Thank you for your lovely review. We’re delighted that you enjoyed the peaceful location and found the property well-equipped. We apologise for the cold in the south-facing bedroom. It was indeed one of the coldest day of the year, albeit with the most stunning weather, and we understand that this might have been uncomfortable. Each room has a heater which you are welcome to use, and we have a heatsink heater in the hall for additional warmth, and extra blankets are stored under the bed, which might have been missed. We’re glad to hear there were no other concerns, and we appreciate your feedback. We’ll ensure clearer instructions for future guests.

The Our photos and listing description are designed to clearly reflect the riverside and dunes location. The house sits in a spectacular natural environment amongst native coastal birds, including the very rare and endangered tara iti. It is very important to us that disruption to this sensitive wildlife area is kept to a minimum. The shallow river can usually be comfortably waded across at low to mid tide, with kayaks generally only needed at higher tide. The beach is easily accessible and often a real treat as it is frequently quiet and uncrowded. We provided clear guidance in the house information, and to date we have not had a guest who has been unable to find access. Signage in this environment is not possible given the protected wildlife area. That said, we will review our written directions to see whether anything can be clarified further. For travellers visiting from overseas or those unfamiliar with Northland’s coastal conditions, we are always happy to answer questions in advance and share practical local tips. We are very sorry about the condition of the spa during your stay. We are always very clear with our cleaners that the spa must be thoroughly checked and left in excellent condition between every stay, as this is important to us. On this occasion it appears this was not completed.
