersed throughout the property on a timer. It had probably sank into the dry earth and thats why you did not see it. It did not rain in Alora for over a year. All wells dried up. I have to periodically pay for a truck full of water.

Lovely, Quiet & Well Kept

We had an amazing week at the villa, this is the perfect place for a quiet getaway. The pool area is inviting and relaxing and gets good sun coverage. Theres a shaded area to eat your meals and patio sofas to relax on. The bedrooms have AC which is a must as the place can get very hot. Theres wifi, although could be abit faster, but it allows you to stay connected which is always nice and there are a few baord games which is always nice. Pepe the house keeper is friendly and extremely helpful and always just a message or call away. I highly recommend this place and will hopefully be revisiting. PS, careful when leaving as Google Maps may lead tou down a second dirt road which we had to backtrack due to a steep dirt hill.

Superb get away from it all villa

We had a lovely 8 days at Villa Van Gogh. Communication with Derek was timely and he provided comprehensive instructions. There is a reasonable drive up into the moi trains and we were grateful that Pepe met us at a nearby restaurant to guide us up to the villa. The property is fantastic and has the most amazing views over the valley. The infinity pool was a perfect size for the two of us and provided some much needed cooling from the ever present sun. The aircon in the bedroom was excellent and there was also a fantastic spa bath which was wonderful after a day in the sun. The villa is very well appointed with all basic provisions (salt,oil etc) available. Malaga airport is about 50 mins away and Marbella and Puerta Banos just over an hour. Overall this was a perfect tranquil holiday and we highly recommend it Mark and Maria

Rural getaway

Villa Van Gogh is a spacious villa in a very remote setting so if you're after an escape this is a great place. The outside space is really great and gets sun most of the day. The views are amazing. The inside is quite dark and cool which I imagine in the summer is a blessing but as we stayed in February it was a little chilly. There is a wood burner and an electric heater though to keep you warm. The villa also had a good stock of basics in the kitchen and bathrooms. The communication with the hosts was easy and prompt. The check in was good, with someone meeting us in a local restaurant to show us to the villa. It was good that they did as the villa is off the main road and 2km along a dirt track which winds up the hill so be prepared for a slightly unusual drive! If you are going out of the main tourist season check in advance whether the pool will be available. We were only told after booking that it wouldn't be filled. We were also told that there is an issue with the electrics which means that if you use more than 3 appliances at once the electrics trip out and need to be reset in the garage (we were shown the switch when we arrived). This didn't actually cause us an issue when we were there but we were a little careful about what we were using simultaneously. Also be aware that the villa is near a flight path so there are planes going overhead a couple of times an hour which obviously creates some noise (though you probably can't get away from that if you want to stay close to Malaga). Overall this was a lovely villa for a remote getaway.

Estancia inmejorable para desconectar

Anuncio totalmente fiel a la descripción, en una finca algo aislada, en un entorno muy agradable, perfecto para desconectar. La casa amplia y bien equipada. Nos gustó por el entorno y la privacidad, la piscina desde luego fue un plus. Como puntos negativos nos falló el agua caliente y algunos bichos en la casa, algo totalmente entendible por el lugar donde se encuentra la casa. Pese a todo la estancia fue genial y la casa es totalmente recomendable!

No estoy muy seguro de lo que quiso decir con "los errores en la casa nos fallaron". Aparte de tal vez hormigas si se deja algo de comida. Dear Adrian! Thank you for your lovely review. With regards hot water. Sorry that the boiler turned itself off but Pepe came and fixed it quickly. Not quite sure what you meant by " bugs in the house failed us " . Apart from maybe ants if any food is left out.

Wir hatten einen tollen Aufenthalt Die Villa Van Gogh ist ein wunderbar gemütlicher Rückzugsort, perfekt zum Abschalten und Entspannen. Die Einrichtung ist typisch spanisch und bietet erstmal alles an Grundausstattung, was man für einen erholsamen Aufenthalt braucht. Außerdem stand ein Gasgrill zur Verfügung. Der Check-in mit dem sympathischen Pepe verlief reibungslos. Besonders hervorzuheben ist die traumhafte Aussicht und die absolute Alleinlage, die den Aufenthalt unvergesslich macht. Der Pool bietet angenehme Abkühlung – ideal für zwei Personen.Der Weg zur Villa ist aufgrund der Lage etwas abenteuerlich, und man sollte sich auf das ein oder andere Krabbelvieh einstellen, beides aber gut in Kauf zu nehmen für diese idyllische Ruheoase. Absolute Empfehlung für alle, die Erholung inmitten der Natur suchen!

Heerlijk huis met alles dat nodig is, een ruige weg om er te komen. volledige privacy, echt een heerlijke plek om tot rust te komen. Enige minpuntje waren de wespen die op dit moment, eind september, nog volop aktief zijn. Verder goed contact met de eigenaar en met Pepe, de beheerder.

Bedankt voor uw positieve review. Helaas zijn wespen een belangrijk onderdeel van de ecologie. Ze wensen echt niemand kwaad. Sommige mensen beschouwen hen als de vijand. Dat zijn ze echt niet. Als ze alleen worden gelaten, vormen ze een kleine overlast. Als je ze probeert te doden, reageren ze natuurlijk. " Een wereld zonder wespen zou een wereld zijn met een veel groter aantal insectenplagen op onze gewassen en tuinen. Naast vraatzuchtige en ecologisch belangrijke roofdieren, worden wespen steeds meer erkend als waardevolle bestuivers, die stuifmeel overbrengen als ze bloemen bezoeken om te drinken nectar." Thank you for your positive review. Unfortunately wasps are an important part of the ecology . They really don't wish anyone harm. Some people think of them as the enemy. They really are not. If left alone they represent a small nuisance. If you try killing them then obviously they react. " A world without wasps would be a world with a very much larger number of insect pests on our crops and gardens. As well as being voracious and ecologically important predators, wasps are increasingly recognised as valuable pollinators, transferring pollen as they visit flowers to drink nectar. "

Wederom heerlijk

Genieten van rust , het uitzicht ,het klimaat , de natuur en het mooie huis. Als je hiervan houdt is dit een geweldige locatie.

Voor herhaling vatbaar!

Wij waren dit jaar voor de 2de keer in Villa van Gogh. Ook nu hebben we enorm genoten van het huis, het zwembad, de privacy, de rust en het prachtige uitzicht. Zeker in deze Coronatijd was het ideaal. Auto is noodzakelijk. De beheerder is aardig en zeer behulpzaam. Wij hebben een fantastische vakantie gehad! Wij komen graag nog eens terug Mieke en Kees

Beste Mieke en Kees Heel erg bedankt voor je vriendelijke feedback. Je geeft ons een slecht gevoel. Door het coronavirus konden we 7 maanden lang niet bij onze heerlijke afgelegen Spaanse villa komen. :( We kijken ernaar uit jullie beiden volgend jaar weer te mogen verwelkomen.

Un petit coin de paradis !

Mon mari et moi avons passé un excellent séjour dans cette villa ! Nous recommandons vivement pour passer des vacances dans un site magnifique et au calme. Idéal pour se reposer ! La maison est spacieuse et il y a tout le confort nécessaire. La grande terrasse permet de profiter de la vue à couper le souffle sur la montagne. Les propriétaires sont charmants. C'est un petit coin de paradis en Andalousie !

Romantic tranquil villa

Great place! We absolutely loved our stay and didn’t want to return back home. It is not very often that a place lives up to the advertising. The pictures do not do it justice. This villa exceeded our expectations. From the moment we arrived we started to unwind and relax. So tranquil. So wonderful to be away from people and traffic. It feels like a hundred miles from civilisation yet Alora town is only 25 minutes away. Would be a great place to write a book. If you want to get away from it all this is the place.
