One of the three upstairs bedrooms is configured as a full free-weight gym rather than sleeping quarters (the media room downstairs has a comfortable queen-size sofa sleeper if needed for a 3rd sleeping area). Master bath has a deep 6' long tub, double-headed shower and steam unit. Media room comes complete with a Premium 4K 65" OLED and surround sound system, with a PlayStation, games and Blu-Ray movies. Home is fully high-tech with ultra HiSpeed Wifi and music throughout. Even comes with two beach cruiser bikes, a large canoe and a private dock. The perfect turnkey setup!

Josh was an amazing host, he met us on arrival and explained all house related things. We absolutely loved the house, the photos don’t do it justice, the area is perfect, quiet and peaceful but close enough to the action to still feel connected to Venice.

Just an all around great place to stay in Venice! Beautiful home, well equipped for family gatherings. Loved the steam bath, a nice healthy touch. Excellent location, easy parking. Also, if you need to do a little work while vacationing in Venice, his office set up on the top floor is excellent and flexible…. Great terraces on every floor.

Everything was clean. The owner met us when we arrived and helped orient us to the property. He was very responsive to any requests/questions. The property is well-located on the canals, spatious, and very comfortable. Parking was very easy. I hope to be back in the near future and plan to stay in the house.

Beautiful house in prime Venice location on the canals and a few blocks from the beach. Host Josh is always available and a great host. The kitchen is very well equipped and the gym in one of the bedrooms is an excellent addition.

Great modern home in a perfect location to enjoy the beach (short walk) but far enough away when you want peace of the canals. Easy access to all that the beach has to offer.

Great Host and Home

This property has a wow factor to it. The location is great for families that are experiencing Los Angeles and/or staying local. It’s a short walk to Venice Beach and a short bike ride to Santa Monica pier. The house was clean and had everything a family or friends would need. I would stay here again without hesitation.

Canal Holidays

Our family of four had a great stay in this house right on the Venice canals. The house is beautiful and spacious, exactly as described, and convenient to LA attractions. The house is well-maintained and very clean, has great amenities, and is fully stocked with anything you might need. Many restaurants, etc... are walkable but also very easy to park and get around! Excellent and easy communication with the host who is very responsive. Would definitely stay here again.

Tranquility on the Canals

Josh's property is beautiful, with incredible views from every level of the home. It is in the best location, on the peaceful and quiet canals, just blocks from the beach, Abbott Kinney shopping, restaurants, etc., etc. It is well appointed, the kitchen has so much more than other VRBO homes, and Josh is incredibly responsive, kind, welcoming, and an all-around A+++ host! We can't wait to come back.

Great house in a perfect location

The house is open, light, airy and chic. The kitchen is the best equipped rental we have ever stayed in and is well-stocked with staples. Everything is tastefully and thoughtfully done. Josh is beyond responsive and made our stay easy and fun. We will come again and would recommend this beautiful home on the magical Venice Canals to anyone.

Another Delightful Visit to the Venice Canals

This was our second stay at this amazing property and we hope to return regularly. Josh is a fantastic host--easy to communicate with, hospitable and always ready to make sure guests have a great experience. The property itself is as lovely as the pictures indicate and it's a treat to be able to sit outside, walk around (or canoe!) the canals or take a short stroll to the beach. The house is a perfect place to be based on the Westside and we recommend it highly.

Favorite place to stay in L.A.

We come back annually to visit friends we made when we lived here for 23 years and have stayed in Josh's house several times. He's the consummate host, his house is fully equipped, well maintained, comfortable, light, well stocked with all sorts of cooking and domestic equipment, great appliances, kitchen items, fabulous showers, parking for 2 cars, and the canal is the most peaceful spot in L.A. 10 minute walk to Abbott Kinney, markets, healthy food, restaurants, and great ice cream. Venice Beach Canal house

This property was easily accessible by foot and car. The house was well stocked with everything you might need on vacation. The house was absolutely wonderful - uniquely laid out, well decorated, well furnished, master bath with dual shower heads and steam. The canals were a great safe location for our family within easy walking distance to the beach, Abbott Kinney Blvd, and Washington St. I have already recommended this house to friends. The owner, Josh, was extremely helpful and pleasant throughout our stay. If we ever return to the area, we will certainly consider staying here again.

We loved this place!

The house was exactly as described. It was immaculate and the owner was waiting for us on our arrival and provided us with a quick tour to ensure we could fully optimize all of the neat little extras the home offered. The home was fully stocked with any necessities we needed and we all enjoyed the gym, roof top hot tub, decks and canoeing on the canals. The home is a great location for walking to Venice Beach, Venice Boardwalk, and Abbot Kinney to take in all the wonderful shops, restaurants and California Sunsets. The owner was prompt with communications. We are all looking forward to staying here again.

Dream come true

I stayed at this stunning home on the canal for two weeks with my best friend and I can easily say it made the destination for our road-trip a dream come true. The neighborhood is safe, calm, and pretty quiet. The canal and nearby beach were so refreshing, the garage was perfect and we felt extremely safe and comfortable the entire time. The house itself was wonderful, my friend and I used the sound system throughout it everyday, the kitchen was perfect for when we wanted to cook anything, we had everything we could think of and more. I think the cherry on top of it all was just how kind, respectful and helpful Josh was, he responded extremely fast whenever we had a question and continued perfect communication Throughout our whole stay to make sure we were settling in good and he made it very easy to contact him if we needed help. Everything about our time here was too good to be true and we’ll remember it forever.

Would return again and again

Our stay in Josh's house was fantastic. He has truly thought of everything! The beds were super comfortable, the curtains/shades effectively blocked out the light in the bedrooms, there were ample sheets and towels (we used both beds, the pull-out sofa AND the two air mattresses for three adults and three kids). The pantry and kitchen were both well-stocked and it was so lovely to use the honor system to pay for whatever we needed to use. We didn't cook much other than breakfast (Whole Foods and other grocery stores are a short drive away), but if we had needed more equipment, spices, etc., it was all there. Josh was very welcoming and met us at the house to give us a tour and show us how everything worked (and had left the table set for two and put out some fresh flowers and a bottle of wine--such a warm welcome!). The location was phenomenal (we went for lots of walks and runs directly from the house), and we could not have had a better time in Venice.

The Perfect Home For Three Generations of Fun

The Canal House truly set the tone for our multi generational Milestone, Birthday Celebrations Vacation. From the beautiful architecture to the craftsmanship inside the home, it is clear that this home is well loved. No expense has been spared to make guest feel welcomed. The home has beautiful, yet very comfortable furnishings and every amenity one could imagine. I was thrilled to find a home with a media room that allowed for a dedicated teenager space. The master suite did not disappoint either. My 75 year old mother was most pleased. All of the beds, including the pull out sofa in the media room were extraordinarily comfortable. The biggest hit of the home, the multi deck platforms. The teenagers loved being on the upper most deck nightly. My mother enjoyed the other two decks/patios off of the master. Lastly, location, location, location… The proximity to the beach and accessibility around town by scooter rental was a favorite for my teen. My daughter and I walked to restaurants and the boardwalk. Marina Del Rey was a 5 minute walk. Santa Monica Pier, Beverly Hills a very short car ride away. I could not have asked for a more perfect place to bring 3 generations together to create such beautiful memories. This home truly exceeded all of my expectations. Picturesque Venice Canal Location

We took an 8 day family vacation to Los Angeles to see the city, mountains, and beach and used this house as our stay. Loved it, and it was a great base camp for us. The checkin process with the host was clear and unambiguous, exactly what you would want - lots of explanations, very reasonable asks, and overall a smooth process. 100% five star. The house itself is set on the canals in a quiet neighborhood, off the bustle of the city. Peaceful and tranquil is how I would describe it. Lots of natural light throughout the day, and close enough to the water to get cool breezes at night. We also utilized the garage for our rental car without hassle. Access to and from LAX was super easy, and to the rest of the area - the city, PCH, Malibu and the mountains - was also unexpectedly smooth. The location was perfect for us. We have a small market nearby, and a bigger market not much further away. Our morning routine included breakfast at home, walking to spend a couple of hours at the skatepark, and then some coffee at a local cafe on the way home. Super calm, very relaxing. Lots of food options in the neighborhood if you need them, we did ramen noodles one night, and another night hit a nearby grocery for some prepared foods. We also made use of the well appointed kitchen. Checkout was smooth as can be, again perfectly reasonable. Good communication, easy process, exactly what I would want for a vacation rental. Five star all the way. A vacation the family enjoyed!

Perfection. The property is all that you would hope it would be - and more. The location, the design, the office, the bedrooms - the well appointed kitchen - parking. It has all - even a canoe - just walk in and have a place with a vibe that feels like home. PS The sunset views at night are seriously some of the best I have experienced. You will not be disappointed.

Beautiful spacious house!

Our family of 5 stayed here for a week over Christmas and absolutely loved our stay! So much light and window views to the canal, many separate balconies and canoeing available, really just a lovely peaceful home. Josh was incredibly helpful and available for all of our questions/concerns.

A decade later, in 2005, I spent a year completing construction of this custom home where my family, relatives and friends partially use the space throughout the year, alongside VRBO guests.
