This is a three bedroom (2 queens and one 2 twin trundle bed) 1.5 bath house with one of the best views of the Columbia River and Mt. Adams anywhere from every room. Within walking distance to downtown Hood River this is a great rental any time of year.

It’s a mid-century modern design with full glass windows/ walls to the north and north, east and south facing wrap around deck plumbed with a natural gas Weber grill, large yard, drive way, hammock and mature landscaping. Fully restored the upstairs has slate and oak floors throughout, modern kitchen with stainless counters, w/d, dw, gas double stove and range, mahogany paneling throughout, and a 43” television with AppleTV. Complete with wireless internet, TV/DVD, surround-sound stereo throughout the main floor and deck it doesn't get much better than this.

The sleeping rooms and full bathroom are downstairs in the day-light basement complete with cork floors, floor to ceiling windows.

We’ve been fortunate to stay in many amazing VRBOs, but this place is truly spectacular! Outstanding views throughout the home. Very well-appointed, with a high level of craftsmanship and detail. The hosts were incredibly welcoming and responsive. We were there during a high 90s heatwave, but the indoor temps were never uncomfortable (we closed southern shades during the day and opened downstairs windows at night). Would go back in a heartbeat!

Easy and clean

Time with Family

We visit our adult children in Hood River several times a year. We look for a special home with great outdoor space and this home was perfect. It was very nice working with the owners and we hope to book this home again in the future. The views are amazing and the home is simply lovely. Thank you.

Good location, nice views off the deck.

Overall stay was good and pleasant. No real complaints. I do just want to make note for others considering the space that we did find mice droppings in the cabinets and some of the furniture is dated and you can feel the springs. So not crazy comfortable if you plan to sit inside. But the outside furniture was comfortable and that's where we spent most of our time in the evenings enjoying the views and nice weather. Overall we were still happy with the space and would book again.

Nice place great view with a few down sides

Property was clean and had basics. Spectacular view and excellent location. Few downsides. It got up to 100 degrees with no air conditioning. The interior of the house was 83 degrees at 9 pm! This made it very uncomfortable. The owner wanted us to open all windows at night to cool off the place. The wind did blow through the house, but doors were very loose and kept us up at night. They would clatter all night. Also no microwave and toaster was old and toast would burn. Also the owner expected us to make a cozy spot in the garage for our dog if we needed to leave him for a few hours. There was no possible way I would have left my dog in that garage. Luckily we had a friend nearby who helped us out with our dog.

Gina thanks so much for your feedback. As noted on our listing and response to your email before renting, there is no Air conditioning at this property. Climate change is real so perhaps we will look into it in the future. In regards to pets, unfortunately we’ve had pets do damage when left unattended indoors. We’ll take our pet policy into consideration going forward.

Gorgeous home, but no AC. sweltering indoors in warm weather. Spacious, clean, in a beautiful, quiet neighborhood with great parking, amazing views, fruit trees, and blackberry bushes. Location was perfect.Future guests should know: there’s no air conditioning or microwave. AC isn’t listed in amenities, but it also wasn’t mentioned until checkin info arrived! too late for a refund! In cooler weather this might not matter, but during our stay temps hit 100, and it was unbearable inside, especially upstairs. We almost left! On our last night it was 85 degrees outside but still 88 degrees inside well past 9:30 pm. we used cold, wet towels to cope.no paper towels despite being listed, some outlets not working (likely affecting the TV, which never worked), strong odor in kids’ room closet, bathtub drain plug broken (we bought a stopper), extra-firm beds, noisy nights with open windows, and creaky doors.Most uncomfortable was an unannounced yard maintenance visit, which we later learned the host felt we should have interrupted and asked to him to leave while it was already happening. Privacy was something we assumed was included, and navigating that situation was awkward. Overall, the house has wonderful qualities, but our stay was impacted by heat, maintenance disruptions, and missing or non-working amenities. It would help if the lack of AC was made more obvious before booking and there was clear communication if host drop-ins are going to take place.

View was INCREDIBLE!

A few points about our 4 night stay in July. The Good: -The views were perfect and stunning. -Location relative to town lends itself to walking. -Nice outdoor spaces including deck (enjoyed my morning coffee here) and backyard. -The home has been partially renovated so upstairs kitchen and bathrooms are mostly current and comfortable. -Stocked well. Lots of blankets, pillows and kitchen essentials. -The owner was sweet and when I did speak with her she was easy to work with. The Not so Good: -Day 1 was stressful. Didn't get any communications via email or text instructions for entry into home on arrival. Finally decided to go and see if I could get in, which was successful but no 'welcome' folder with further details regarding locking the home, wifi, etc. I ultimately got in contact with owner but it was later that evening. -The downstairs where all the bedrooms are located needs renovation. So many doors in hallway leading to rooms, closets and bizarre spaces, just odd architectural details. My kids got spooked so we all ended up staying in one room! Typical 70's stylings, just needs updated. -Downstairs bedroom windows and doors are not all private because of lack of coverings on them. One lower window in a bedroom couldn't be closed and locked so it wasn't secure. -It was hot! No a/c or central fan so we used lots of provided portable fans but a/c would be a big plus. Overall, with some changes, this home would be phenomenal!

Thanks for your review. The whole home has actually been completely updated top to bottom. We chose to keep the mid century architectural details downstairs and throughout the house. Working on a solution for the AC, with all the changes in our world it sure does seem to be heating up in the northwest!

Very cool house with amazing Mount Adams and Colombia River views

Lovely house with awesome views. 20 min walk into town through lovely neighborhoods. Pictures really don’t do this house justice! Very cool house. Bedrooms on lower level stay nice and cool. We really enjoyed sitting on the deck overlooking Mount Adams. Would definitely stay here again.

Lovely stay

Loved this stay! The home is spacious and the view is spectacular. Truly everything you should need is there: TV, stereo, wifi, stocked kitchen, games, blankets, fans/space heaters…even coffee and tea if you forgot! Everything was clean and tidy. Easy walk to town or grocery store. Host was responsive and helpful. No issues whatsoever. Highly recommend!

Great everything

Great house (very well appointed) Great location (walking distance to town) Great view Great outdoor area (including a swing and a hammock downstairs and lounge area overlooking Hood River from the deck) Great hosts (very responsive and super nice) If a kiter or winger: great space to lay out gear to rinse it off, let it dry and prepare it for packing. Not to mention the garage space to keep it out of the sun in a cool spot. We couldn't have enjoyed ourselves more!!

Great view, margin Wi-Fi

We loved the house. Fantastic view of Mt. Adam’s from the patio. Responsive hosts. We had planned to work from the house but were getting 9 Mbps down, 0.5 Mbps up on the Wi-Fi. Fortunately we were able to get a free week at the co-working space above Ferment from a website called Deskpass.

Wonderful property - fabulous views - a great experience

We found this property to be really a wonderful experience. The house is a mid-century modern home with many original elements and all the important modernizations. Great updated kitchen (no microwave though) that was sufficiently stocked. The really winner was the living spaces that include wonderful builtin cabinets and shelves. It really makes the house live like a bigger property. The view is fabulous but so is the privacy. Both floors walk out to large terraced grass spaces and, while the front is open to the street, our dogs were very comfortable running around and since the yard is so large, there was no risk of them running into the road (they are better behaved then most however). Lisa was great about communication and clearly loves her property. We were in town for a wedding and as we left we agreed we plan to come back to Hood River and will plan a leasure trip around this properties availability... it was a great stay.

Walkability with a View

Short downhill walk to downtown. Less than a mile to the riverfront. Fantastic elevated deck with view of Mt. Adams to enjoy while eating your dinner or early morning coffee. Open floor plan on main level has an entire wall of full height windows. Very peaceful and quiet with lots of wildlife. 3 bedrooms on basement level share a full bathroom. No AC but even on hot days the bedrooms stayed cool and plenty of cross breeze upstairs with the windows. Would definitely stay here again with 5 total people or less.

Read before u stay

Hood River is gorgeous I used to live there. Period was so excited to come and stay.. I have rented more than 20 VRBO's in the last five years this was the most unclean period. But we still found ways to enjoy ourselves no problem the ant problem in the kitchen was annoying.. The fact the front door had no lock that worked and the wind on a windy evening was so powerful it blew the front door open several times we had to put a piece of furniture in front of it for the rest of the trip so we felt safe.. The owner didn't care

Lovely house

We had a great stay, the yard was wonderful for our kids to run around and there were lots of amazing books for them to read. The house and deck have an amazing view of the river and gets a great breeze. We had a lovely stay!
