Rocky Waters Vineyard/Winery Guest House Hanover IL

The Fisherman’s Cabin is located on the property of Rocky Waters Vineyard & Winery Estate nestled in the properties rolling hills by the vineyards. Walk out the front door of the cabin to a 5-acre private lake with beach that’s fully stocked with Large Mouth Bass, Catfish, and Bluegill. Perfect for fishing, swimming, and canoeing.

The Guest Cabin has 4 beds (sleeping up to 8 people) and three bathrooms. Main level has a master bedroom (King Size Bed) with an on-suite bathroom, laundry room, kitchen, and living/dining area. Upstairs is a loft (Queen Size Bed) with an on-suite bathroom, and lower garden with two queen beds with an on-suite bathroom as well. All bathrooms are stocked with towels for your stay. The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes, utensils, coffee maker, microwave, oven, refrigerator, and dishwasher. Rocky Waters Fisherman’s Cabin is located not far from Elizabeth and approximately 18 miles from Historic Downtown Galena IL.

There is a 2 night minimum requirement and holiday weekend stays require a 3 night minimum. Up to 3 dogs may be allowed with the approval of the property owners in order to maintain the integrity of property. A non-refundable fee of $40/night per pet.

If your looking for a quiet area to unplug and unwind while enjoying the outdoor life, the Fisherman’s Cabin is truly a perfect spot to stay. During your stay, come visit the Rocky Waters Vineyard Winery Estate deck area to sample some of their award winning wines. There are also kayaks & fishing poles available for rent. 4-wheel drive or AWD is recommended especially during winter months as cabin is down in valley of property.

The cabin had everything we needed and more. Wish we could have stayed longer. It's been on my bucket list to stay there since the first time we visited the winery years ago. Loved it

Great Cabin

What a great house and property. Located near Galena, Mississippi River and a various state parks/trails. The house was perfect, clean, had everything needed for family of 5. Had dinner and a tasting at the main winery bldg on property. Property management/owners were accessible the entire stay and were very helpful. Tons of property to explore, fishing/spending time on lake, s’mores over the fire pit at night, fall colors everywhere. Entire family really enjoyed the long weekend on this property.

Awesome place

Everything was as advertised. Kitchen is well stocked and the place was clean. The winery is very nice and it was fun talking with the owners and hearing the history of the place. We had a blast hanging around the campfire at night. Definitely would stay here again.

Great stay with great weather

The property IS GORGEOUS. A lot of wildlife. The cabin is great. It has a lot of steep steps and hills. The place is great if the weather is great. We would have felt pretty cramped if the weather kept us inside - though, I guess we'd have spent more time at the winery. (Only open until 4 or 5pm) The wifi does not reach the beach, no cell service there. The TV in the family area is very old. The beach could use another load of sand, but we were there late in the season. (August) *IF YOU DRIVE A CAR, YOU MAY NOT GO BACK UP THE DRIVE TO THE CABIN. You need 4 wheel drive. There was no mention of the steep, curvy, rutted, gravel trail to the house. Our Mazda 5 (not a tough car). Was stuck several times and smoking and full of rocks by the time we got back out of there at checkout. We would still be there if we hadn't had 3 dry days. Overall, a great stay. House has everything else you need and oozes charm. You just need good knees and a SUV with some go!

Idyllic lake house

Wonderful, quiet spot. Dogs loved swimming in the lake and roaming around. Had a wonderful visit to the winery as well.

Beautiful cabin on winery

We rented the “fishing” cabin for a milestone birthday with five women. The cabin is clean, decorated so nice and had all the amenities we needed. There is a nice pond for fishing, canoeing, pedal boat. We did not use them, but they were cleaned and ready for us. The porch that overlooks the pond was our favorite spot. We saw deer, huge turkeys, and the variety of birds was awesome. Cabin is fully equipped. Expect the steep and curvy driveway to the cabin. I would not want to do that in rain or snow. Host replied to all requests and questions promptly. The winery is family run and we enjoyed tasting their wines on the winery patio. The only thing we wished they had at the cabin was labels on light switches as to what switch turned on what lights- but we figured it out. If you love the quiet and hearing the birds singing - this place is for you! Downtown Galena is 20 minutes away and very fun town for shopping/dining/tours. We will definitely return and hopefully spend more time on the property.

Cozy & Relaxing

We stayed with a group of friends and our pups and had an amazing time. The cabin is so cozy and inviting. We had a fire going and didn’t turn the tv on once. The vineyard is beautiful to walk through and the winery has a cozy lodge feeling and the friendliest staff. We had the pleasure of waking up to the first snow of the season and it was breathtaking over the lake. Highly recommend this home for a getaway from all of the noise of the city. Kyle couldn’t have been nicer and we are so grateful for his hospitality. Will definitely be back!

Just the getaway we needed!

Weekend Getaway

Perfect place if you want to get away from it all with little to no cell service and just enjoy those around you! My friends and I decided to stay here celebrating my wife's 30th birthday and we could not have been happier. The private pond is great for fishing and relaxing. The steep slope driveway makes you feel like you're transporting to another place in time! My friends and I have already considered planning another trip here next year with additional day of stay.

AMAZING Views!

My family and I (group of 9) and our fur babies recently stayed here for 4 days/3 nights. The location is breath taking! You see nature at its best! The cabin was clean, and very cute! A tad bit small for my group (we have 3 tall, fit young adults, too big for bunks) but it would be ideal for smaller groups. It is stocked with plenty of dishes and they start you off with the rest so you'll need to bring your own paper towels, toilet paper, condiments, etc. The water/sandy area are very nice! We brought an oversized float and spent a lot of time in it on the water! which worked for us because there are 3 portable lounge chairs you can use and we would have needed more. I would also recommend having seating by the fire pit! We went up to the winery (sits at the top from the cabin) and tasted some delicious wine! Highly recommend you bring an all wheel drive vehicle, we had one that wasn't and it was rough getting out and going up that very steep hill! Overall, great experience!

Family Christmas get away!

Omg we had so much fun. The lake is fun for everyone. We fished, swam, took the canoe and paddle boat out several times. The cabin was well stocked. The kids loved the whirlpool bath. Having three bathrooms was wonderful. They do have wi-fi tv, even tho we were so busy we rarely used it. We really enjoyed the porch area. I’m sure we will be back. My daughter and I even snuck away to do a wine tasting!

Beautiful, secluded spot

The cabin is absolutely gorgeous. Note that the queen loft and basement bedrooms both lack doors (though the basement bedroom has the benefit of being downstairs and therefore a bit more private). The queen loft is right above the main congregating areas (kitchen/living room) and doesn’t have a door or wall, so if you’re staying with multiple couples, it’s something to be aware of. The driveway is QUITE steep, as noted in the listing - our friends with a van had issues getting back up - but the two of us with SUVs were fine. It’s a solid 30 minutes to any real grocery or convenience store, so pack accordingly! Great fishing in the lake as well.
