Sun Monkey offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the Papagayo Peninsula. We welcome families, groups, retreats and privacy seekers to an unforgettable Costa Rican experience.
This exquisite Villa features a main house and a guest house, totaling 8,000+ square feet of living space. Five suites in the main house, including 4 ocean-view master bedrooms and an ensuite bunk + queen room. Sun Monkey accommodates up to 16 standard or optionally up to 22 guests. Each suite includes luxurious private bathroom, individual air conditioning, walk-out porch or balcony, black-out shades/curtains, and closet space ensuring a comfortable stay for every guest.

Many guests have commented that the pictures do not do justice to our magnificent view. When you walk through the wide folded up door, the view is Stunning! Please come to experience the incredible Sunsets and Stargazing.

Villa Sun Monkey not only provides an idyllic setting but also a range of exclusive house services. Our dedicated team offers grocery shopping, bar stocking, and various options for chefs or personal bartender. The Villa features a stunning 60-foot infinity swimming pool with a stunning pavilion for entertainment and relaxation, and a large hot tub/spa between the pool and pavilion. A separate rancho with a wet bar and outdoor barbecue grill adds to the villa's entertainment space. Indoors, you'll find a well-equipped kitchen, spacious living areas, and a den/office with a flat-screen TV.

Sun Monkey's 1.75-acre professionally landscaped grounds create a private and serene atmosphere, complemented by local fruit trees, flowers, and animals such as parrots and iguanas. The villa is double-gated, and onsite water storage, ensuring your safety and peace of mind throughout your stay.

Can't beat this view!

We loved our stay at this property as it was plenty of room for our family of 13! The pool was a hit with our kds and the view was amazing. The property manager was very accommodating and helpful to our family and tended to any needs we had. The location was perfect - a short drive to Playa del Coco and an even shorter drive to Playa del Hermosa. We highly recommend this property!

Multi family stay

Absolutely fantastic view, very well laid out with great bathrooms and bedrooms and well stocked kitchen. Golf carts are great for short trips and teens to take to the beach. Property manager and concierge and housekeeping were all attentive and very nice.

Amazing Ocean View House with Infinity Pool

This ocean view house in Playa Hermosa, Costa Rica, is simply amazing. The infinity pool offers stunning views of the Pacific, especially at sunset. The house is spacious, modern, and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The location is great! Close to the beach and local spots. The host was extremely helpful, and Playa Hermosa’s natural beauty is unmatched. Highly recommend this place for a Costa Rica getaway!

Exceptional property

As first time travelers to Costa Rica, we had many unknowns. We are thankful we chose Sun Monkey. The house and staff were exceptional. There were 12 of us with five kids under 10. Bret was invaluable in helping us plan all excursions, our chefs, and caring for any needs we had. He was very patient with our many questions which we appreciated. The house was more than adequate and accommodated all of us comfortably. We had room to spread out as well as gorgeous common areas to enjoy family time. Clean, comfortable, and well stocked. The pool was just amazing and there are no words to describe the incredible view. The sunsets were spectacular. We opted to get a professional photographer one evening and are glad we did. Bret planned all of our excursions. We stayed local as we didn’t want to travel far with a two-year-old. We went to a Park, snorkeling excursion, the guys went fishing and the girls had massages at the house. We had a lovely day at the beach where the staff set up a cover/chairs for us at a beautiful spot. All excursions were enjoyable, especially the catamaran where to the delight of our grandchildren we saw many dolphins! The chefs were all fantastic! There are several in our family that are excellent cooks, and they were impressed with all of our meals! Chef Francis was amazing and even prepared delicious food that some of our picky grandkids loved! Our stay was all we hoped it would be and more. We will be back to Sun Monkey again when time allows.

Stunning Views!

We just completed our stay at Sun Monkey a group of 14 ranging in ages from 16 - 90 years old. There was something for everyone. The architecture and views from all the common areas are absolutely breathtaking from dawn to dusk. While the house is older, it is a good value . What was most impressive was the responsiveness of the house managers Manrique and Brett. We changed our plans a few times and they were always able to accommodate. Jay the chef is fabulous and definitely a great idea for large groups. The rain forest hike was amazing we saw poisonous dart frogs to baby Toucans. On the river boat tour the monkeys and crocodiles were within touching distance. Great property and well managed

Amazing Property!!!

We had the best time. This property was everything that was advertised and more. Bret was amazing to work with. He arranged transportation, dinner reservations, excursions, grocery delivery, and even a personal chef for us. The layout of the house was perfect for our group of 11. Every bedroom had its own bathroom!! Such a huge plus. The view from the back of the house was breathtaking. Never seen anything like that before. We had a couple of golf carts which worked awesome for getting to dinners or quick trips to the grocery store that was right by the property. Can’t say enough about this proper and trip. Thank you Bret and all the other people that made it such an amazing trip. Looking forward to returning again soon.

Overall, we had an incredible stay. Bret was a fantastic host and Maria took great care of us at the house. Photos do not do the house justice. It is a beautiful setting, plenty of space for the group to spread out for alone time or to spend time together. Aircon in the rooms were great. Fully stocked, Beautiful views. I couldn't recommend this place enough.

Such a beautiful gem!

What an incredible property. The photos don’t do it justice—the property is even more beautiful and spacious in person! The owner Peter and the property manager Bret met us upon check-in, and showed us around the property to ensure we know where everything was. The Villa easily acommodates our party of 12 adults. We had everything we needed during the stay; filtered water, ice maker, fully equipped kitchen, coffee maker, towels and soaps. The location is perfect! So close to local stores and beach. When some hiccups occurred, Peter and Bret were quick to respond and resolve. Overall, Sun Monkey Villa has made our trip to Costa Rica such a memorable experience. We highly recommend this Villa to anyone looking for spacious and luxurious accommodation during their stay.

Beautiful Property, Great Experience

The property lived up to and surpassed our expectations, the pictures don't do it justice. We had a group of 10 adults and it fit us all with space to spare. It would have been nice if there were more queen or king beds but that would probably make it less accommodating to families. It was great that each bedroom had it's own bathroom. Macho and Maria kept the house and grounds in good order while we were there and were available whenever we needed anything. While the nearby town and beach are technically walkable, I wouldn't recommend it, the property is in a gated community with a steep driveway. Parking wasn't hard to find.

Amazing place to stay!

Girls Weekend

We were looking to have a girls weekend in Costa Rica. The Villa comfortably fit all 12 of us. The community is double gated which made the house of ladies feel extra good. Bret and Peter were unbelievable. Felt like working with a 5-star concierge at a resort! They organized massage therapists to come to the house, they stocked our villa with food and alcohol, they arranged all transportation, booked all our restaurants for us, booked our zip line AND a private catamaran. It was a once in a lifetime trip and we didn’t want to say goodbye. Hoping we will be back again soon.

Great property and hospitality

The property is amazing! Great outdoor area/verandas with gorgeous view of the ocean! We saw many beautiful birds, iguanas and monkeys on the property! The pool is large, clean and gorgeous as well! Macho and Maria were amazing! I read in a previous review that Macho wanders in and out frequently. That was absolutely NOT the case during our stay! He purchased the groceries from the list I gave him ahead of time so that we had plenty of food and beverages when we arrived. We were a group of 8 women ranging in age from 25-69. None of us wanted to worry about cooking meals so we had Maria cook dinners for us. Everything she made was fantastic! I highly recommend arranging meals with her if you want to just relax and enjoy! We rented golf carts and were able to use them to go to the beach very easily! Macho and Maria made our stay exactly as we planned! I can’t wait to return! I can’t imagine anyone not enjoying their stay and the host’s hospitality!

Felt like a Movie Star

The outdoor space with infinite pool, balcony, patio and ocean view made us feel like we were living in a movie! The home is beautiful, quiet, double gated and located on the side of the hills overlooking the ocean. The kitchen was well appointed with spices, cookware and dishware. The owner as well as the hosts was very quick to respond when we wanted to extend our stay. We would highly recommend this home!

Of 12 Trip

Our whole family of 12 enjoyed the Sun Money home for 5 days! And then we sent the family home and my husband and I stayed an additional 4 days! Was in a perfect location to see a lot of Costa Rica! House had everything we needed! Maria and Macho were there when needed. We used our own personal concierge that was a friend of a friend from home so these are services we didn't use from the house but were offered! Would definitely return to the Sun Monkey on a trip back to Costa Rica!!

Beautiful Home

We had such a great time staying at the property and it was a perfect fit for our large group. The view is amazing and we really liked being in a gated community. Macho and Maria made things very easy and helped with anything we needed. We would definitely stay here again!

Sun Monkey Doesn't Disappoint!

We just spent a wonderful week at the Sun Monkey. We are a group of 3 families that travel together every year. Finding a home that can accommodate all of us and allow us to relax and spend time together isn't always easy. The Sum Monkey was perfect. Rooms was very comfortable and the outdoor space was used constantly. Macho and Maria are incredible hosts. Macho helped arrange transportation from the airport and gave us a quick tour of the area when we arrived. He also arranged for golf carts for the week so we didn't need rentals. Maria made wonderful dinners for us (we are still trying to recreate some of her delicious food) and the referral for Sibu Tours was perfect. We didn't really have to plan anything until we arrived. The house felt very secure and was convenient to the beach, restaurants and grocery stores. It's obvious that some nice updates have been made to the house. There are still some issues that need to be repaired/updated, but nothing that impacted our trip. Playa Hermosa isn't a big tourist area. It is quiet and beautiful. Loved watching sunsets from poolside at the house. One note - for a lot of activities, cash is preferred and sometimes required. Pura Vida!

INCREDIBLE VIEWS

Sun Monkey Villa is an Incredible home situated on a hill overseeing the Beautiful Playa Hermosa. Each of the main houses guest rooms have wonderful views and are the perfect way to wake up each morning. The main living area has grand doors opening to the infinity pool which share the same Wonderful views of Playa Hermosa. Lots of time was spent in the pool and experiencing these views. Property is working on updating a few features, which hadn’t been completed yet ( replacing stovetop) but this didn’t prevent us from having great meals with our large 14 person group. Outdoor areas were well used by us as most of our time was spent in pool, on cover patio, where massages took place and Uber outdoor kitchen area cooking and playing games. Host couple Macho and Maria are wonderful people who we’re always on premise to assist us with ANY matters of concern or experiences we wanted to take part in (Dinner reservations, excursions or just picking up some groceries) This was an experience of a lifetime and should be enjoyed by anyone who stay at The Sun Monkey Villa.

The people are very nice and not resentful of foreigners. There is not the poverty nor crime of other countries. There is such an eclectic mix of people from all over the world who come here to vacation, snowbird, or full time living, it is very exciting!

I looked at 50 Villas and as soon as I walked into Sun Monkey, I knew it to be home. Unless you have spent some time in this area, it is difficult to to explain the differences between SM and other homes in this price range. Location, location, location. Very close to beach, but away from hubub. Very short and easy drive from main road. Large 1.75 acres of lush private gardens. Private enough to host a nudist group! The extra pavilion structure is very special. It provides another gathering place, enabling a large group or family to spread out and not feel on top of one another. It regularly hosts morning exercise sessions, afternoon naps, 15 people doing yoga, and twilight evenings rocking & watching magnificent Sunsets, with a cold one. We have had the pool redone and added sun shelves to linger on. A new hot tub spa is installed between pool and pavilion. Hidden Outdoor shower could have been built by Fred Flintstone and receives interesting reviews by guests!
And we have the best full time property management. Malinche Properties make your vacation effortless. Owning two restaurants and a brewery provide us the platform to offer numerous chef and meal options from "white tablecloth" to simple BBQ's.
