Quintessential Grand Key West Estate! The James J. Curtis House c. 1874 was acquired by the Navy in 1903 and the home became The Marine Officers Quarters known as M2.
The Curtis house is the ONLY home in the Truman Annex that exists in its original location. This masterpiece is representative of a late nineteenth century vernacular know as a ''Conch House'', free of gingerbread, simple in its design, shingle roofing, weathered siding with louvered shutters. As it exists today it is one of the finest examples of ''Conch House'' Architecture in Key West.
This lovely four bedroom three and half bath beauty has gorgeous hardwood floors, tall ceilings, incredible millwork and many floor to ceiling French doors, original transoms and tons of natural light.
Entering the front hall beneath the original red glass address sketch above the front door, you are welcomed by the formal dining room and fireplace as well as one of the several living rooms featured throughout this charming home.
As you make your way down the center hall, you are greeted by the spacious eat in kitchen, which also includes a lovely seating area.
Adjacent to the kitchen, relax in the sumptuous media room which opens out to the covered deck and outdoor dining room.
The main living room enjoys more access to the lower wrap around decks and rocking chairs.
The breathtaking two story stairway with gorgeous balustrades and an original newel post, leads you to the second floor.
The primary suite features two beautiful bathrooms, one with a shower and the other with a soaking tub, built in closets, a lovely little reading nook and access to the inviting wrap around covered decks. There are two more bedrooms featuring twin beds that can be converted into a king. Both of these bedrooms have access to the wrap around decks complete with a sunning area, white rocking chairs and a quiet covered lounge.
The refreshing pool and patio provide more outdoor enjoyment and privacy during your summer stay and heated during our mild winter season.
The adorable guesthouse is complete with a queen bed, sleeper sofa and private bath and entrance.
