Great Holiday Stay at the Bear Den

This was our 2nd stay at the Bear Den. The house is cozy and very well appointed. The beds are the most comfortable we have ever slept on. The stay was a little to cool for much time on the porch, but we certainly enjoyed the fireplace! Convenient for Polar Express Train, Franklin and Dillaboro.

Beautiful

The property is well maintained and exceeds description! The master bed is amazing! Nothing negative to say. We had a great time, location was perfect.

Anniversary 41 years

Awesome! Perfect location several towns within driving distance. We went to the pumpkin roll festival in Franklin and the next day we went to a festival in Maggie valley. We visited Highlands, cashiers, Sylva, Waynesville and Maggie valley. The Bear den has the perfect view. So relaxing to sit on the porch in a rocking chair and enjoy the view. It never gets old. We would definitely go back and we highly recommend this place.

Fantastic Home

We loved the location close to everything yet very private with the most beautiful view of the mountains. We were there during the storms in western NC. We never lost power or the internet. Watching the TV of all the destruction news man said if you can see this you are among the few. It's our new favorite place to stay.

This is a great place to charge your batteries. The bird feeder brings in Squirrels, and a huge variety of birds. We never turned on the TV. For 5 days and it was bliss.

A comfortable place in a great location

This is the 3rd time staying here, and we enjoyed it like we have before. Very comfortable to stay here, with two nice recliners, so no arguments on who gets the "good one." :) Love the location that is close to town but off in a secluded woodsy area. Will try to come again next year, I'm sure.

Great weekend getaway

The cabin is just as listed, perfectly close to town yet secluded! We enjoyed everything about the cabin and would definitely book again.

Beautiful view!

Very clean and furnished with EVERYTHING you might need. Single lane road proved challenging on one occasion when we came head to head with 2 other vehicles and a ditch on each side. Driveway near by enabled us to pull over a little…but not too far as backing down the driveway would be difficult. Driveway to our house was steep but much better. Good shopping and eating in town plus easy drive to Waynesville and Cherokee.

Perfect mountain vacation.

The property is even better than the pictures. Perfect for families. Close to town, but still so peaceful. The home had everything you need, and then some. They provide more than most of the cabins I stayed in. It’s very clean. The view is beautiful. I tried to book for Thanksgiving and the same week after Christmas, but it’s already booked. As far as the other comments, the garbage is very easy to dispose of - drive through j&b, a few minutes from the house, and throw everything in the dumpster. The little potato bugs are harmless and part of being in the mountains. The master beds mattress is very soft. My husband prefers a more firm mattress, but everyone has their preference. I would definitely return.

Relaxing getaway

We had an amazing time during our stay. We came from Florida and were excited about the weather change. The house was perfect and had everything we needed. Franklin has a few good restaurants, we really liked Bent Willow Bakery and caffe Rel. Went to the Highlands for the waterfalls (beautiful!), but the road is no joke! Loved sitting on the porch watching the birds. Can't wait to visit again!

Love this house.

This is the 2nd time we've stayed here. We came back because the location is close to town while still being in a woody private area. A nice mountain view off the porch. Having two recliners means nobody stuck on the sofa.

Beautiful Mountain View

We had a great stay at The Bear Den. The view was amazing and the home was cozy. Location was perfect to see Highlands and Franklin with food options close by. It has everything needed to cook meals if you prefer cooking rather than eating out with updated appliances, pots and pans, and an abundance of silverware. It was a wonderful weekend get away from the torrid Florida heat and will stay here again if we are in the area again.

Refreshing in many ways

Thank you for letting us stay in your home in the mountains. Our stay gave us a great respite from our home in Jacksonville. The setting was perfect with the trees, mountains and wildlife. The many upgrades done since last year are greatly appreciated. My wife and I look forward to returning next year.

Comfortable cabin

Nice place with a great view. Quiet neighborhood, convenient location. Well appointed especially in the kitchen. Minor complaint is shortage of working lamps. A few new light bulbs will fix that.

Great property and location

Overall, we were extremely happy with this home. The location is great! Easy to get to, peaceful and quiet, but close to town. 5 minutes to Food Lion and about 7 to Walmart and Ingles. The kitchen is well stocked with pots and pans, dishes, silverware, etc. the appliances are kind of dated, but worked perfectly! The deck is great and the view amazing! Loved the bird feeder and spent every morning out there with my coffee enjoying the view. The wood burning fireplace was great, we enjoyed it every morning and evening. There were only a few small things we noticed, not complaints, but could be easily fixed, only one of the three lamps in the master bedroom worked, and some of the dresser drawers in both rooms need to be fixed. I cut my finger catching a falling top drawer. There is a washer and dryer, but make sure you bring detergent. There was an empty bottle there. Also, plan to bring your own firewood, which is fine, just know you will need it. The satellite TV in the master only worked 3 of the 5 nights. Not sure what that was about, but not a huge deal. The welcome letter in the kitchen should be updated as a lot of the info was pretty old. The home was very clean and we did notice a few stink bugs, but not a big deal, very common and they are completely harmless. We would definitely stay again if we are in that area! Communication with the owner was great, helpful and very quick response. Thanks for a great vacation!
