Located along the sugar white sands of West Beach in Gulf Shores, Alabama, this multi-level 6 bedroom, 4.5 bath, beach front vacation home provides families with plenty of space and upgraded amenities. The welcoming living area provides guests with ample seating, a well-stocked entertainment system, large Gulf front windows and elegant styling throughout the home. The fully stocked kitchen features an electric range, full-sized split front refrigerator, and a dishwasher. Adjacent to the kitchen is the cozy dining area surrounded with large windows and additional seating along the bar-style island. There is a full size laundry facility, covered parking, and immediate beach access to help make Sandy Castle a vacation destination that is sure to please the entire family!

House is nice and the location is great. We lived that it was not crowded. We seen so many dolphins every morning from the deck. House does need some upgrades but overall nice place.

The view was great, the house needed some cleaning and repair work done while staying there and the bar stools were horrible and they were asked to take them out for safety reasons and the back stairs had to be repaired for safety. We also had to spray for ants and roaches underneath the sink. The rug underneath the table needs to be cleaned and we also had to have the benches to the table fixed before using them. There wasn’t enough towels in the bathrooms for the adults, other than that we still enjoyed the beach and the weather was perfect. Thank you,Peggy Bennett

Family vacation

Location perfect! Overall could use updates, paint and minor repairs but did not take away from our enjoyment. One negative. Could use more towels . Only 2 per bathroom so we had to do laundry often

Great stay!! Loved the classy feel of the main living area and it's muted color scheme! Loved that there was plenty of comfy seating in the main living area and also for meals.Loved the decor and also the folding wall ironing board. Very spacious home, few steps to the beach, 2 decks.Well-equipped kitchen! Great bar counter top and adjustable stools for all ages and sizes!Loved the solid, sturdy, composite deck furniture!Loved that the outdoor light bulbs were soft and inviting, not glaring white.Although we were only about 15 minutes from town, beach traffic in front of the house was only about 10 people an hour during our May 31-Jun 7 stay, which we loved.We did see a few dolphins!Updates needed:Upgrade the landscaping and driveway to nicer brick and neat landscapingUpgrade the outdoor shower to have a sand-free walkway back to the stairs after you rinse off your feet, a way to hang the hose neatly and replace the rusted hose nozzle.Decking and hardware is aging and starting to rust, as per usual salt air issuesWifi was out and took a few days to fix.The dryer heat stopped working about halfway through our stay so that needs to be addressed.The lovely folding wall ironing board does need an upgrade-dangerous rusty nails coming through back, etc.A board walk up the small hill to the beach would be nice. 1-2 sliding doors needed workHooks needed! Place by doors for towels/hats/bags/jackets and in rooms for clothes/towels!

Lots to be fixed

The house size is comfortable for large group. Just that the house needs to be cleaned. Not just swept and beds made. Some mold In showers, and very small hot water heaters. Door lock never worked. Back light out on back steps. Freezer door broken. Coffee pots need cleaning. Floors were filthy when we got there. The washer and dryer never worked properly, so we had a shortage of clean clothes and towels. Reached out to maintenance day after we arrived and no one came until the afternoon before we left. So pretty disappointed overall.

Great option!

House shows wear and tear, but I would stay here again. We had a small problem with a fan that they fixed right away. Great location with not many people around on the beach which is nice as we got to spread out! Beds were extremely comfortable

Getaway for a week to escape snow

Location was FABULOUS. It was very cold and we asked for some extra blankets and they were very quick to get those right out to us. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Large home on beach

We stay at several vrbo’s for vacation every Christmas. This home was the right size for 12 of us. Wasn’t as clean as it could have been and had several issues that needed fixed. Dryer quit working on us and the property maintenance was there immediately and had it fixed. No problems with the property management.

Good home, but poor cleanliness, and appliance maintenance.

The beach home was certainly a great space for a larger family stay and the private Gulf front beach was beautiful. Unfortunately, our short stay was tainted by the uncleaned beds, broken washing machine, detached dryer vent, fire hazard dishwasher, broken lightbulbs, and broken TV remotes. Upon arrival, several beds had not been washed and contained previous guests' hair and bodily fluids. Additionally, the dishwasher had an internal fire that would burn plastic components when running, smoking the house with toxic fumes. We were unable to use the washer and dryer for most of our stay, because the washing machine latch was broken, and the dryer vent was not adequately attached, causing all of the hot/humid hair to pump into the house. I will say that maintenance was fairly prompt, but all of these poor conditions should have been identified prior to our arrival.

The property needs some love. It needs updating and is very worn out and run down. The sliding windows are fogged up, paint is chipping, the shower in the master bathroom is a cheap prefab one, the cabinetry in the kitchen is cheap and gross, the toilet seat in the master won’t stay up, the upper rack of the dishwasher is broken, there is mold and mildew around the house, dining room chairs are broken and uncomfortable, reception on TV’s upstairs was not good, the outside shower did not work. For the amount of money we spent, over 13K, it was a very disappointing rental property. Would never go back!

This house is family friendly. There is plenty of space for everyone. Enjoyed the open floor plan on first floor. Just a short walk to the beach. Would recommend.

Great beach location but house needs attention

When we read the reviews we were hoping the owner would have taken notice and fixed some of the things people stated months back that were going wrong with the house but that wasn’t the case. We also found a better house for less money that slept more people and thought we had time to cancel this one, only to find out Vrbo misleads with their “refund” calculator. The manager of this house was extremely helpful and responds quickly tho. She also stated Vrbo needs to word their cancellation policy better. Pros: *The beach is amazing and beautiful! it’s close to the house which is helpful with little ones. Cons: *Front door lock just spins *Kitchen island chair broke, as in screws fell out onto floor *Kitchen dining chairs are so uncomfortable and hideous and falling apart. Dining table needs a good refinishing. *Bottom kitchen cabinet door right of stove is broken *Upstairs bathroom door doesn’t lock, had to block it from the inside *Several mattress’s upstairs need to be replaced, they are in shape of a V *Bunk bed room shade broken, doesn’t open *Main back deck top step is loose *Main back deck is missing rails- dangerous for children. We laid a lounge chair down to block opening. *Can’t see out main patio door which is a shame bc the views from the side windows are beautiful. *Major lack of towels per person. *Steak knives are extremely old and dull *Pans are old *Nailheads sticking up in floor of car port *Car port floor also had moss or grease or something extremely slippery that unfortunately two of the children didn’t see and ended up flat on their backs on the hard floor. Had to cover that area with lounge chairs also The shape of this house is really a shame,-it has just been let go and we hope it gets the attention and the maintenance it deserves soon.

Great place with great location

This property is a really nice, large house. It is in a great location right on the beach. The beach is also a little more private since it is only houses in that area which was also nice. It was only about 4 miles from Hangout and all of the restaurants and attractions that surround it. Our only complaint was that the downstairs air conditioner did not work the majority of the week, but if you left a window cracked it felt fine. Overall a great stay. Would stay in the house again.
