1 bedroom 1 bath located on the ground floor of the Penthouse building. King bed in the master and a queen sleeper sofa in the living room. Bathroom has a walk in shower. A short 75 yard walk to beach through a manicured courtyard and you will be playing in the emerald green waters of the Gulf of Mexico! Centrally located to the pool, game room, coin laundry, and BBQ grills.Unit has been remodeled and is exquisite!! Unit 12 also has a washer and dryer. Unit sleeps 4. Non-smoking

Beach Service – If you didn’t pre-reserve beach chairs, just stop by the beach hut or call the Excel team at In addition to chairs and umbrellas, Excel offers kayaks and paddle boards for rent, as well as an assortment of snacks and drinks.
Tennis, Basketball, Pickleball, and Shuffleboard – Forget your gear? No worries, you can check out rackets, balls, and more at the front desk at no charge!
Grilling Out – In the busy months of spring and summer, many families opt to grill out rather than go out. We have eight charcoal grills available. There are several seafood markets nearby, including Blalock’s which is just a block to the west (p.s., their tuna dip is a must try!).
Fitness Center – Did you know we have a fitness center in the Penthouse building? Just stop by the front desk to borrow the key.
Family Activities – There’s always something fun on the itinerary at Silver Dunes:
• Annual Easter Egg Hunt in the Courtyard – Easter Sunday, 9 am in the courtyard
• Scavenger Hunts – Throughout the Spring – for children of all ages! Just stop by the office to pick up your scavenger hunt necessities. Once you’ve collected everything, stop back by the office to pick a surprise from the Silver Dunes treasure chest!
• Movies in the Courtyard – Bring a picnic blanket, your beach chairs, and join us on Mondays at dusk throughout June and July. We show a different family-friendly movie each week.
• S’mores Nights with Live Music at the Pool –Wednesday nights are awesome at Silver Dunes! Throughout June and July, the firepits will be out, s’mores roasting, and tunes playing!

It is a tradition that we look forward to annually. The grounds and pool are well maintained. It is very family oriented and located close to shopping, attractions and restaurants. The beach is beautiful and George provides excellent beach rental service! We definitely recommend Silver Dunes.

Vacation in Destin at Silver Dunes

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Overall, the condo was nice. I didn't like the chairs at all on the patio area - very uncomfortable. The high top chairs in the dining area were also not comfortable and too high. Not a very good view - too many trees in the way. Didn't like that you had to walk through the bedroom to get to the main room. Did like being on the lower level due to walking difficulties. Otherwise ok. Very expensive for what you get.

Very disappointed

Reviewer Comments: Because we had a VRBO before and I always wanted to know if anything was wrong, or what we could do to make it better so we wouldn’t get any bad reviews. I wanted to make you aware of several things. Especially when you’re paying that much money, you expect things to be working. The second day we were there, we realized the sink was leaking under the cabinet, therefore we could not wash dishes in the kitchen sink, so we had to use the bathroom sink. The toilet ran the whole time we were there, the iron literally poured out water as soon as I put water in so it would have steam. It poured all over my clothes, the ironing board, and the floor. Also, there were two light bulbs out in the kitchen. The silverware and dishes in the cabinet were dirty and we realized after we loaded the dishwasher and had put the soap in, it would not turn on. None of the blinds work properly.....you can see straight in all of them from the patio, therefore you have to be dressed at all times.We did not contact anyone while we were there because we didn’t want people in and out the whole time we were there trying to fix things. We ended up leaving a day early. I’m not into usually one to complain, but there were so many things wrong in this unit that need to be addressed. I hope you understand.I wanted to give you time to respond before I left a review.

Our unit was on 1st floor, parking access and easy access to the pool, grills and a short walk to the beach. The one bedroom unit was decorated tastefully with beach decor, updated with modern finishes. The shower was great! The kitchen was well appointed. Having a stackable washer and dryer in the bedroom was a huge plus. The property grounds were well maintained. A few of our family members didn’t have the same experience with their unit. We were happy with both SD012 and SD044.

Gorgeous weather, perfect beach

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We love Silver Dunes and have spent many vacations staying in different units over the years. The weather was gorgeous for the majority of our visit. The water has never been more beautiful and the accommodations on the beach were perfect. We loved the washer/dryer in Unit 12 but had to adjust to the thermostat at 70 degrees while we slept, the uncomfortable king mattress, and the noises the ice maker and the central unit made while sleeping. The plantation blinds in the den would not remain shut. We will definitely come back to Silver Dunes but will choose a different unit.

A little disappointed

Reviewer Comments: After staying in Unit 12 in July the last 3 years, here it is: Pros - Has a washer/dryer in unit, good ez access to pool/courtyard area, available parking is close to unit. Cons: #1 - Code didn’t work the first time I tried it which was after 4pm. Went to office to get new code and desk clerk accused me of “trying the code before 4pm” which is BS. #2 Mattress is an absolute joke. #3 Thermostat is programmed to go no lower than 70. This should be known before booking. #4 I thought it was clean but my wife said it was cleaner the previous years we stayed.We have family in 7 other units and have stayed here for over 30 years and will keep coming back as long as the others continue to come. As for now trying to decide about next year.

Will not be back...

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Upon our arrival into Destin on Sunday our GPS was not taking us to the correct location. We drove up and down the street looking for it. Finally we decided to call but the number kept going to a funeral home. We looked it up and still the funeral home. Found out later it was forwarded to that number for the weekend??? Finally found Silver Dunes, only to discover they had not given us the gate number in advance--it was in the room. We had to wait until someone else opened the gate so we could follow them in. The cute little stool in the picture had a nail that snagged my brand new jean first night we were there. Had to call maintenance day 2 cause the light switch in the bathroom sparked every time we turned on the light. The flood light outside the room shines into the bedroom window at night. Tried to turn it away but immovable. My feet were black at end of the day from walking on the tile floor. No simple ammenities like salt and pepper-1 roll of toilet paper for the week and no dish soap. Area maintained. Pool area very nice. Beach was beautiful-weather too cool for me in February.
