On the Mountain - 200 Acres of Privacy!

A Smokey Mountain Chalet on two hundred acres of private property with a million dollar view from 3,500 feet above sea level. Overlooking clouds, pastures, streams, waterfalls, ponds and forest; wake up to crisp clean mountain air filled with the sounds of nature. At night, gaze at a sky full of stars that city dwellers never see. Mother Nature at her finest awaits you here. Adjacent to Nantahala National Forest the property has over 4 miles of it's own trails for hikes, mountain bikes, horses or ATVs. Also, we have 4 spring fed streams originating on our mountain where many guests have found rubies, garnets and other gems.

The Chalet includes: a loft with a king size bed and private 1/2 bathroom upstairs; one bedroom with two twin beds downstairs next to a full bathroom; a fully equipped kitchen; a great front deck/porch; a picnic area next to a beautiful stream; outdoor fire pit; a big screen television with DVD player (bring your own movies or choose from our collection.)

Our Chalet is an excellent place to disconnect from hectic pace of our digital world and enjoy the peace and quiet of nature. Please note there is no cell phone service, cable TV or internet/WIFI due to our location in the Smokey Mountains.

Franklin, NC is in the heart of the Smoky Mountains. 25 minutes to excellent restaurants in Franklin, Highlands or Sylva, NC; Just 75 minutes from Asheville and 2.5 hours from Atlanta, GA; 25 minutes to Western Carolina University; 45 minutes to the Cherokee Reservation/Casino or whitewater rafting & tubing on the Nantahala River; 66 miles to Gatlinburg, TN; and within an hour of seven of the "Top Fifty Hiking Trails in the USA". Great golf courses, trout fishing, gem mines or searching for antiques are all available, nearby.

Great host and great property! We loved giving corn dog belly rubs. He was also a great running buddy on the trails on the property. Watching the cows, donkeys and horses from porch was so relaxing. The hosts were great and easy to communicate with. Thanks again for an awesome stay. We can’t wait to be back to the mountains again soon

From the beginning, the host made the check in and whole entire stay very easy!! Great communication and incredible hospitality! We've stayed in a lot of places over the years but this place was by far our favorite!! Everything from the home to the land and animals was absolutely beautiful and perfect! The minute we left, we were already thinking/planning on when we will back to stay again in the future!! If you are looking for the perfect little getaway, we 10/10 recommend!!

June 17 - 20th, 2025What a wonderful visit!Peace and quiet, beautiful mountain views and many trails for hiking. Clean, comfortable and welcoming cabin. The hosts/owners were friendly and helpful.We will definitely be back for another stay.

Everything was absolutely perfect. The house was beautiful with an absolutely gorgeous view every morning and evenings with the sunsets. Could also not have asked for a better host! So friendly and helpful. We had the best time even my 16yr & 10yr old loved it, and that was without WiFi!! It was vice nice to be able to just relax and have family time with no way to have any interruptions. Highly highly recommend!!

Amazing time in the mountains

It was amazing, the beautiful scenery and the amazing views waking up every morning, breath taking! The drive up to the chalet was steep but no need for any 4wd vehicle. The hosts were amazing very friendly! 10/10 would stay again!

Amazing mountain getaway

This was such a peaceful and beautiful place to unplug and unwind. The property was extensive and the hosts were very welcoming. The cows, donkeys, and horses were so fun to watch off the beautiful deck beneath the scenic mountain view. Highly recommend!

Lovely place

My wife and I had a great time in the mountains. The home was warm and hosts were very accommodation. Only issue to me was that there is no cell connections or wifi. Not a deal breaker for sure. I highly recommend this lovely home for your next get away!

Always a good time

My mom and I have stayed here numerous times. Melody and Martin are always friendly and willing to go out of their way. The dogs are friendly too! Love getting to spend time with the fresh air, the moutains and all of the pasture animals.

Great stay with beautiful views!

Great stay with family! Property is one of a kind, one of the most unique stays we've ever stayed at! Chalet is back to the basics with no internet and phone service at the location, really didn't miss it. It was a great stay and the host's Martin & Melody were wonderful! Peace and Quiet

This chalet is everything it says….secluded, serene! Martin and Melody are warm and friendly, the perfect hosts. Watching the critters was amusing especially the calves playing. Then nights watching the fireflies!! Loved it. The view in summer was beautiful I can but imagine it in the fall. I hope to be back maybe doing a mom/ daughter stay with my 2 daughters. Thank you so much Martin and Melody for sharing your piece of paradise! This is truly Gods Country!!

Our perfect Christmas/ New Year gateway!!!

Martin and Melody, What a amazing time we had at your chalet. This is a third time coming and each time we just are so amazed. We enjoy the christmas decorations, we felt right at home. My boys enjoy riding the atv and morning walks through the trails. The weather was just perfect for our family. Thank you once again for hosting us at your charlet. A real gem in the mountain! Get away

The pictures do not do it justice. This is a beautiful home with a million-dollar view. The home has everything you need. The host was welcoming and friendly. And so was his Great Pyrenees Honey Bear she loves belly rubs. There is NO internet, NO TV and NO cell service and it is a challenge to get there. But it is definitely worth it. Bring a book or some games and enjoy the peace and quiet. We will definitely go back.

The Chalet and property are a great place to unplug, enjoy the scenery, explore nature, and relax.

We stayed in the Chalet a few years ago and loved it. This year's stay was equally enjoyable. Melody and Martin have a piece of heaven there and enjoy sharing with others. My wife and I are very much into nature and the trails on the property provide visitors access to the forest with a variety of birds, trees, and wildflowers. For those that like to site see, it's a short drive into Franklin for shopping, eating, and wifi access for those that just can't spend a relaxing vacation unplugged from social media. Other towns, waterfalls, and hiking trails are easily accessed from the Chalet. We will definitely be returning next summer for another excellent vacation!

A perfect escape!

I enjoyed this stay with my husband, 4-yr-old, and 9-mo-old. My 4-yr-old made best friends with the dogs, loved splashing in the creek, and exploring the property in general. The view is unbeatable, and such a gorgeous way to wake up each morning. Our first night, clear skies showed off buckets of stars. In addition to enjoying the property itself, we had a good time on short day trips to hunt waterfalls and go tubing. The chalet was clean and comfortable. We picked up groceries on our way in and cooked all our meals on site, and the kitchen had everything we needed. A great spot to truly unplug and enjoy a peaceful retreat.

Paradise in the Middle of Mountains

Melody and Martin, staying at your your Chalet has been an amazing experience. We are beyond excited to come back and experience our morning walks through the trails. Refreshing ourself in the waterfalls next to dynamite road. Boys enjoy playing with HoneyBear, Corndog, Bentley and Bailey. Feeding the horses and petting them was amazing. All together we are beyond thankful for this summer vacation. Thank you for you hospitality and kindness you guys are amazing. Our daily morning coffee setting on the porch was incredible with the mountain views with cows, horses and donkey around. There's was much to do at the farm we never left the Chalet unless we were going to town to get groceries. Our family can't wait to come back in the winter time. Thank you so much once again Melody and Martin.

Peace and quiet at last!

This property is so good I want to keep it a secret, but the owners are such good hosts that I just have to do them the favor of reviewing it for them. We were looking for a way to get away from the city and have some peace and quiet for a change, and that's what we got. We also got beautiful views and help when we needed it. The chalet is beautiful, and waking up to those views was amazing. It was very peaceful and restful. We will be going back. Didn't get to spend much time on the property during the day because we were out and about so much, but I took a short walk on the logging roads and found some really interesting plants and mushrooms to photograph. We have a Tesla Model Y LR and I was able to plug in to the 120v outlet on the porch and get a day's worth of charge overnight each night, even though it's only L1. Martin tells me they're considering putting in a L2 charger, but I am not sure that's necessary. Martin, if you do, make sure it uses a NACS (North American Charging Standard) plug, please. It's a wonderful property, but it may not be for everyone. There was no Internet access and no phone service for us, but then, that's part of why we chose it. It forced me to stop working (business owner/workaholic here) and rest for a change. That may also change in the future, I don't know, but it was definitely a feature for us and not an issue. We had a wonderful time. I give this VRBO and the hosts 5 stars. Thank you again!
