We have been vacationing in Duck for the past nine years and, unfortunately, this was by far the most disappointing rental property we have experienced. At 4,800 for the week, we expected a home that was clean, well maintained, and reflective of the premium price point. Instead, we encountered numerous maintenance and cleanliness issues throughout our stay. There was visible mold in multiple showers, broken screens and doors, an ant infestation around the pool area, and the outdoor shower was completely unusable. The furniture was extremely worn and outdated, and we even found paper towels stuffed into gaps in the doorway molding as what appeared to be a makeshift repair. What was most frustrating was the lack of responsiveness from the rental company. We emailed on our first full day in the home to report our concerns and received no response. We ultimately had to call the office to formally report what appeared to be black mold on the air conditioning vents. While a maintenance team was eventually sent, it took two days for the issue to be addressed. The overall condition of the property demonstrated a clear lack of routine maintenance and quality control. Equally disappointing was the lack of accountability from both the owner and the rental company in offering the home at this price point despite its condition. We understand that no property is perfect and that maintenance issues can arise, but the number of deficiencies combined with the poor communication and delay
