Located in the Surfside area on the south shore of Nantucket, and less than a 5 minute walk to one of the island’s best beaches, this is the perfect spot for a memorable family vacation. The house is three miles from the historic town center, and convenient to great shopping, fantastic restaurants, and harbor cruises. Lighthouses, golf, and conservation lands for nature sightseeing are a short drive or bike ride away.

8 bicycles of various sizes included for your use. Nantucket has many bike paths that lead all over the island, and a trip to town is an easy 15-minute bike ride
10-minute walk to a bus stop where Nantucket Regional Transit Authority buses – The WAVE – offer convenient and very inexpensive transportation throughout the island

Girls Book Club get Away

We loved our stay. We enjoyed watching the rabbits and deer in the yard everyday. The walk to the beach was easy and it was a great beach. The owners of the property were great to work with easy to get a hold of.

First time to Nantucket

We enjoyed a perfect 5 days at this lovely home. It’s location allows for quick access to an expansive, beautiful beach, but also a quiet oasis in a pretty green garden . Our first trip to Nantucket exceeded all of our expectations. I would chose to stay at the Surfside Sanctuary again and again!

Lovely easy beachy home

We loved staying at Chip and Ted's home, which is beautiful, private, quiet, well equipped, and in a wonderful neighborhood walking distance to gorgeous beaches. This home is well taken care of and has everything you might need. Chip and Ted were responsive and caring hosts, and accommodating to anything we needed. We highly recommend staying here!

Dreamy farewell to the summer

We enjoyed a delightful long weekend at this amazing property. Location is perfect just 10-15min from town by car or bike. It has easy access to a beach were you can avoid all the crowds. The property is exactly as described, with ample room and very comfortable beds. Couldn't have found a better place to spend time with our friends and enjoy everything Nantucket has to offer. Will be coming back!

Surfside sanctuary

Best equipped house in Nantucket we have ever seen with excellent bikes, games, kitchen supplies, widow walk and yard. It is a very easy walk to one of the best private beach areas on the island. It is centrally located with easy access to all areas of the island. The pre-arrival information was as thorough as possible. The property was very well maintained

Lovely house, well equipped, very comfortable and wonderfully close to the beach.

The house is handsome, with a great open kitchen-dining-living area, not to mention a fabulous deck. It really is a 5 minute walk to a gorgeous, wide and long beach. We were seven people and we’re all very comfortable. The house is clearly well maintained and loved by its owners. We all wish that we had had more time there. Thank you Surfside Sanctuary family.

Serene Visit

The location and home were spectacular. The yard was beautiful, the kitchen outfitted and the beach a short walk away. There were plenty of outdoor chairs, towels and bikes for all parties. The communication was great. The deck was our favorite place to listen to the ocean day and night. This is a dog friendly property so there was some dog hair from a previous visitor on the couches and bedding but nothing we couldn't work around. We very much hope to stay again sometime.

Outstanding!

We had a fabulous stay at Surfside Sanctuary! It was my parents, husband and four kids ages 13-21. Everything was as promised, the beach was a quick 2 minute walk and we were able to bike to Stop and Shop for our groceries. We took advantage of the WAVE bus and enjoyed dougnuts that we biked to get. The biking trails were perfect for walking, biking and running. The house was beautiful and my kids loved playing Can Jam!

two great Nantucket weeks

The Surfside Sanctuary was the perfect house to stay in for our Nantucket vacation. The photos don't even do the property justice. The house sits on a beautiful, private lot with a porch. It was so peaceful to just spend time there. The walk to the beach is barely 5 minutes and the beach is clean, uncrowded and beautiful. The house has plenty of space and is relaxed and comfortable and nicely decorated. Our family used the bikes to get around the island and the yard games when we stayed close to home. The location is perfect. Just 10 minutes by car to downtown. Thank you so much for a great Nantucket vacation!

Sanctuary for sure

Where to begin, from the moment we booked the property all the way thru leaving everything was amazing! The location is absolutely perfect for a beach lover or some one who wants to get away from the craziness of down town, yet still be close to shopping and anything you need. The owners provided a welcome guide that was through and and told us about the amenities at the property that we no longer needed to bring with us! The property was great for our dog to roam about and feel right at home, our kids had a great time exploring and going to the beach. We had two families with 4 kids and an infant and there was space for everyone. The view from the roof is stunning during the day and a perfect place to catch a sunset. The only bad part about the stay was having to leave, that said I cant wait to come bACK.

Classic Beautiful Nantucket Cottage

Perfectly situated classic Nantucket home! My husband, tween, myself and dog enjoyed the beautiful home. I Loved watching the waves and planes from the widow’s walk. Owners very receptive and even sent welcome guide about cottage and provided tips and suggestions. We loved Nantucket bake shop Boston cream and 3-way scoop ice cream. The bicycles, beach chairs and games very fun. The 5 minute walk to the secluded beach by Surfside was amazing and beautiful!

A summer sanctuary!

This property was the perfect spot for my family to stay while we were in town celebrating a family wedding. The location could not be beat, the property was so private, and the house was so clean with plenty of space for everyone! Plus, the owners were absolutely wonderful. We hope to come back soon!!

A Nantucket Paradise!

Surfside Sanctuary is absolute perfection! The house is so lovely and is so well equipped with anything you could ever need. It was extremely clean and we felt right at home. The location was amazing- so close to the beach! The Newton’s were very responsive and friendly. Truly such a gem of a place! The trip overall could not have been better!

The best house in Nantucket

Everything about Surfside Sanctuary was perfect. A group of 8 of us (plus dog) staged and everyone loved it. The outdoor space is great for a group to eat meals and the beach was so close. The bikes made it easy for us to get groceries and other supplies. Chip was super friendly and responsive. We would definitely stay here again!

Best Family Beach Vacation Ever

The house was a gem in the perfect location steps to the beach. Plenty of room inside and out for 10 guests. Loved the wrap around porch! The owner was very helpful and friendly - we felt more like guests than renters. We would defiantly consider returning.

Met or exceeded all expectations. Would surely return and recommend to anyone.

This was probably the most enjoyable rental we have taken in Nantucket over the years. It is exactly as described and depicted in VRBO. Very clean, comfortable, roomy, up to date, nicely furnished, private, quiet, walkable or a two minute drive to beautiful beaches. Our family of five plus a dog had more than enough room, beds, and baths. Loved watching the resident bunnies skitter about the yard. None of us wanted to leave. We aren't always given to unqualified superlative reviews, but Surfside Sanctuary and the very helpful owner were superb.

A home away from home

My family certainly had a vacation for the books and made many memories there! We felt so at home from the moment we arrived and felt so relaxed and comfortable at the house. Chip and the Newtons could not have been more helpful starting the moment we made the reservation. They have an extremely helpful welcome packet and even reminded us when ferries were available to book. The house is also in the perfect location, very close to the beach and a quick drive to town and so much privacy and quiet on the deck. We felt so relaxed and at home in their house. It certainly felt like a home away from home and truly was a surfside sanctuary. We hope to return to the island and your home again someday and will highly recommend the house to any family/friends.

Beautiful house

The house was fantastic, very well done all around. The location was unbeatable and the nearby beach must be one of the best in the Northeast. The fact that the house includes bikes and beach chairs makes life much easier for packing purposes. Would definitely stay there again.

Beautiful house, perfectly equipped, perfectly located!

I can't say enough good things about our stay and we would definitely come back again. The house is super cosy and the Newton family are great hosts. Situated just across from the beach road next to Surfside Beach, it is an ideal family get-away.

Birthday celebration

We just spent 5 days here for my Birthday celebration and it was perfect. The house , the yard, the easy access to the beach made for a wonderful time. The owners thought of everything so we could settle right in. If you have a chance to travel to Nantucket this should be your destination. We hope to be back again.

Relaxing Memorial Day Weekend on Nantucket - By The Beach

Our group spent Memorial Day weekend at this property and we could not have been more pleased with our stay. From the outset, the owners' were extremely professional and courteous. They provided a detailed packet that gave us not only a great overview of the house and it's amenities but also the surrounding area, including dining and entertainment recommendations that our group took advantage of and truly enjoyed. The house itself was very clean and well provisioned with all the accessories a small group of friends or a family would need for a fun weekend - the owners provided lawn games, beach chairs, and plenty of bikes, as well as modern appliances and kitchen tools. We had two sunny days where we were able to grill outside, play lawn games, and have our meals right out on the deck. On our final day when it rained, the open concept downstairs kitchen and living room made for a really fun area to cook and enjoy the company of the whole group together in one room despite the less than ideal weather. Being within walking distance of a pretty local beach with no crowd was also a huge plus. Additionally the strong wi-fi was really appreciated by those of us who had to fire off a few emails throughout the weekend in between trips to town (which is only a 10 minute drive and cabs were readily available by call). Overall, we were incredibly happy with our weekend here and the owner's detailed and thoughtful recommendations for local attractions in particular helped put our weekend on Nantucket over the top.
