Wonderful property, all was as stated. Deer visited us the first afternoon. Nice location and enjoyed local stores, beach and restaurants. Linn’s restaurant was very good. Visited Hearst Castle, elephant seals, Harmony. Would definitely stay there again!

Lovely place to stay!

The Redwood Hearts Cottage in Cambria was perfect for me and my husband. Our host was incredibly kind and responsive, with lovely touches of whimsy throughout the house. It is about a 6 minute drive into town, in a quiet residential area. Well stocked kitchen and bathroom. I'd stay there again.

Cozy and Quiet

This is our second time to stay at the Cottage and we are hoping to be back before too long, it’s that inviting. It’s a short drive to town or the beaches. Lots of lovely food to choose and shopping for everyone’s price range. Cambria has its own small village vibe, but we find that locals are friendly and hospitable.

Wonderful

Thank you, Sherry, for another fabulous stay. The cottage was cozy, immaculate, and we appreciated all the little touches—wine, moonstones—that made it extra special. Looking forward to the next time.

Great winter break

We stayed a week during January. The cottage was ideal for 2 people. The sitting room might be a bit small for 2 couples. It was great to find essentials in the cupboard and a fabulous bottle of wine on arrival.Thank you Sherry

Sheelagh, it was awesome hosting you, and I am glad that you enjoyed the wine. I agree that the cottage is way too small for two couples, and I am so glad that you mentioned this. I recently reduced my capacity to 2 people because everyone kept trying to stay there with two unrelated groups and it was not ideal for them. I would like for people to be comfortable, and so this is great feedback for people considering the cottage. Have a beautiful and prosperous year, and I hope to host you again. Sherry

If you are a clean freak then this is the place for you. I am alergic to all kinds of pets dander, and this place is a perfect match for me since the owners do not allow pets. Also inside is even better than the photos. The only downside is lack of dishwasher and washer dryer. As long as you don't cook alot then its not an issue

Thank you May! I am glad that you liked the way that it smelled. It is small little cottage, and there is a washer, but we keep it sectioned off from guests, because of the water shortage. Have a beautiful rest of your week.

Nice property

Although we were there in October house was a little chilly even with heaters. A little quiet with no tv. Otherwise we really enjoyed our stay.

Thanks for the review, Kim. The listings states that there is no TV, because the setting is styled as if it is situated in Early California when TVs, particularly on vacation, were not readily available or used. That is why the place is stocked with books and games. The wall heater is new, but that is how the house was originally heated, too. When I stay there, it makes the place very toasty, and so maybe you left a window open?

Enjoyable time

This cozy cottage is nicely curated in a vintage style. The beds are comfy, and everything is clean and cared for. The living room might be small for more than 2 people to hang out in but the 2 bedrooms are spacious. There’s a carport for parking. As a couple we fit here fine and we enjoyed our 4-night stay.

Cozy Retreat

A sweet redwood cottage in the quiet hills above the town of Cambria. A perfect house for relaxing and being close to nature. Sherry, the host, shows her thoughtfulness with stocking the cottage with everything you might need. Moreover, a bottle of wine, Spring water and oatmeal raisin cookies were waiting for me in the kitchen. My week spent here was very memorable because I could enjoy privacy, and know that my host was a text away if I needed anything.

Comfort and Quite near Town

This little rustic home is clean, close to town and comfortable. Sherry, the property manager was very responsive and would reply within minutes of my text. The beds were the most comfortable beds we have slept on at any VRBO. In fact, one of the ladies in our group wants to know what type of mattress they are because she wants to buy one. Thank you, Sherry! We will be back!

Comfy quiet retreat

We really enjoyed our stay. The house is very comfortable. The fireplace in the living room is perfect for cool mornings and evening. We stayed in the room by the bathroom which has a very comfy bed. Lots of great magazines to read, birds to watch, fresh air to breathe. Walking in the area is beautiful and inspiring. My only complaint is not enough basics in the kitchen. Perhaps a few more spices/ herbs, cooking oil. We appreciated the snacks and coffee supplies. There was a welcoming bottle of wine waiting for us when we arrived. Very nice stay.

Dated and smells old

The property was basically a place to lay our heads at night. The location was convenient. The home and furnishings were clean but old and felt worn out- ie- towels were well worn, electric outlet didn't work. Upon arrival bath mat was damp as though someone had just taken a shower and didn't hang up mat to dry. We were greeted with a musty "old" smell throughout our stay. The owner was pleasant in our communications which were brief & efficient.

The bath mat was clean. The dryer sometimes does not dry them thoroughly because of its sensor system. Aside from that, it is an old house. It was built in the late 50's or early 60's, and it is one of the original Cambria Lodge Hill homes. It is marketed as an older home. It is listed this way in the description, and so I am wondering why one would book it, if they are used to newer construction. Additionally, it is priced lower than a hotel room for two people, and it has many features that a hotel does not have, and so it offers value for those seeking a connection with nature, views, and a quieter setting.

Lovely Home in neighborhood. Deer's outside

Me and my hubby had a very good stay. The host was relatively communicative and very accommodating overall. We didn't expect the house to be so close to other homes but we still managed to feel a sense of privacy and solitude which is what we planned for. Be aware that the kitchen porch light that is on the wall that faces the neighbors home evidently glares into the neighbors home. She kind of caught me off guard as she told me so talking to me through the door asking me to be sure that light is off by 10:00pm.

Lovely Getaway

So…the first things I hope for in a VRBO stay are a good, comfortable bed and a well stocked kitchen. Check and check! The beds were wonderful, and the kitchen had anything you might need, and more. There are some very nice ‘extras’ that most VRBO owners don’t provide, and we appreciated their thoughtfulness! The house is small, but it is so well designed that our family members had their own spaces, and we didn’t feel as if we were on top of each other. Thank you for a comfortable stay! We loved our time on the Central Coast!

Wonderful stay

Cottage was just the right size for the 2 of us to enjoy togetherness and also some privacy. Very peaceful and quiet. We indeed saw deer and wild turkeys. Weather was lovely in September and we totally enjoyed our stay exploring Cambria and the nearby coast. Breathtaking hiking excursions. Pathway to side entrance could be made more easily accessible but inside very inviting.
