Historic Bonny Cottage in downtown Beaufort SC

Bonny Cottage is located on the property of Ellen and Mike Tomy, one block from the Beaufort River, in the beautiful historic district of Beaufort, South Carolina. It was built in the late 1800s after the recent "unpleasantness". This cottage is so cheerful and has such a sweet spirit, a bad mood will disappear very quickly. Lovely views are all around.
Bonny Cottage has one bedroom with a comfy queen bed and a large bathroom with a shower, a full kitchen and laundry room. It stands alone and has a pleasant patio outside for early morning coffee and late afternoon wine and cheese. Children under 12 are not allowed. Check-in is at 4:00 pm, Check-out is at 10:00 am.

Absolutely perfect place!

The cottage is stunning with paintings by the owner herself. It was like staying in a gallery. Every detail was accounted for and we have absolutely nothing to suggest for improvement. The location was fabulous, we walked everywhere. One of the highlights of our stay was just sitting down with Ellen and Mike and hearing their story. Thank you for such a perfect weekend. We will definitely be back.

Amazing Memorial Day Weekend!

Property was impeccable all around. Attractive, period decor, super clean. Every aspect thoughtfully appointed, down to shower head and toiletries. Loved the quaintness of neighborhood and deep historic character of area. Very pleasurable and memorable. We will absolutely return within the year. Looking forward to becoming further acquainted with hosts, who were kind, gracious, and flexible. Property should retain it's well deserved "10".

Anniversary celebration

Ellen and Mike are so lovely and wonderful hosts, true southern hospitality. The cottage was adorable and in the historic district and close to restaurants and harbor. Ellen took care of every little detail in the cottage, it was perfect. Thank you Ellen and Mike for making us feel at home and we hope to make this maybe a yearly visit. Perfect Location

We stayed five nights at this lovely place. It is cozy and perfectly located to downtown. Super clean and we had everything we needed provided for us. Plenty of space for me and my wife. Downtown is really at most a five minute walk and the walk is rather nice. Definitely would stay here again. Oh. And just saying the people of this city are the nicest people on the planet ! Seriously!

Bonny Cottage

This was a wonderful place to stay while in Beaufort. You can easily walk to downtown and all of the restaurants. The cottage was immaculate and very well equipped. Definitely consider Bonny Cottage for your next trip to Beaufort.

Beaufort Vacation

Our stay at Bonny cottage was very enjoyable. Easy walking distance to restaurants and the downtown. The cottage is very clean and the furnishings are quite nice.The furniture for sitting is doable. Television and streaming services great. We have discovered another fine place in the VRBO system.

Quaint Cottage

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Bonny Cottage! The hosts, Mike and Ellen, were gracious and welcoming. The cottage was well stocked with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We enjoyed walking to the waterfront and nearby restaurants. We’re looking forward to a return visit!

The main house, where Ellen and Mike live, was renovated in 2015 and the cottage was recently renovated in 2019. Mike is a retired architect and a decorated Viet-nam veteran. Ellen is a retired portrait painter.

Vacations from Atlanta down to Beaufort every summer to visit family, we bought this property because of our love for architecture, history and Beaufort itself. Ellen's family roots are in South Carolina so it is like coming home to stay.

One cannot but feel the presence of happiness and contentment when entering Bonny Cottage. Even before it was renovated, with holes in its floors and dilapidated nature, it was cheerful.
