All the amenities of home on a quiet street just blocks from boating, beach, swimming, and Royal Gorge trails and two miles from Sugar Bowl. Updated kitchen and bathrooms give this home a warm, clean, and cozy feel with ample space for multiple families to spread out among bedrooms on all three floors, a rec room with ping pong table, and a bonus kitchen/dining room on the first floor. Linens, paper products, shampoo, ample cookware, and many other ammenities included.

Wonderful Weekend

This is an ideal property for a large family. There was plenty of room to cook, dine, play and sleep. The kitchen had quality utensils. While we brought our own sled and snowshoes, the hosts generously made their snowshoes available to guests. You can tell this house is well loved and cared for.

Fantastic stay in snow covered Soda Springs

We had a wonderful time skiing and playing in the snow with small children in tow on a 3-day trip. We so appreciated that the house was fully stocked with spices, sleds, snowshoes, and shovels, etc. Everything we needed! Easy drives to donner ski ranch and sugar bowl, and the neighborhood sledding hill was a hit. Josh and Julie were communicative and all was smooth. Thank you for a great stay!

Beautiful Home & Wonderful Stay

Thank you to Josh and Julie for sharing your home with us. It was absolutely beautiful and we had a fantastic stay. The house came fully equipped with beach toys, towels, toiletries and kitchen staples. It was a very comfortable and super clean. I'd love to come back and spend another weekend in this house. Awesome location and not too far from Lake Tahoe either. It is a gem and highly recommend to all. The photos do not fully show how wonderful the home really is! :)

Great stay

Nice house that met the needs of our party of six. Good communication with Josh and Julie. The only thing that needs attention is the kitchen range. The electronic ignition is very quirky. We needed to use a lighter because, at various times, either the wrong burner was sparking, the burner wouldn't stop sparking, or it wouldn't spark at all.

We really enjoyed our stay at this home! It was comfortable and very well stocked with everything we needed and more. Plenty of room for our two families, too. The location in the Serene Lakes community was great with an easy walk down to the lake. The owner, Josh, was quick to respond to any questions I had which was really a plus. Would definitely stay here again! Thanks, Josh & Julie for hosting!

Really enjoyed our stay

It’s a very cozy and well maintained cabin, with plenty of room for everybody. The kitchen is equipped with all the essentials and the owner is very generous to share the cooking supplies with guests. There happened to be heavy snow the week we stayed there and we loved to hike in the snow with the snowshoes that the owner kindly shared with guests.

Family Gathering for Wedding at Sugar Bowl

Enjoyed our 3 night stay. This vacation rental is very spacious with plenty of room and sleeping accommodations, and has all the comforts of home. Quiet area within a short walking distance to the lake. If up in this area again, we will definitely rent this home again!

The perfect home for a family gathering!

This property was warm and comfortable, clean and well appointed. The homeowners were responsive to my questions regarding details prior to arrival. Upon entering, we felt right at home. We would love to stay here again!

Serene Lakes Annual Family Gathering

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property, even with all the smoke! A huge thank you to the owners who offered to refund us a day of our trip if we wanted to leave early which I thought was very generous. We we're having such a great time we decided to stay. The house works perfectly for multiple families with lots of living space on each floor. We enjoyed using the kayack and paddle board and couldn't find a thing we needed missing. Thank you so much Josh & Julie for opening your home to our group. We hope to be back next year!

Mountain retreat

Lovely, very comfortable house. Very clean and spacious 4 bedroom home. Kitchen was well stocked. Great location, close to the lake. The owner was very responsive. Overall, great experience.

Wonderful ski weekend

Josh and Julie were very responsive to any questions that we had before the trip. The house was well stocked with all of the kitchen appliances and other items that we needed. Fun to have a game room downstairs. Hope to be back in the future!

Well appointed

We had a slight hiccup with getting the check in information about our trip, but the owner responded right away and made everything right. The house it self is great. Great appliances in the kitchen. The house has some fun games. The house is very inviting and well appointed. We would stay again.

We love this house!

I almost don’t want to send in a review to keep this house a secret but we love the house and communication with owners it’s more than deserved. This is our second stay with Josh and Julie and they’ve been nothing but amazing and gracious to rent out there house. It’s clean, beyond stocked with household supplies and furnishings and just overall a comfortable place. The neighborhood is quiet and easy access. We will definitely be back again!

Fantastic Serene Lakes House

This is an absolutely stunning house located in Serene Lakes - recently renovated with many updates. Fantastic kitchen - great for entertaining - with a gas range, large fridge, lots of useful and functional cooking utensils, and just in case you might need it, a second kitchen downstairs with a second fridge and oven! Lots of space, nicely appointed bedrooms, fantastic house! Thank you so much Bakers for letting us stay here!

Great House in a Great Location

We had a fantastic ski week. The house was very comfortable for our family and was well equipped with everything that we needed and didn't even know that we wanted. I was able to walk to Royal Gorge and the drive to Sugar Bowl was so short and easy. The house is much more spacious than the pictures would indicate. We'll definitely look to stay here again!

Amazing place!

The house was beautiful and much bigger than anticipated! The pictures don’t do justice! The owners were very accommodating and easy to communicate with. I highly recommend staying here!

Julie and Josh are originally from the Midwest (Minnesota and Michigan) and currently live and work in Reno, NV. We have five children between the ages of 17 and 24. We are both PhD biologists (evolutionary biologist and biophysical chemist).

We enjoy the outdoors, hiking, and skiing (both kinds) and stumbled upon the idyllic hamlet of Serene Lakes one summer looking for new hiking trails and fishing spots. We immediately fell in love with the serenity, the community, the lake and beach and are now thrilled to own a place in this quiet paradise away from the hectic and over-crowded Tahoe scene.

Qué distingue a esta propiedad

Our house is on one of the quietest streets in Serene Lakes. We are two blocks in one direction from the boat house from where we paddle our kayak, paddle board, or paddle boat across Ice Lakes to the beautiful, quiet beach on the other side, fishing along the way. Two blocks in the other direction is Royal Gorge trail access for hiking, mountain biking, and skiing. One of the most popular sledding hills in Serene Lakes is just two doors down. The house is sturdy and spacious with beautiful views from three different decks. The 2nd floor kitchen and living area are updated and cozy, and the 1st and 2nd floors provide ample space for our large family to spread out when needed. Our kids love playing ping pong in the first floor rec room. We love to cook in the well-appointed 2nd floor kitchen, and we like the bonus kitchen on the 1st floor for extra fridge space or when there are many cooks feeding a crew. The timed floor heating in the kitchen feels luxurious when making breakfast on a cold morning. We looked at cabins in Serene Lakes ranging from uncomfortably ostentatious to cold and rustic. When we first walked into this place we immediately felt the perfect blend of a comfortable, clean, and spacious cabin that still had a woodsy warmth.
