Welcome to Bear Cub 1! Back on inventory in 2026 after renovations and redecorating, this cabin was formerly named Cricket Hill and then Helen Cabin 1.
This cozy little cabin is located in Helen. Less than half a mile from Betty's Country Store and 2 miles from Unicoi State Park, you have the best of both worlds in nature and a small Bavarian town in the North Georgia Mountains.
The master bedroom is located on the main floor. This room features a queen bed and a back deck. Enjoy a soak and massage in the indoor jetted garden tub or take a relaxing shower in the master bathroom. The loft area has a queen bed and its own bathroom with a walk-in shower. The door in the loft also leads outside to a small deck. There is also streaming television and WiFi internet service. The Roku TV channel offers free live television. Don't forget to bring your login information for your Netflix, Hulu and other channel subscriptions.
The kitchen is fully equipped with a microwave, toaster and a dual standard drip and k-cup coffee maker. Enjoy any meal al fresco with the table, umbrella and four chairs on the same deck. Please note that the fireplace at Bear Cub 1 is currently non-functional.
Bear Cub 1 is within the town limits of Helen, GA. Helen is one of the most beautiful sections of Northeast Georgia. This mountain community has a wide variety of natural attractions. Whether sightseeing on the North Georgia Mountains, visiting the beautiful Anna Ruby Falls, hiking the Appalachian Trail, or tubing down the Chattahoochee River, this Bavarian town has something for everyone. The area also holds more than 200 specialty and import shops.
This is a pet-friendly cabin and a one-time per-pet fee will be added if you bring your dog(s). The pet fees that will be added to your reservation are $100 + tax for the first and $50 + tax for each additional.
Just next door is Bear Cub 2, formerly Firefly Hill and then Helen Cabin 2. Booking both cabins would be a great location for a group of up to 8 guests.
• Minimum Age Requirement: Bear Cub 1 is available to families or to guests 21 years or older.
• Parking: Space is available for 2 vehicles.
• Access: The road and parking are dirt and gravel.
• Pets: No more than Two Pets are allowed at Bear Cub 1.

Loved the trip got to bond with my daughter some more loved the cabin loved the staff at the company. The only thing is the cabin could’ve been a little bit cleaner. We had a lot of dead spiders attached to the furniture and a lot of cobwebs.

Nice little secluded cabin
Our stay was short but we really enjoyed the cabin. It is nice and secluded but surprisingly close to everything. We would stay here again.

Not as pet friendly as they make it out to be make sure you read all fine print. Ended up not bringing dogs after we planned the trip specifically to bring them. Not the cleanest ever considering the dead bugs in the floors, dusty headboards, and mouse droppings on the couch. Other than that the cabin is nice and location is relaxing.

Relaxing!!
The cabin was so nice and quiet!! There are other cabins around but it still felt secluded. We will absolutely be staying here again!!

Great spot close to the town, but not in it.
This is a great location with everything you would want in convenience and amenities. It is also in the woods and feels like you are in the Georgia mountains far away from home.

Cabin is beautiful, well stocked and clean. Owner and staff do a nice job.

Close to town, while being far away.
Check in was easy and the host called to confirm everything was ok. It's a great spot, 5 minutes from town but in the middle of the woods at the same time. We had a great time.

Great time
Came to Helen for my daughters wedding, Couldn’t have asked for a better place. Very close to the center of town. The cabin itself was one of the cleanest Vrbo’s I have ever been to. Would definitely return, or highly recommend to anyone.

Clean, nice & secluded
This cabin was really clean and beautiful . It was secluded and peaceful and close to town . My husband and I enjoyed very much . The only thing I could see being an issue is smaller vehicles that don’t have 4 wheel drive might have a hard time getting up the road to the cabin.

Cricket Hill
This property is so cute and perfect! Quiet and secluded yet close to everything. We even got to see some wildlife. Communication was excellent with easy check in and out. Plenty of amenities for convenience. Very clean.

Exactly what we were looking for!!!
The wife and I booked this rental to meet up with out of town friends for the weekend. Very quiet yet super close to town. Had everything we needed. Great communication. Had no issues getting there with an AWD wagon. Thanks!!!

Cricket Hill
We loved staying here. The cabin is so cute and well designed. So conveniently located. If you need groceries there’s a market called Bettie’s and others are out of town. Everything’s no worked it smelled fresh and clean we will be back. The deck isn’t as inviting as you’d expect being tucked in the trees so far but it’s still wonderful.

Greta, thank you for staying with us. The back deck has tree sap on it from the pines and we can not get it off. It looks like bird droppings but it is not.

Cabin was nice, needs some outdoor furniture on back and front deck. A nice comfortable chair in cabin would be nice. Back deck has a bad sap issue, needs a covering of some sort.

Great little cabin, beware of road.
The cabin was nice, but the road to the cabin left much to be desired. If I did not have an SUV I doubt I would have been able to reach the cabin. The road was rutted with a lot of loose gravel. I lost traction several times and had to find another line to avoid undercarriage damage.
Besides the road we enjoyed our stay.

The road is almost impassible. I was afraid trying to get up it or go down it. Visitors need a four wheel drive to get to the cabin. I wouldn't stay there again. The den space is too small .

Robyn, I agree with the road. When Samantha spoke with you we tried to move you to another property. We have blocked all future dates for this property, and are waiting for the owner to repair the road. We will let you know as soon as it is completed . Thank you for staying with us.

Very clean
Cabin is cute, nothing elaborate, but was nice and clean. The location was lovely, way in the woods.
Only negative thing was the dirt road to access the cabin had some significant ruts. Beware if you drive a small car that is low to the ground you might have trouble.
The rental agency was very attentive. They called to check on us after a sto caused a power outage in the area.
