New, modern, light-filled home in the heart of charming Eastsound village.

Sol Mate is a new, modern cottage in the heart of the charming village of Eastsound. It's a hop, skip, and a jump from breakfast, ice cream, or wine (not necessarily in that order.)

With 3 bedrooms there's no need to couch surf. Everyone can have a little space. Curl up on the couch. Go antiquing. Head out for a hike or to other Islands for the day.

Come find your sunny place to recharge in the Islands. Come find your 'sol' mate.

The space

Sol Mate is a newly built home with a spacious and fully-appointed kitchen, including stainless steel appliances and dining area. The downstairs also includes a beautiful, bright, and contemporary living room with all the amenities.: Stylish, comfortable furniture, flat screen internet-connected tv and space to spread out. The Master bedroom features a very comfortable, new king-sized bed and luxury bedding. The master bath features a spa dual-showerhead shower and bath. The second bedroom features a very comfortable queen-sized bed, with a natural latex-pillow topper, for an amazing night's sleep. The third bedroom has a beautiful white, sturdy wooden bunk bed (Queen on the bottom, long Twin on top), with natural latex-pillow topper and a desk.

You're renting the whole house. Whole kit and kaboodle. The whole enchilada. (please note that kaboodles and enchiladas are metaphorical.)

Terrific vacation home

Sol Mate is incredibly conveniently located, well equipped, clean, comfortable, and a great setting for a relaxing/recharging trip. My family very much enjoyed our time on Orcas Island and Sol Mate was a big part of it.

Modern, bright and airy home conveniently located in Eastsound. A short walk to bakeries, coffee and restaurants! House is immaculately clean and owners are a delight to work with. Highly recommend!!

Great place for a family -- small-ish for 4 adults

This place felt super nice as it's a new/recent construction. Kitchen was loaded with everything you need. Outdoor seating adds nice touch for breakfasts/cocktail hour. Location is perfect. Owner/mgr communicates extremely well and prompt. The flaw for us was bedrooms are quite limited: master has no closet (to unpack anything) and 2nd bedroom is tiny.

Better than advertised

Our visit was cut-short due to illness. But I have no doubt we’ll be back as soon as possible. The description in the listing is spot-on. Truly one of the nicest homes we’ve rented. The location was perfect. Quiet and private, yet just a short walk to everything in town. Laura was great host and incredibly understanding when our plans suddenly changed.

You really can have it all

We had a really wonderful time at Sol Mate. It’s clean, bright, nicely-furnished, and extremely well-stocked with everything you could possibly need. It’s right in the heart of Eastsound, yet surprisingly VERY quiet. It’s the best of both worlds: walking distance to everything, yet a calm refuge to return to at the end of a day exploring the island. The owners are a joy to communicate with. Quite a find!

Relaxing/fun getaway

We very much enjoyed our stay in Eastsound. The house had everything we needed, the kitchen was well stocked with nice dishes and pots and pans. We split our time between eating out and cooking. There are wonderful places to eat within steps of the house. Fun shops to explore close by. We had our car so we explored the whole island. I would definitely recommend this place. We had 5 adults and a infant. Plenty of seating. The owners were very helpful too with tips for the ferry and things to do.

Amazing location!

This was hands down one of the best VRBO’s we’ve ever stayed in. It was beyond well appointed with everything you could need and then some. The house, while fairly compact, was set up in a way that maximized space and made it very comfortable for 4 adults and 2 kids. My kids loved all the toys in the cabinets, too! The owners were super helpful and quick to reply, and sent a lot of communication ahead of time which was much appreciated. The location was also amazing and everything was walkable within a few minutes. The grocery store was only 2 blocks away and the house had plenty of totes to make it easy! If we make it make to Orcas again, this will for sure be the top of the list for places to stay!

Modern, light, well located and well equipped

Laura and Jamey are attentive and thoughtful hosts. There were so many extras that they provided that I’ve never been offered at any other vacation rental. The property is fairly new, very nicely equipped with everything you can think of to cook and prep with as well as a pantry with lots of staples, so we didn’t have to buy every little thing. Also, great beds, bedding, and nice thick towels. The location right in Eastsound is very convenient for cafés, shopping, community activities and more but not in the airport flight path so fairly quiet for town. We will definitely be back!

Clean bright well appointed condo in town

Laura and Jamey are very thoughtful hosts. The condo is well maintained and well stocked with basics (spices, pantry staples for basic cooking), pots and pans, dishware, appliances, games, plenty of extra towels, sheets, and pillows for a very comfortable stay. They think of everything and are very welcoming and very responsive.

Best VRBO stay yet!

This home was probably the best VRBO that we have ever stay in. Clean, comfortable, so well appointed and yet uncluttered. Laura and Jamey have clearly thought out every detail. The location was perfect, we were able to walk to everything in Eastsound. We will definitely return!

Absolutely terrific place!

The home was just as pictured - beautifully appointed, spotless and comfortable. The linens were terrific, the kitchen had everything we could ask for, and the location was perfect - just a couple of short blocks to shops, restaurants, etc. Really a nice place!

Perfect spot!

The perfect place to stay when visiting Eastsound as you can walk from your front door to all the cute shops and restaurants. The house itself was spotlessly clean and was well stocked with anything you might need. All of the beds and linens were very comfortable. Just a really great vacation rental. Laura was extremely easy to communicate with and you can tell she cares about her guests. The smallest of details are already thought about. We will be back for sure. Excited to come back and stay and walk to the super cute Italian restaurant that is opening down the street when it is fully opened.

Winter in Orcas

The property was lovely and a very easy walk to the grocery, and wonderful bakery. The home was outfitted perfectly. If you have young kids, there are bath toys and plastic dishes. Even though we were there during the coldest time, the home was warm and cozy. The owners were the best! Super communicative and doing everything possible to ensure we had a wonderful stay. Highly recommend.

Best place to stay on Orcas!

This was our second time staying at Solmate, and we can say with certainty that we'll never stay anywhere else when we're on Orcas. Laura and Jamey think of every detail and make sure guests are extremely well taken care of. The home is so perfect, my family prefers it to our own house! If you're looking for ultra-clean, modern, spacious, well-appointed lodging that's walking distance to town and the water, this is it!

5 star stay right in Eastsound!

Our stay at Laura and Jamey’s place was spectacular! Solmate had everything we needed (and more) to feel comfortable and taken care of. It is spotless and very well maintained. The beds and sheets are the most luxurious we have ever slept on. Seriously - we had to ask Laura and Jamey where they bought them so we can try to replicate the supreme comfort at home. The patio was a great place to spend lazy afternoons, and the AC came in handy when the heat made a surprise April visit. The location is perfect. The house is on the north end of town, so we could walk to all the shops and restaurants, but it’s out of the action just enough to keep it very quiet. Laura and Jamey were excellent communicators and went above and beyond to make sure our stay was memorable. We will definitely be back and will tell all of our friends about this special place!

A delight

A superb experience throughout. Hosts are amazing, responsive, and beyond accommodating. Being welcomed with wine, chocolate, and coffee might not be for the faintest of hearts or those who suffer from migraines, but we do not count ourselves in either category. Property is modern and spacious,. with all the amenities one could want, including access to alfresco dining on the patio. We were familiar with the property location before booking, and this worked great for us. Morning baking smells from Rose's, short walks to all the restaurants, shops, and most importantly beaches for an endless excavating fun for our 4 year old were amazing. And then there is the island living...hard to beat it! Will be back!

Perfect location in Eastsound

This home in Eastsound is in the perfect location. It was in walking distance from the farmer's market, wineries, pubs, a grocery store, restaurants, and coffee shops. The home was clean, had all the amenities of home, and loved that each bed had its own bedroom - no sleeping on a pull out couch. We were also greeted with a bottle of champagne which was not expected but so great to start our vacation. Thank you for such a relaxing stay on Orcas.

We fell in love with Orcas about 20 years after we fell in love with each other. Laura is from the PNW, Jamey is from North Carolina (but moved here in the early 1990's). After years of coming to Orcas, we decided to stay a little longer.

Sleek. Modern. Uncluttered. Light. So much light. After years of kayaking around Orcas, Sucia, and the rest of the San Juans, we wanted to live here (if for only a few weeks at a time). Located in the heart of Eastsound, you can walk to pretty much everything from here. Every wall has windows, letting in light. So when it does eventually rain (it rains less in the Islands than in Seattle), you can still rock the couch, read a book, and enjoy sun surrounding you.

It's new. The furnishings are new. More like a modern European hotel, it's clean, simple and uncluttered design tends to elicit sighs. Maybe snoring. Definitely relaxation. You're 211 paces from the grocery story. A few less to the Coop. Two great options for Ice Cream within a simple stroll. Within a block is a wine store, a bakery, and the best Mexican food on the Island. Plan accordingly.
