Discover Villa Sun Monkey, an exceptional vacation villa nestled in the quiet beach community of Playa Hermosa. Only five minutes north of Playas Del Coco and 25 minutes from Liberia International Airport (LIR).

Sun Monkey offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the Papagayo Peninsula. We welcome families, groups, retreats and privacy seekers to an unforgettable Costa Rican experience.
This exquisite Villa features a main house and a guest house, totaling 8,000+ square feet of living space. Five suites in the main house, including 4 ocean-view master bedrooms and an ensuite bunk + queen room. Sun Monkey accommodates up to 16 standard or optionally up to 22 guests. Each suite includes luxurious private bathroom, individual air conditioning, walk-out porch or balcony, black-out shades/curtains, and closet space ensuring a comfortable stay for every guest.

Many guests have commented that the pictures do not do justice to our magnificent view. When you walk through the wide folded up door, the view is Stunning! Please come to experience the incredible Sunsets and Stargazing.

Villa Sun Monkey not only provides an idyllic setting but also a range of exclusive house services. Our dedicated team offers grocery shopping, bar stocking, and various options for chefs or personal bartender. Please inquire with management as we provide (with RAVE reviews) multiple options for all meals to meet the service level and/or budget requirements and culinary needs of diverse groups.

The Villa features a stunning 60-foot infinity swimming pool with a stunning pavilion for entertainment and relaxation, and a large hot tub/spa between the pool and pavilion. A separate rancho with a wet bar and outdoor barbecue grill adds to the villa's entertainment space. Indoors, you'll find a well-equipped kitchen, spacious living areas, and a den/office with a flat-screen TV.

Sun Monkey's 1.75-acre professionally landscaped grounds create a private and serene atmosphere, complemented by local fruit trees, flowers, and animals such as parrots and iguanas. The villa is double-gated, and onsite water storage, ensuring your safety and peace of mind throughout your stay.

Can't beat this view!

We loved our stay at this property as it was plenty of room for our family of 13! The pool was a hit with our kds and the view was amazing. The property manager was very accommodating and helpful to our family and tended to any needs we had. The location was perfect - a short drive to Playa del Coco and an even shorter drive to Playa del Hermosa. We highly recommend this property!

Multi family stay

Absolutely fantastic view, very well laid out with great bathrooms and bedrooms and well stocked kitchen. Golf carts are great for short trips and teens to take to the beach. Property manager and concierge and housekeeping were all attentive and very nice.

Beautiful Home

We had such a great time staying at the property and it was a perfect fit for our large group. The view is amazing and we really liked being in a gated community. Macho and Maria made things very easy and helped with anything we needed. We would definitely stay here again!

Overall, we had an incredible stay. Bret was a fantastic host and Maria took great care of us at the house. Photos do not do the house justice. It is a beautiful setting, plenty of space for the group to spread out for alone time or to spend time together. Aircon in the rooms were great. Fully stocked, Beautiful views. I couldn't recommend this place enough.

The villa was everything it showed in the VRBO listing. It was beautiful, well kept and the views could not be matched. But even better, were our hosts, Macho and Maria who did everything possible to be sure we had a wonderful vacation

Almost heaven

Amazing time with family and wonderful memories made. Best pool we’ve ever enjoyed!! Can’t beat the view. Large areas to gather family inside and on the patio with huge opening doors in between. Great restaurants nearby too. Enjoy!!

Great Family Vacation

House & property were amazing. Can’t beat the sunsets. Took the best snorkeling trip ever which included dolphins, manta rays, octopus, tons of fish & sea turtles! Zip lining was a blast as well. Macho & Maria were great and provided whatever we needed. Highly recommend booking this property and can’t wait to go back!

Beautiful property

We absolutely loved our stay at the Sun Monkey property. Maria and Macho really make the experience wonderful. We had Maria cook us a dinner (something I would highly recommend. Her food is delicious) and Macho brought in a traditional Costa Rican guitarist to serenade us while we ate. They were also very helpful in finding excursions and renting equipment to play on the beach. Loved every minute of our stay here.

WOW!

What an amazing place. The entire place was as advertised. So comfortable, so beautiful. The pool and view were the best for pure relaxation. Macho and Maria were the absolute best. Truly the “genies” making your wishes happen. I would absolutely recommend this spot to other families for a great vacation.

Happy with the Sun Monkey

The rental process was seamless and the owner is very easy to work with. Also, onsite the property is managed very well by a couple who can assist with cooking, cleaning, directions, recommendations etc. We were bummed that the hot tub and pool can not be used at the same time.

Relaxing Paradise

What a wonderful trip!!! The house was beautiful and the pictures of the views don't do it justice. Everything was so easily accessible by golf cart! Macho and Maria were just the best! We are still raving about Maria's dinners and how much we loved Macho! Thank you Sun Monkey for the wonderful memories!!!

Stunning Views!

We just completed our stay at Sun Monkey a group of 14 ranging in ages from 16 - 90 years old. There was something for everyone. The architecture and views from all the common areas are absolutely breathtaking from dawn to dusk. While the house is older, it is a good value . What was most impressive was the responsiveness of the house managers Manrique and Brett. We changed our plans a few times and they were always able to accommodate. Jay the chef is fabulous and definitely a great idea for large groups. The rain forest hike was amazing we saw poisonous dart frogs to baby Toucans. On the river boat tour the monkeys and crocodiles were within touching distance. Great property and well managed

Amazing

The pool and multiple outdoor patios are enormous— much bigger than they appear in the photos. The house is beautiful, and the view is spectacular! Macho and Maria, the property managers, are just wonderful! So friendly and helpful, they feel like family. We had Maria make dinner for us twice, and it was the best food we had in Costa Rica! We would definitely come back!

Delightful Family Vacation

We were a family of 17, ages 9 - 75. There was plenty of room for everyone. The pool and outdoor seating areas were perfect. The location was good. Walkable to the beach - 20 minutes - (uphill in the sun on the way back was tough for some). The caretaker responded to queries promptly and satisfactorily. The views were great, and the property overall was outstanding. Highly recommend.

Entrepreneur extraordinaire who wanted a piece of paradise to relax at. I have travelled all over the world. Visited nearly every island in Caribbean, and Mexico looking for the right combination of tropical living, affordability, things to do, safety, and a stable government. Costa Rica is the best. The people are very nice and not resentful of foreigners. There is not the poverty nor crime of other countries. There is such an eclectic mix of people from all over the world who come here to vacation, snowbird, or full time living, it is very exciting!

I looked at 50 Villas and as soon as I walked into Sun Monkey, I knew it to be home. Unless you have spent some time in this area, it is difficult to to explain the differences between SM and other homes in this price range. Location, location, location. Very close to beach, but away from hubub. Very short and easy drive from main road. Large 1.75 acres of lush private gardens. Private enough to host a nudist group! The extra pavilion structure is very special. It provides another gathering place, enabling a large group or family to spread out and not feel on top of one another. It regularly hosts morning exercise sessions, afternoon naps, 15 people doing yoga, and twilight evenings rocking & watching magnificent Sunsets, with a cold one. We have had the pool redone and added sun shelves to linger on. A new hot tub spa is installed between pool and pavilion. Hidden Outdoor shower could have been built by Fred Flintstone and receives interesting reviews by guests!
And we have the best full time property management. Malinche Properties make your vacation effortless. Owning two restaurants and a brewery provide us the platform to offer numerous chef and meal options from "white tablecloth" to simple BBQ's.

HUGE 60' pool. Spa/Hot Tub. Outdoor Pavilion. Ocean view Casita (guest house) is close enough to main house (30 feet) where all feel part of group, but great place for young adults who need own space. Covered rancho with wet bar and grill. Multiple "spaces" for a large group to spread out to. Bunk room for kids, cousins, and friends. Never feeling crowded.
