Our return visit did not disappoint.

A wonderful return to Poplar Cottage and Budleigh. We wish we could have stayed longer. The aesthetic value is the best and it is easy to relax here.

Poplar Cottage

Great location 5 minutes from the beach. The beds are comfy which is such a big plus. This was our second visit we found the aga difficult to cook for 5 people it was okay to door a stir fry but difficult to use the oven and do a roast. The look of the place overall is charming. Parking the car was difficult too but my son was good at it

Lovely house in Budleigh

This was the third time we have stayed in Poplar Cottage, we love the space, comfort and convenience of being just off the centre of Budleigh with a very short walk into the village and the beach. Well furnished with super comfortable beds, great bathrooms (the new shower in the main bedroom is superb), large sitting room with super comfy couches, and well equipped kitchen with an Aga (not as tricky to use once you get used to it).

Another relaxing stay in our "Home from Home"

A return visit to Poplar Cottage and another wonderful stay. Everything was as we remember it from 2 years ago when we visited to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary - we have visited Budleigh since we were first married and Poplar Cottage provides a wonderful and comfortable base from which to explore our old haunts, and even find new ones. Cant fault anything , we shall be back again.

A lovely cottage close the sea and centre of village

Our second stay at Poplar Cottage, and as before we enjoyed the well decorated and equipped house. The location is quiet and close the centre of the village and a couple of minutes walk to the (stony) beach. It has an Aga, which we are used to, but it tends to make the kitchen quite hot compared to the rest of the house - open windows required at times to provide air circulation. Budleigh is a nice village with plenty of food shops nearby

Relaxation at it's Finest

Another wonderful stay in Budleigh. We choose Poplar Cottage as we know it's well looked after, comfortable and has everything we need. On a cold day the aga is welcoming and warm. The location is second to none with enticing views of the sea. We will of course be back.

Golden Wedding Anniversary stay

What a wonderful cottage and great location close to the sea in Budleigh Salterton. We have visited this area many times over the past 5o years and staying in Poplar Cottage proved the best ever. Faultless luxury. We will be back!

Accessing the cottage with the double lock we struggled with ,otherwise it was a delightful cottage, ideal for visiting our family in Budleigh.We could not fault it in any way .

A home from home...

Perfect, well equipped and beautifully decorated. Both owner and housekeeper were very responsive and helpful when contacted. Great location near the sea and fantastic in the centre of Budleigh to have parking. Recommend!

A beautifully equipped cottage in a perfect location

Poplar Cottage was perfectly furnished with top quality fixtures and fittings. It was the proverbial home from home. The location is excellent, being seconds away from Budleigh's shops and yet completely quiet. Nights were totally undisturbed. A plus point for us was that dogs are not allowed, so no worries about dog hairs etc. The cottage was spotless. We would not hesitate to stay again.

A wonderful first time stay in such a beautiful cottage

Our family have had the most amazing break at Poplar cottage. We would probably rank this as the best UK cottage we’ve ever had the pleasure of staying in. The cottage is truly exceptional and its heritage is fascinating. The furnishings are in abundance with such tasteful decor throughout. Every little detail has been thoughtfully considered from the luxury bedding, towels, plentiful seating including a cosy snug area and ample kitchen utensils. The sea provides a beautiful landscape and Budleigh is oozing with charm. Despite the mixed weather, this did not dampen our spirits with long nature walks along the Otter enjoying the beautiful birds and the breathtaking coastal views. We will definitely be back.

Comfortable cottage, great location

This is a lovely cottage is in a great spot, very close to the sea and the high street but still quiet and relaxing. The living room is very nicely set out for a small group or family to spend time together in the evenings and the TV is excellent. The showers are fantastic, great water pressure. The house was really clean and the housekeeper Paula was very obliging when we needed a little help. Having a parking spot in very handy too. The only downside is the Aga which is a pain to use if you do a lot of cooking though it does keep the kitchen very cosy.

A fabulous stay in a perfect seaside home

Poplar Cottage is a real gem. We had a lovely few days there at the end of November, enjoying the luxury and comfort of this well-equipped, warm and spacious house which had almost everything anyone could wish for, including being a stones throw from the beach and all the joys of winter seascapes and swimming. It was an unexpected bonus to have a dedicated parking space for making arrival and departure as easy as could be. Poplar Cottage is a great base for exploring the nearby towns of Sidmouth, Exmouth and as well as the Jurassic coast not far away. It is directly on the route of some great walks and cycle rides and nearby some great country pubs too. We could not recommend more highly and hope to be back again soon
