The Park Avenue community, or Uptown as it is known to locals, is a hip and historic, friendly, diverse, revitalizing, medium-density, residential neighborhood adjacent to downtown/bathhouse row with a mixed-use central corridor of locally owned and operated small businesses, mid-century motor courts and a couple of late 19th century mansions. Densely canopied side streets with more modest craftsman, cottage and bungalow homes lead up to the national park lands at the edge of the Ouachita mountains that surround the area.

You are likely to see deer, raccoons, squirrels, wild birds and a well-fed groundhog or two.

HIKING/BIKING: 1 block from the house the moderate .65 mile Pullman Trail for hiking and biking leads through the National Park crossing over Sunset Trail (10 miles hiking only) and ends at the Northwoods Trails (30 miles of hiking and biking).

Grab a cup of coffee or tea and a light bite to eat at Red Light Roastery 3 blocks from the house; or last minute items at a variety store down the street. Visit David F. Watkins Memorial Park 5 blocks from the house to see a day-lighted portion of the 1890's Hot Springs Creek Tunnel that runs for 3 miles under the city - very cool. Or, follow the architectural tour included in the house welcome book to see great examples of Art Moderne, Victorian, mid-century and other National Register worthy styles throughout the neighborhood.

The home is 1 mile (3 minute drive or 20 minute walk) to downtown and the Hot Springs National Park Visitor's Center. The neighborhood is walkable and bike friendly. The National Park Pullman Trailhead, a .65 mile hiking and mountain biking trail, is a short walk/ride from the Harrell House, and connects to the Sunset Trail (11 miles hiking only) and the Northwoods Trails (30 miles hiking and biking).

Uber and taxi services are available to/from the house.

Hot Springs' Intra-City Transit system has a sheltered ADA-accessible bus stop 2 blocks from the home. Public transit can be used Monday through Saturday to access downtown, bathhouse row, many area attractions, shopping, the Farmers' Market, the Greenway Trail (multi-purpose), and the National Park.

High speed EV charging station located 10 blocks from The Harrell House. 2 free charging stations (limited plugs and availability) are located within 1.5 miles.

Hot Springs Memorial Field Airport (HOT) is 20 minutes from the house with Southern Airlines daily direct flights to/from Dallas (DFW) and Memphis (MEM) with Enterprise rental car onsite. Little Rock (LIT) airport is a 1 hour drive with all major rental car companies and airlines.

A Live Like a Local guidebook of our favorite restaurants, trails, theaters, events, daily activities, lakes, spas, theaters, live music venues, sightseeing spots, gift shopping, and plenty of area brochures and maps are provided. We want you to fall in love with Hot Springs as much as we have. Let us know how we can help you plan your perfect getaway to our beautiful town!

Family friendly close to downtown

Great experience! Easy check-in. If you forgot it, they probably have it. We appreciated the signs around the house giving instructions on how to use stuff. Definitely needed it with the stove! Dog friendly is an understatement. They had dog bowls, leashes, toys, dog towels biscuits, even a pooper scooper! But the pièce de résistance was the Happy Birthday message and treats they left my daughter!!! So kind! So thoughtful! We were all so tickled by that gesture! Thank you so much for such a memorable stay!

Great Spot! Close to Town *and* Dog-Friendly!

Cute little spot close and convenient to town and food spots. The house is dog-friendly as well, with the owners providing cleaning towels, and things to keep them comfortable and taken care of. The house itself is super cute, the rear private driveway and gate entrance are nice for late night returns to the unit. Entering, there were fresh cookies and a big jug of the local spring water, and a welcome guide that helped acclimate us to the town and what awesome spots awaited us. The beds were comfy and the bathrooms clean and functional. A nice shower in one, with a great soaking tub in another. The kitchen was great for my cooking of meals. I even went to the local butcher to buy some cuts of meat for the grill outside. Utensils and detailed instructions on using the grill lead to a successful cook. Dishwasher was easy to use as well. The town around the unit is welcoming and had good food options along with grocery stores and other things for the kiddos to do in the event it rains for the majority of your stay like for us (ha ha). The neighborhood around the unit too, was good for dog walking and short adventures. 10/10, would stay here again. Thank you for having us!

short stay for family vacation

We stayed there for two nights with 4 adults and 2 dogs. House was prepared and set up nicely for us and very welcoming to our 2 dogs (dog dishes, towels, treats, and couch covers). Whole house was very clean, kitchen was well stocked - even had welcome cookie box and hot spring water! Location was nice, very quiet neighborhood away from the noise of downtown but close enough that we could just drive back to rest in afternoon if we wanted. Communication from the owner was very prompt and helpful. Definitely will stay here again if we are in the area.

The BEST!!

In all of my experiences with booking through VRBO, this was simply THE BEST!!! Such a wonderful house, just a PERFECT bungalow with every amenity you need. Our dogs had an absolute blast hiking on the trails and exploring the town. My partner had never been to Hot Springs before, and the attention the detail at The Harrell House is second to none!!theres an entire bible of attractions and places to go, as well as ANOTHER bible of events broken down BY THE DAY!!! We are already planning our next trip with some friends, and I will NEVER stay anywhere else in Hot Springs!! The pictures don’t do this wonderful house justice. Book it yesterday!!!

Great stay in Hot Springs

Wife and I really liked the place. It's nice and quiet and the private drive is really nice. The place was clean and accepted dogs. I had some communication with the owner and everything was pleasant and perfect. We would definitely look at staying here again when we come to hot springs. The kids liked the middle bed and the way the house was laid out as well. Dogs liked the fenced in back-yard and the laundry / mud room was really convenient. Really, we enjoyed the place and don't have any complaints.

Amazing

We loved staying here! They thought of anything and everything you might need incase you forgot something. I mean EVERYTHING! The harrell home is the home away from home. I make a lot of trips to hot springs and this is by far the best home to stay at. Your are close to everything but yet far away at the same time. They have such a open floor plan which is great for someone with little ones. Your kept updated on the latest activities going on. If you have questions about anything they will respond quick. Such wonderful people! Already planning my mext visit.

Por qué eligió esta propiedad

The Park Avenue or Uptown neighborhood as its known to locals, is hip, historic and revitalizing. You'll find people of all backgrounds, ages and abilities working to build this community, and we love that. We like our neighbors. They know our names at the businesses nearby. It's walkable and bikeable with a National Park trailhead to the Northwoods just a block away, and dedicated bike lanes and accessible sidewalks into downtown, which is only 1 mile / 12 blocks away.

We like the landscape. The neighborhood sits in a Ouachita Mountain valley surrounded by National Park forest. Deer, ground hogs, squirrels and wild birds are common. We love the heavy canopy of mature trees over the side streets, and the potted flowers the neighborhood association maintains at the bus stops. We like the mixed us of a central corridor with local businesses and quiet side streets of modest homes of various architectural styles.
