Blue Dune is oceanfront and is nestled between large beautiful dunes that flow into natural surroundings of indigenous pines and cedars. You are now in a very private spot located furthest east on the coast then any other spot. This is world class for surfing, fishing and shell hunting.
Open the front door and listen to the waves crash. Watch the moon rise over the dunes and track your footprints over a private trail to the beach. Just your footprints and the deer. Enjoy oceanfront life on the most beautiful beach in the world!
Trace your trail back to a newly renovated boho style beach cottage. Find surfboard racks, outdoor deck, park grill, outdoor shower, fish cutting station, screened porch and roof top deck. Blue Dune is a newly renovated two bedroom cottage with open floor plan and fully equipped kitchen. Wireless internet, DirectTv and and sound system on property. This is the perfect cozy cottage for small families, fisherman and nature lovers.

Close to nature and the beach!

Perfect location, great views, lovely and private natural setting. A highlight was watching the aurora borealis from the roof deck!

Great location - subpar home

We were happy with the location. The age of the home shows (some bugs inside and AC issues). The owners attempted to be helpful but lack professionalism when addressing A/C issues. The breaker continued to trip throughout our stay; it seemed like an electrical hazard.

Blue Dune of Happiness

The Blue Dune is the perfect place to get away from the beach crowds, to the beauty of the pristine dunes and beach. With a private end of the street setting by the dunes, a short walk to the beach and waves, and a beautiful tree filled yard, this was a quiet nature filled getaway. All the amenities were excellent, especially the A/C, kitchen, and shower. It includes a rooftop porch for stargazing, a screened in porch for sitting and watching the birds, and a downstairs open sitting area that looks over the lush private back yard. The neighborhoods are perfect for bike riding, near to all the shopping you need, and did I mention the ice cream shop (we went every night)? We loved everything about this vacation and plan to stay at the Blue Dune again!

Great location, short walk to the beach and near stores and restaurants

The house is in great location, short walk to the beach and very convenient to go to stores and restaurants. The house was clean when we checked in. We had 2 adults and 2 pre-teens but in my opinion, this house will be perfect for only 2 adults and a young kid, due to there was only one bathroom, however having outdoor shower makes line for shower manageable. Host Anna was very helpful for the questions we had. There were everything we need in the house except some stuffs and host had mentioned them when we booked, so we’re well prepared.

Quiet place with everything you need

The location is great! Only a short walk over the dunes and you are at the ocean. Since the location is farther down, the beaches were not crowded either. Anne was absolutely great! She gave fishing advice and also was timely with responding whenever needed. This is a great place that is tucked away and is truly a gem. The pictures do not do it justice! Highly recommend for a small group that is able to walk up over dunes.

Blue Dune vaca

Pretty nice for 2 to 4 people. We enjoyed the location although it was a brief walk from home to beach. Well worth the walk though. A few things to remember, bring your bedding, towels, and other petsonals with you. The house was pretty clean, we always try to leave it cleaner than we find it. Bed was very comfortable, seating was sufficient, although we did not do a lot of that. Anne, the host was very helpful with questions and suggestions. Very good value. Will return there in the future.

Great Time at the Beach

This is the quintessential beach house. Right on the beach (behind the dunes) very laid back place with all you need to relax, which is what we were going for after a hectic season of work and life. Decor is great, all appliances and AC worked well. Location on beach and in a small, quiet town is just great.

Be warned: Nothing included, but great location.

The best thing about this property is its proximity to the beach and it’s a good size for a small party. I had zero communication with the property owner prior to my arrival, so I was very surprised when nothing came with the property. By nothing, I mean the following: there was one roll of toilet paper and one trash bag. No bed linens, bath towels or hand towels, kitchen towels, dish soap etc. Because I received no communication from the property manager before I arrived, I was unable to bring anything with me. The property manager claimed that she e-mailed me instructions prior to my arrival, but could provide me no proof. There was no history of receiving this vital information in the VRBO app and no inclusion of these important details in the listing. The cabin wasn’t particularly clean (dead bugs on the floor and crumbs underneath the cutting board). I could not figure out how to turn on the lights in the bedrooms. I expected either basic supplies and/or communication ahead of time so I could have brought them from home. The property manager should edit their listing to include these details. Buying supplies in the Outer Banks is very expensive. If I had known that nothing was provided, I would not have rented this cabin.

Like a Dream.

Nestled in coastal pines and sand dunes give this cottage a very romantic vibe. There are several outdoor spaces to enjoy. Absolutely Beautiful. I would much rather gaze over the nature and wildlife of the dunes than a crowded beach any day. I cannot wait to go back. The hosts were also friendy and welcoming; the cottage was perfectly clean.

Great little beach home!

We stayed here for five nights with our two teenage girls, and enjoyed every minute of it. The house had everything we needed, and the rooftop deck was fantastic for stargazing at night. There is a short trek to the beach over the dunes, but we loved being surrounded by the natural landscape and enjoyed all the wildlife surrounding us (we saw birds, bunnies, deer, crabs galore and even sea turtle tracks on the beach one morning). The air conditioning was much appreciated as it was very hot and humid, and the outdoor shower was great for cleaning off sand. Overall this little beach home had everything we needed for a quiet, peaceful beach stay - thank you!

Behind the dunes

Quaint home in a quiet area behind the dunes with all the basics required. Good for a group of 4. Washing machine encased in a wooden box contraption outdoors was odd, but we made it work. Would recommend brighter lighting throughout the house. Working puzzles and cooking in the evening was difficult due to the low lighting. Enjoyed all the coffee making options available and having appropriate kitchen tools to prep and cook with. Star gazing on the rooftop deck and hearing the waves was a great way to unwind.

Great stay and great property

The property was exactly described by the listing and everything in the house was in good working order. The walk to the beach is in very soft sand and about 1/4 mile, so make sure you have a wagon with wide or blow up wheels if you plan to bring gear. We were fortunate to have a great sand bar our week for surfing and playing in the water. Close to small but well stocked market and several restaurants, but prob more bike ride distance than a walk. The house was well stocked with everything we needed to cook meals at the house and we really enjoyed having the outside grill for cookouts. Thanks for a wonderful time!

Beautiful location

The property was right on the beach. We walked over two small sand dunes and was greeted by an amazing view of the ocean. Lots of vegatation on the sand dunes.

A great time on the beach

What a great property. Very nice location with a private beach access. After seeing how crowded the public areas are, this is worth the rental in and of itself. Clean and easy to get to, this is a place we would recommend and return to.

Great little house in a Wonderful Area

Everything was great even though the weather didn't cooperate with us. The house and area are perfect for a quiet getaway. There is no clothes dryer at the house, so keep that in mind. My favorite little hidden gem is the outdoor shower. All in all 5 out of 5!
