Historic modernized Steiner cabin in the Mountain Air community. It was built in 1921, but it boasts everything a house in 2025 should have.
The house itself has had a lot of love put into it. It is the cozy retreat you are looking for that feels just like home.
Located just a short walk down from the cabin is the Sandy River. There is a nice trail deeded in with the property that features a relaxing bench along the river, and sandy beaches that provide plenty of places for you to fish, meditate, or just let you and your dog chill and enjoy the smells and scenery.
Just across the highway is the BLM's Wildwood Recreation Day Use Site. It is located on the Salmon River. It is the perfect place for any age. Informational and historical plaques describe the ecosystems and local culture, and it features plenty of daytime waterfront picnic sites, hiking/biking trail, ADA trails, a playground area, swimming areas, and a volleyball net.
The highlight is the underwater viewing chamber where you can witness the mama salmon heading to their nesting grounds, and the baby fry just getting started out in life.
The boardwalk beaver wetlands that is full of red wing black birds is also a top favorite.
The property is a perfectly flat half acre with lots of 80-100 year old trees and 2 open lawn spaces on which to play fetch, etc.
The kitchen comes fully stocked and there is a Weber gas grill on the front deck, as well as outdoor dining furniture/dishes. You have everything you need to cook a nice family meal together.
The bedding is cozy and luxurious on all the beds - a good night's sleep is important when you're adventuring.
One of the bedrooms is in the rec-room outbuilding, which also boasts a bar, pool table, HDTV smart Samsung, new gaming systems, stereo, mini fridge, microwave, blender, toaster oven, sauna, and a private courtyard with a fire pit and hot tub. This place was built for anyone to be able to relax and have a great time. Great place for teens to hang out with their friends as well!
There is wifi all over the property and the internet is blazing fast.
Wood pellet stoves in both buildings provide the coziness of a wood stove without any hassle of starting a fire yourself.
The location is excellent!
In the summertime it's a scenic walk down Wemme Trail or Mountain Air drive to get to the restaurant district in Welches which has many gems. In the wintertime we are 13 miles from Ski Bowl, 20 miles to Timberline, and 25 miles to Mt Hood Meadows.
Mountain biking, snow shoeing, skiing, hiking, fishing, and mountaineering are some of the top activities in this area.
Sandy Ridge Bike Park is less than a 10 minute drive.
The house is close to the highway, but the trees are so dense that it is perfectly quiet in the house and outside it's muffled and just sounds windy during the busiest times. The house recently had new windows and doors installed which helps to block out noise.
The weekends are a bit louder outside since there is so much more traffic, but there is so much to do in the house’s immediate vicinity that finding peace and quiet is never challenging
