Perfect Home Base for the Big Island

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our family of five fit perfectly in Kona Bay Hale. We were on the go most of the time, but time at the house was ideal. Very nice kitchen and living room area for family to be together, looking over the Bay. Bathrooms were spacious enough for our family to all get ready in the morning/night. Fans and room A/C units kept us cool at night after we turned them on upon arriving back at house. The bay facing outside space was great in the morning and at night to unwind. Highly recommend this house.

Beautiful retreat on the water

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Pictures don't fully do it justice. The lanai in the back hosted beautiful sunsets every night and was our go-to hangout area. The kitchen was also recently remodeled and had everything we needed.We found out at the end of our stay we had access to the garage where there was a second fridge, laundry, beach supplies, etc. So be sure to check that out!Would stay here again.

Beautiful house close to everything!

This house had a beautiful view of the ocean and we were able to watch the 4th of July fireworks from the house. Being close to town but a short distance away was perfect!

Incredible stay!

This might have been the most comfortable rental we’ve stayed in as a family - the owners thought of everything and if anything the pictures don’t do it justice. Waking up to that view each morning was all the vacation I needed but we had a spectacular time on the Big Island. Exceptional property!

Very comfortable and beautiful

We really enjoyed our stay here. Kids named the chicken that hangs around Hey-Hey. Tons of birds in the courtyard in morning hours. It’s well stocked and there was nothing we needed that wasn’t provided. Very comfortable and relaxing stay.

Great location!

We loved staying at this property. Although we did not walk to town, it was certainly doable. The best part was enjoying the ocean right from the back deck! The home was also very well equipped.

The Good:The view is absolutely incredible and is by far the best feature of this property. The location is excellent and made it easy to explore the Kona area. The home stayed cool and comfortable, the kitchen was well-equipped for preparing meals for our group, and we appreciated having access to boogie boards and other beach toys. We even added a few more for future guests to enjoy.The Bad:The listing advertised 1 king, 2 queen beds, 2 twins, and a sofa bed. Unfortunately, the home actually had only 1 queen bed instead of 2, which significantly impacted our sleeping arrangements and forced one of our teenagers to sleep on the couch. Accuracy in the listing is important when traveling with a larger group. We also found the king beds and sofa bed to be very soft, lumpy, and uncomfortable. The outdoor furniture was worn, with some pieces broken, and the home generally didn't feel as clean as we expected. There also appeared to be an animal/bug living in one of the skylights, as droppings were visible on the ceiling and even fell onto the bathroom sink.The Confusing:The incorrect bed configuration seems like an easy listing mistake to fix. Finding the entrance after dark was surprisingly difficult. We requested checkout instructions, completed everything we were asked to do (and a bit more), yet 75 was withheld from our deposit. The reason given was too many dirty towels in the bathtub, overflowing garbage (outside) and some sand in the bathroom. Just disappointing.

During the guest stay at the house we were never contacted with any issues. Upon departure the house was left in unsatisfactory condition per the contract and guest was charged an extra $75.00 for cleaning. At this point we received the negative review. Every towel in the house was used and thrown in a tub. Some of the towels were so stained they had to be replaced. The contract states previous nights linens, and previous nights and departure day towels may be left for cleaners Every towel in the house was used and left. Beach sand was found in both bathroom sinks, and trash was overflowing the container and had to be removed and placed in a separate container for pick up. There was a type-0 under amenities where queen bed was put in twice for 2nd bedroom. However, on the home page the property is described as a 2bdrm with a king in master and a queen in 2nd bedroom. There are 31 pictures of the property with one showing clearly the 2nd bedroom with one queen bed. The guests had 2 adults and 3 teenage boys. With the 2 bunkbeds there should have been no issue with sleeping accomodations. This is one of our most popular properties and is full of 5 star ratings. The owners have spent a great deal of time upgrading the property over the last 2 years and guest reviews show their pleasure upon arriving. Lastly, our cleaning company is one of the best in the business and prearrival checks done by our staff consistantly show their professionalism. Check out instructions are noted on the guest contract. We were never contacted or asked to confirm them. Respectfully, Mgmt.

Kona Paradise

House layout is great. We enjoyed the location and the lanai over looking the ocean. House was well equipped with beach chairs, umbrellas, coolers to take to the beach.

Beautiful home with a wonderful ocean view!

This is the perfect place to relax and unwind! This property is close to shopping, restaurants, and a grocery store if you would rather cook instead of going out to dinner. We witnessed beautiful sunsets and saw whales daily from the outdoor sitting area. We really enjoyed our stay here and look forward to visiting again.

Beautiful house in Kona

This house was beautifully furnished and we lacked nothing. We especially loved sitting in the lanai watching the waves roll in and listening to the waves all night. The furniture in the lanai, however, looked old and soiled, and wasn't very comfortable. This was a good location.

Best location

This house was located right on the water just South of Kailua-Kona. It is a great base location for exploring the island IF you can peel yourself out of the chairs on the lanai overlooking the water. The house is well stocked with items to use in the kitchen, as well as things to use at the beach like towels, chairs, umbrellas, and snorkels. We really enjoyed our time here and would definitely return.

Wish we had never left.

It’s rare when a rental lives up to expectations but this one was stellar and we wish we had had never left. Four adults comfortably stayed here for a little less than a week and I could see how a couple of kids could easily stay in the bunk beds. The rental was very stocked with dishes, towels, linens and it was so nice to have a washer and dryer! We spent most evenings watching the sunset and mornings watching the fish and surfers out front. We can’t wait to return!
