Hello! Welcome to Shell Cottage in beautiful Salvo on Hatteras Island. Thank you for your interest. We are located on a quiet street and just 390 feet from the beach access and a few minutes’ drive to a beach day-use park on the sound side. Traditional beach box bungalow. Come and enjoy a cozy and comfortable getaway vacation! This classic beach bungalow is clean, fresh, and comfortable. Great getaway for a couple or small family, kite boarder, and surfers. Have a great, relaxing time at our beautiful beach, never crowded with its golden sands. Enjoy a great day of surf fishing or sunbathing and come out at night with your flashlights and go ghost crab hunting. The roads are quiet and safe to walk or ride your bike to the day-use park. Get away from the hustle and bustle of life. Relax on the deck at night and watch the sky full of stars, so close you feel like you could touch them, or in the screened porch while enjoying your barbeque from the charcoal grill provided. Swim, fish, surf or kiteboard, windsurf, kayak or paddleboard on sound side. Salvo day-use park is perfect for a family with little ones where the water is shallow and warm. Rinse off in the outside shower! General store within walking distance. Lots of places to rent bikes, boards, kayaks, fishing gear, all close by. Whether you are looking for adventure or just wanting to chill on the beach, cast your worries aside and come enjoy a simple, fun, and relaxing vacation.

(Colony Dr. is a very quiet beach road, no traffic except for residents who live or vacation in Hatteras Colony ). The frequent visits from the ice cream and Kona Ice trucks are a plus!

This property offers all basic amenities and had everything we needed for our stay, we eat in so having kitchen essentials is important. This rental had a good store of kitchen accessories. Our dog also enjoyed the stay.

The space was as described and depicted in the photos. There was plenty of space for us and we appreciated the ability to cool just the space we were using. The outdoor shower was great and the lights allowed us to rinse of after late evenings on the beach.

We have stayed at this property a few times and we always are pleased with it and our stay.Its very clean and well stocked with everything that you could need. Its a short walk to the beach and on a quite street.Traci is always very quick to respond and a fantastic host!The new addition of the mini split AC units in the two bedrooms made a huge difference in how cool the house stayed especially in this heat. They were also very quite.

Perfect little cottage for a family of 4! Breach access is very close. Neighborhood is quiet and the beach was never crowded. The cottage was very well stocked and we loved the screened in porch. We are hoping to come back next year!

Just as described. Cozy and clean. Short walk down to the beautiful beach. We loved the screened in porch and the picnic table outside. Perfect location for a fun and relaxing stay on the Outer Banks.

The place was very clean and neat. Location was great for what we paid. The area is pet friendly. Our Betty was cozy. The steps were a little tough. Overall we were very happy with our stay.

We frequent VRBO’s due to work / travel. One of the best stays we have had a long time. Pet friendly, extremely clean and comfortable. Beautiful decorations and easy beach access. Perfect, friendly neighborhood, close to all things on the main strip. Check out Waves Corner Store! 10/10 people and food. Will definitely hope to make this our regular spot in OBX!

Nice little place. No lighting on the front screened in porch. Had to use our lantern to sit out past sunset. Comfortable and close to the beach, price was good except 110 cleaning fee was excessive for such a small place. Description blames covid for needing deep cleaning? Plus if you use any towels, dish rags, sheets etc they want you to wash, dry and fold then put them back where they came from. Wonder what the cleaning crew does? Another Con: No shampoo, soap, etc. Bring your own.Overall a nice place on a quiet street with access to the beach.

Great little cottage

Perfect place for a family with pets. It was very well furnished and has everything you might need while you’re there. Very clean and easy check in process. Looking forward to staying again!

Wonderful Stay!

We really enjoyed our stay at the cozy beach cottage! It was very clean upon arrival, and was stocked with all necessary items. We definitely recommend this cottage for a cozy getaway!

Excellent stay

We were really happy with our stay. House was really clean, practical layout and organization, and was a really easy walk to the beach, even for our young kids. This place is definitely a “find.”

This charming, perfectly located cottage in Salvo was an absolute delight. The beach is just a short walk away, along with plenty of other conveniences, making it an ideal spot to relax and unwind. I intentionally chose to visit in April before the crowds arrived, and it turned out to be the perfect time for a peaceful, rejuvenating week.The home itself was spotless; truly vacation-ready. I especially loved the thoughtful pop culture touches throughout, from the framed Archie comics to the wall of Pez dispensers and the retro appliances. The space is beautifully furnished with just the right amount of décor, comfortable and inviting without ever feeling cluttered.It was also wonderful to bring my pups along. They thoroughly enjoyed the side porch and the screened-in front porch, and it was great knowing they were just as welcome inside as outside.On a personal note, the location made this stay even more special: it’s only a few blocks from my niece and her husband, and I loved being able to walk over for dinner with them most evenings.I will absolutely be renting this cottage on Cutlass again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing and thoughtfully curated getaway.
