First and foremost, Kate was a super host. Before we even got there she was giving us helpful suggestions for our trip and was incredibly accommodating when we had specific requests. Also, before we arrived, the motor on the hot tub cracked, no fault of hers. But from something like 8 time zones away, while she was supposed to be enjoying her own trip, she was on the phone constantly with the pool folks pressing them to get over there and fix it, which they did. The house itself: this is not some rental investment property that you need to tip toe around, it’s their actual second home, and it feels like it, which is a good thing if you’re looking to feel like you’re actually in the location where you vacation. It feels more like house sitting for a friend. There are toys galore for kids to play with. The house is actually two houses with a hallway and stairwell connecting them. This is brilliant if you have lots of kids, there’s no tv down there but the bunk bed room is there and they can certainly find things to do to stay far out of your hair for extended periods of time. You have to walk through one of the queen bedrooms to get there, so consider that while assigning rooms. The house has bikes and water sports and towels and anything and everything you could possibly need. Kitchen as well. Everything but a nut cracker, so we left one. Deck is amazing, beach is walkable but it’s a hike. Quick drive to town and beach. School with playground across the str
