Joshua Tree Slowpoke

We pride ourselves in how we keep our place neat and tidy. Each of the 2 bedrooms has a comfortable queen bed. Air/Heat is provided with the split AC system in each room to help keep you perfectly content. Smart TV, BBQ, outdoor dining area. Coffee, tea, snacks and all the basics provided. If you need anything just let us know, our caretaker is usually available to assist you.

Slowpoke is situated about 10 miles out of town and 15 minutes from the Joshua Tree Park entrance. The house is situated on 5 acres. A perfect spot for unwinding. Sit back, enjoy the view and take in the starry night skies. Only minutes to Pappy and Harriet's, The Integratron, Noah Purifoy and downtown Joshua Tree but out of town enough to give you the perfect sense of personal space.

A lovely place to stay

A friend and I stayed here for a brief writing retreat, and we loved it. It's a beautiful, clean house that has clearly been designed with the guests' comfort in mind. The beds are comfortable, the windows have room-darkening curtains, and the kitchen is well stocked with extras. And the art! Every wall is covered with fabulous paintings and photos! We listened to records, wrote, went for long walks, and generally had a wonderful time.

Gemütliches Haus in der Wüste

Netter Vermieter, einfache Kommunikation (antwortete superschnell auf SMS), liebevolle Inneneinrichtung (Bücher, Schallplatten, DVDs....), mitten in der Wüste (Hallo, Hase! Hallo Klapperschlange), Hängematte, separater Schuppen mit Waschmaschine und Trockner. Sehr praktisch, sehr gemütlich. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

So happy, can’t wait to return

simply saying we enjoyed our stay is an understatement. The space was clean and perfectly decorated. We looked for weeks for the best option for our family to enjoy the riches of Joshua tree. We are so happy we chose slow poke because it allowed us the opportunity to move slow! Leaving our busy lives in Los Angeles slow poke was the best option.We look forward to returning. The only thing I would change about our stay, is the lock at the front gate. The combination is a bit hard and a little time-consuming. I would suggest a digital lock to make it easier to come in and out of the property. Other than that everything was amazing can’t wait to return!

Great place to crash on a weekend getaway to Joshua Tree! Place is solid for a couples weekend or a group of friends. If you plan on staying here, know it’s about a 5-10 minute drive into the town where restaurants etc are located. If you’re planning to come in later in the day, I’d recommend stopping and eating in town before checking in at Slowpoke. We went to the Joshua Tree Saloon and it was a nice dinner to an already great day

Lovely weekend stay

We were in Joshua Tree for a half marathon and this was such a lovely place to stay the weekend and be able to visit the park from. Nice and cozy home with a great record collection as well!,

Amazing and we’ll be back!

We were only in town for 24 hours for a bday party. Used to the home to get ready, make dinner and sleep. It was perfect and very cute and comfortable.

What a sweet and wonderful getaway. Everything you need is there. Exceeded our expectations!!!

This was a birthday getaway for me and my mom since we both have our birthdays in June. We were completely blown away at how charming the place was and how EVERY detail was thought out and executed! All we needed to bring was ourselves and our clothes. The smallest of things has already been taken care of by Mark and Esther (the owners). You have the sweetest place with a nestalgic touch and the nature all around you. We could not have asked for more. Email replies were super quick and they check in / check out was super easy. My mom is STILL talking about our stay at the Slow Poke and that make my heart so happy. Highest star rating for this place and to Mark and Esther!!! Love, Love, LOVE it!!!!!

incredible place

This home was incredible. Super quaint and cute and amazing artwork everywhere! Very fresh and modern with all the things in the kitchen and around the house that you could possibly need. I would totally book this place again, but my only complaint is that the floor was really really dirty. I don't think the cleaning crew cleaned the floors at all...they were layered with dirt. Outside of that, the house was impeccable and felt very clean. I would come back here again.

Amazing Creative Gem

My boyfriend and I absolutely enjoyed every moment of our stay at Slowpoke. We had everything we needed and more! The art and music selection was fantastic for a comfortable and relaxing weekend, and the bed and furnishings were cozy and chic. Loved it!

Cozy atmosphere

Slowpoke was a great homebase to explore Joshua Tree. We enjoyed the quiet yard to soak in the sun. And the beds and rooms with separate temperature regulation were very comfortable. The well curated vinyl collection made the perfect soundtrack to our stay. Mark, will you please make me a mix, or even recommended artists? Would enjoy that so much.

Slowpoke was a very special spot. A desert oasis, The house had everything you would need. Record player was a lot of fun at night. And a lot of great art. Great location , with a Joshua tree in the back yard. If i ever travel to Joshua tree again, i would love to stay at Slowpoke Brent and Debbie from San Juan island, Wa.

Absolutely Perfect!

We stayed two nights at the Slow Poke. The property has everything you could possibly need including desert wildlife guidebooks, chilled glasses, and amazing coffee. The beds were also extremely comfortable. The record player added an unexpected pop of nostalgia and we used it to torment our 14-year-old son because hearing those classics again resulted in spontaneous dancing and singing from his aging parents. He did, however, enjoy exploring the five acres and all of its wild creatures. Thank you so much!

Perfect in every way

There are more thoughtful touches in this home than I can list, but as promised, it is private and cozy, with breathtaking views in all directions. Kitchen was well stocked, everything was clean and beautiful. We had ample time to enjoy the art and books as we were snowed in for part of our stay (!). My only advice is don't bring any mustard because I guess a lot of us were worried there might not be any, and the current count is 7 mustards. This was our second visit to Joshua Tree and it was convenient to all. Don't hesitate to book this place, you'll be glad you did. Thanks Mark and Esther for creating and sharing this wonderful home..

We were instantly smitten with the place!!

Slowpoke was the perfect little getaway spot! Home was lovely! Art was fantastic! Record player was supurb! All items you could ever want were provided! Hello, my name is Mark and I am a freelance illustrator and painter. I have worked for clients such as The New Yorker, The New York Times, exhibit in galleries and have published several books for teens and kids. I graduated from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California and currently live and work in the Los Angeles area with my wife, fellow artist Esther Pearl Watson, our amazing daughter Lili and a French Bulldog named Gherkin.
