House was amazing! We were a family of 10 and rooms accommodated us perfectly. Being on the canal was special. Watched matinee every day. The landscaping give privacy and shade for the pool which is helpful after a long day in the sun. Kitchen is very well equipped. Liked the central location on the island - could easily take a golf cart to restaurants south in Bradenton Beach and north in Anna Maria. Very close to the beach - we would typically take the golf cart to drop stuff off and then even if no parking spaces could drop the cart at the house and walk back to the beach (about a five minute walk). Overall a great location and amazing house!

The house was fantastic. There were 3 rooms with en suite bathrooms and the other 2 rooms (King and Bunkbed Room) had an adjoining bathroom. There was then a 5th full bathroom which allowed for every family in our party to have their own bathroom with shower. The kitchen/living room are open concept and the kitchen was well stocked. The outdoor area was great. It was 50-65 degrees during our stay and the pool maintained a very pleasant/warm temperature the entire trip - we used it every day of our stay. We would definitely stay here again!

Thanksgiving getaway

Our family had a great time at the My Grand Floridian house! Great location near the entrance to the island. Close to the beach, grocery shopping, and coffee. The house was clean, well-equipped, and well-laid out for multiple generations to gather and give thanks. Would definitely rent again.

Our stay was absolutely amazing! Us and two other families rented this beautiful house for the week, and honestly, it exceeded all of our expectations! There was plenty of room for everyone, the house was beautiful and comfortable, and it was the perfect place for a big group with kids. The location was perfect — just a short distance from the beach, plus we had our own private dock where we spent lots of time fishing and enjoying the water. The private pool was definitely a highlight! It was a great place for the kids to swim and for everyone to hang out together. The only downside is that the pool area is pretty shaded if you’re someone who loves to lay out and tan. But honestly, the palm trees came in handy because they kept the rain off of us for the most part! The kids absolutely LOVED the ping pong table and the mini-golf area. It gave them plenty to do when we weren’t at the beach or in the pool, which is always a huge win when you’re traveling with a group of kids!A few little things that would make an already great house even better: I definitely wish a golf cart came with the rental for the week — that would have been such a fun and convenient addition! I also think having a few extra blankets available would be nice. One thing to be aware of is that the stove knobs have a little play in them, so you have to be careful because they can accidentally get turned on.Overall, we absolutely loved our stay and would definitely rent this house again! Fantastic

Fantastic property and management group. We loved the pool, quick access to the beach, and the manatees in the canal. Management was great to work with (smoke detector battery was going dead and a broken vacuum). House was clean and very accommodating for our family. We would love to return in the future!

Grand Floridian house

Pool was green and dirty .we were able to swim the last 3 days of our week there. Manager was quick to respond but it takes time to get pool usable. Too bad it was not maintained. Liquid soap is furnished in bathrooms and kitchen but is watered down so much it won't clean. Otherwise it was a nice place.

Amelia Island

Property was generally great and very centrally located. Very clean and well adorned. Only issue was significant water damage in a bathroom which made entire downstairs game room inaccessible for the duration of our stay due to foul odor and mold. We had concerns for kids but remediation was started almost imediately upon our arrival. Same odor and dampness issue ramained in foyer of property as bathroom was directly adjacent to it. The kids were looking forward to the game room but otherwise a nice property.

Hi Pedro, Thank you for your review! Unfortunately sometimes unexpected issues may occur. I've reviewed what happened and I'm happy that the leak was found before your vacation and we could get our team over to address it before you all got to the island. I apologize if it affected the downstairs area, but seems to have been resolved quickly. We are happy you enjoyed the house location and island! We hope to welcome you back on your next visit to Anna Maria! Sincerely, Anna Maria Life Vacation Rentals

Some issues

Beautiful home but there were some problems. House wasn’t clean, floors dirty, and a load of dirty moldy dishes left in dishwasher. Upstairs bedding, sheets, comforters, and pillows are dingy and tired. There was also an equipment problem with the pool, wasn’t heated until the final evening before we left. Basement has a musky, moldy smell.

The management company sent a new cleaning crew that did a horrible job. This crew will never be back. To the management company’s credit- which the guest neglected to mention- they sent a new cleaner to wash the floors right when the guest called about it. We never had this problem before. The pool heater is under warranty and service contractor came as soon as they could. Again, this was an unusual circumstance that has never happened before. We also never had a musty smell before in the lower level. Not sure what that’s about. It’s not part of the living area and behind the garage.

Nice home and location

We stayed in the home over spring break. The home was beautiful and very spacious. I loved the fact that everyone had a nice bed, instead of a futon or pull-out couch. I also liked that there were plenty of bathrooms! The location is perfect-close to the beach and other activities but away from the main traffic. The canal is wonderful. We enjoyed watching the manatees every day. My only few complaints would be that housekeeping didn’t do a great job on the floors or underneath the beds. After walking around the house our feet were black! Also found candy wrappers under one of the beds. Home owners also left snarky note taped to the inside of one of the cabinets that I found somewhat rude and unnecessary. The pool was perfect until the last 2 days we were. There seemed to be an issue with the heater and it was very cold. Other than that the home was very nice and we enjoyed our stay.

2/10 Horrible

Not well maintained and unreasonable property owner

My family and I stayed at this property recently, in October 2018. When we arrived, several items in the house or damaged or broken. The floors of the house were filthy, so much so that we had to get a cleaning service to come to the house to clean them. The pool heater was either not functioning or was turned down. The property owner refused to do anything about the pool temperature. My kids could not stay in the water for more than 30 minutes because it was so cold. The morning of our departure, as we were loading the cars, we saw the property owner driving back-and-forth watching us. Nothing like feeling rushed to end your vacation. After the vacation, the property owner refused to refund our entire damage deposit, claiming that we broke a piece of tile in the home that was already broken when we arrived. The property owner withheld an excessive amount for a chipped tile that we were not responsible for. We have filed a formal complaint with Homeaway and have tried working with the property owner. But the property owner will not provide any details on when or if we will receive our damage deposit back. The location and size of this property are huge selling points, but make sure you buy the home away damage insurance if you stay here.

Wish I had never rented to this guest. He will not take responsibility for the damage he caused. Since being in the rental business from 2005, I have only twice submitted a claim against a guest. This one being #2. My Cleaning person has documented the damage with photos. The guest did admit to seeing the damage to the tile but did not report it in. Instead he said that he put the chipped tile on the counter during his stay. When he checked out, he carefully placed it back on the step hoping no one would notice. But my cleaner did notice! Most likely this guest damaged it dragging his suitcases up and down the stairs. Yes.. he did have a couple of issues which I immediately took care of. Right after his call on Sunday- after checking in on Saturday-I sent a cleaner to do the floors again for his satisfaction. I sent my pool man out to check on the pool heat- he reported that it had reached the set temp of 82 degrees. We have a software system that monitors the pool heater for guests’ comfort. I have documented proof that the pool was at its set temp. After I took care of those concerns, the guest thanked me and I never heard from him again. Until... I held a portion of his security deposit for the damage. He did threaten me that he would open a case if I did not return his deposit. It’s unfortunate when a guest feels that they can bully you. We have opened our home to our guests so that they can enjoy the wonderful amenities and make lasting family memories as we have with our own family. During their departure, I was not on the island so I did not “watched” them as they claim. It might have been my cleaners who show up a little after departure time to start the cleaning process as new guests are scheduled to check in. I have never dealt with such an unreasonable and irresponsible guest before. To future guests, I take my guests’ comfort and satisfaction very seriously. This is an extremely rare situation.

Gorgeous property and quick beach access

We booked this house just after Hurricane Ian so we got an amazing deal. We all loved the house. Had some issues with the air conditioning but was resolved quickly when we called the property management company. There were on top of it. We were there for Hurricane Nicole and the house was solid and you could barely hear the wind. We all loved it and had a great time.

Beautiful home, great location

We loved this house and would stay there again! Our only problem was with the pool. The listing stated that it was a heated pool but it was only heated for small portions of the day and not when we were ready to get in. We had to keep reaching out to the owner asking her to turn the heat on. We even offered to pay extra to just keep it on. Vera was a gracious host and very responsive!

Patty, I am so glad that you had a wonderful vacation at our house. We run the pool heater 7 am- 7 pm. If it’s an cold morning, it may take a little bit of time for the pool heater to bring the temp up. That is the case with all pool heaters on the island. In your case, you were wanting to swim at night and so we adjusted the time for you. It’s important to note, the pool heater runs everyday during the cooler months. I don’t have very many guests that do a late night swim… but as you noted, we are always happy to help out and we adjusted it for you.
