This property is a gem for large families! The owners have thought of and provided everything you could want or need. They aren’t joking when they say to bring clothes and food only! The house is extremely comfy with a large living room, 3 sofas and 2 recliners and plenty of floor space. I don’t think we could have found a better fit for our large family of 16. We all had perfect accommodations and NO BUNK BEDS!! This cabin is decorated beautifully with a lot of personal touches. We truly appreciated everything about it. There are two full large bedrooms downstairs which worked wonderfully for our disabled daughter. Only a few stairs to get into the house was totally feasible for her, with assistance. The lake is literally a 3 min walk from the cabin and the entire neighborhood is gorgeous and serene. I could seriously go on and on about how amazing this cabin is. We will definitely try our best to revisit again in the future.

What an amazing stay we had in this cozy home. Check in was super easy, kitchen was fully stocked with kitchenware and basic spices. We had about 16 people and driveway fit all of our cars. The private beach included was a major plus! was a quick walk from the home and it was easy to go back and forth if we forgot anything. Despite no a/c, house was nice and cool for the summer. Would be nice to have locks on some of the bedroom doors but I believe that it was meant for younger children. Rooms were nice and spacious and enough beds for everyone. Cabinet was stocked with many towels and blankets and miscellaneous items like bug spray, bandages, eye contact solution. Host Janet was very fast at responding!! She was very transparent about everything and when I ask a question, I get an answer within an hour! I would definitely book this home again. Especially for the summer and possibly the winter

most perfect Tahoe visit at the Kyffin home

The home as very comfortable with more amenities we would ever expect. Like a home away from home.plenty of bedrooms for all of us. A huge living and dining area, game area and lovely front porch for us old folks to watch life go by. a jaunt from the beach and within a quick walk to eateries and stores. Very little traffic on the road (a surprise). The kitchen was heaven for the cooking ladies. This is the perfect place for a family gathering. Seniors downstairs and juniors upstairs. Yes, the local bear paid a visit and the kids were thrilled to see him. Thank for sharing your longtime family home with us travellers. If our next gathering takes us to Tahoe, we will be back here, no question about it. We have stayed at many places and this is on the top of the list.

Perfect!

If you are looking to sample the perfect taste of NorCal, this is your spot (But Ssshhh, don't tell, we don't want prices to rise!) We held our family reunion at this lovely cabin and could not have asked for a better experience! Plenty of space, yet maintains cozy feel. Rustic, yet tastefully updated, comfortable and CLEAN. Each room has its own unique decor, but the Tahoe theme woven throughout. Our hosts were wonderful, friendly, responded rapidly to inquiries, all as promised, plus cupboards loaded with all the essential conveniences one takes for granted and forgets when traveling. Access to the private beach is worth its weight in gold....just a few steps to tranquility....sure, there are a thousand wonderful spots around the lake when you are geared up for an adventure, but to have easy access and avoid the hassles of loading/unloading/traffic/construction/and PARKING, is simply magical. With our own kayaks and paddleboards, the market and restaurant next door and the bike path running by our door, we almost never touched the car keys.... Eagle Rock is an easy hike, just 2.7 miles south of the cabin. Floating the Truckee from town is an easy outing, just bring your own tubes. So much more I could say! Having lived in the area previously, I was very familiar with this little neighborhood, as I have always loved it. I felt so fortunate to find this gem and host our group of all ages here. Something for everyone, all loved it!! THANK YOU Kyffin Kabin Klan!!!

The cabin is absolutely perfect. The location, the lay out and the overall space is perfect. This is our second time having a big family reunion and once again it did not disappoint. There is a b&b Nextdoor which makes it very convenient to have guests stay there too. The cabin is well stocked and there is everything there one may need.

Even better than expected!

Kyffin Cabin was a perfect stay for our group. No one had to share a room, the cabin itself was clean, and the location was amazing. The kitchen is modern and amazingly stocked with spices, serving ware, and cookware (including an enviable Pyrex collection!). Water temp and pressure was reliable throughout the trip. Janet was a kind, communicative host and the cabin has a thorough binder full of suggested eats and activities. We’d be delighted to return anytime.

Amazing family cabin in great location

We had a great stay with this host. Cabin was spacious, clean, welcoming, had all the extras anyone would ever want, including games and puzzles, kitchen utensils, clean and clear fridge, giant washer and dryer, wood for fires, spacious driveway.. and best of all it was a super short delightful 2 block walk to the lake shore! Would recommend this cabin for anyone looking to enjoy the area and surroundings.

Amazing Home

This home was fantastic. First of all it was very clean and beautifully decorated. It had a homey feel and you know it is well loved. There were plenty of games to play and books to read on the one rainy day we had. The large dining room table fit the entire family. The dining room and living room gave us that open floor plan with plenty of seating. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you could possibly need. The bedrooms were comfortable and spacious. We enjoyed sledding and ice skating which were nearby. Our host was easy to reach and gave us lots of information. We truly enjoyed our stay. Thank you Janet!!

A Tahoe Thanksgiving!!!

We really loved the location, the amenities, the spaciousness, and the vintage decor showing the history of the cabin which gives a feel of a home in which our family has made wonderful memories!!!

Family getaway

It is difficult for most families to get together for vacations. I was able to make it happen at the Kyffin home. Everything was as described. It is walking distance to a deli, coffee shop and the beach. This is ideal for extended families to be able to get together away from our busy lives. This is my first time using VRBO and because of this experience I will be sure to book again in the future.

Honestly, it's hard to come up with something that hasn't already been said in other reviews about this house. One thing I don't recall is that this darling place is even BETTER than the pictures portray! Our group had such a perfect time! Comfy beds, great Lake themed decor, new-looking kitchen, and really, every little detail covered. And the location?... well you cant' beat it! Janet was such a responsive host; not that we needed a single thing upon arrival. Thank you Janet! We're already booked again! :)

Family Time

My family’s stay at the Kyffin Cabin was wonderful - just the relaxation we all needed. The cabin had plenty of room and was fully stocked. The location was both beautiful and convenient. You can’t beat being walking distance to Sunnyside, Fire Sign and West Shore Market. We made incredible memories…thanks!

Perfect Tahoe Getaway

Our stay at the Kyffin home was a family favorite. We have been vacationing at Lake Tahoe for over 10 years and enjoyed the spacious home. Plenty to do and easy access to Truckee, Tahoe City and surrounding areas. We loved the traditional decor and large front porch and play area. Janet was a gracious host and easy to contact throughout our stay.

Wonderful - again!!

This was our family’s second time staying on the property, and we were just as completely comfortable and thrilled to be there as we were the first time! Close proximity to the beach allows different members of the family to come and go as their desired beach time is fulfilled. Plenty of room inside and out of the house for people to have a quiet space to relax if they want it. Furnished and stocked with everything you think (or forget!) that you’ll need on a vacation by the lake! Thank you for allowing us once again to enjoy your beautiful property!

Perfect for a large family like mine

This is our 3rd year staying in Kyffin Cabin. I have 4 kids, 11 grandkids and friends and spouses of kids. The home handles all of us with ease. The large kitchen is fully stocked with all the serving dishes and cooking utensils making a fun time for all to be involved in meals. The home feels just like a home away from home but big enough that we can all have our own space and still be together. Not to mention the great location - so close to the lake. Thank you again - for another great year.

My brother and I have recently taken over the "running" of our family vacation home. We aren't able to visit as often as we'd like so we thought we would open up our home to you. It's good for a home to have people enjoy life in it. We hope you will enjoy your stay and be rested and relaxed when you need to return to "real life". :)

Our family fell in love with the charm and location of this home when we first rented it in the early 1960s. When it came up for sale a few years later, we jumped at the opportunity to own it. We have added modern conveniences, but have worked hard to keep the mountain-living look and feel.

You’ll be a short walk away from a private park/beach with BBQs, grass areas, bathrooms, a large beach, and a private dock. Walk a little further, and you’ll be at the famous, family-friendly Sunnyside Restaurant, where you can enjoy a view of the lake from the large deck. You’ll also be within walking distance of West Shore Market & Deli, a fun neighborhood store with a coffee bar, craft beer, a wine cellar, gelato, a deli, organic groceries, and more. Also check out Fire Sign Café, famous for it's breakfasts, and West Shore Sports, where you can rent bikes, kayaks, and paddleboards.
