If the south swell is strong, the famous wave "Freight Trains" attracts expert surfers from around the globe. A short walk south along the sidewalk leads to Haycraft Park and Sugar Beach, Maui's longest undeveloped stretch of sand. This tranquil beach is perfect for swimming, walking, jogging, birdwatching, and shell hunting, all while escaping the crowds. The beach extends for miles and eventually connects with the community of Kihei.
To the north, less than a mile away, you'll find the shops and restaurants at Ma'alaea Harbor. The harbor is a hub for activities, including snorkel and tour boats to Molokini Crater, sunset dinner cruises, and family-friendly attractions like the Pacific Whale Foundation, Maui Ocean Center, and Maui Golf and Sports Park, which offers miniature golf, trampolines, rock climbing, and bumper boats.
