Wonderful stay. If you've ever wondered about staying in an older home this is a great place. Updated where it needs to be, but also has 'antique' features, which was part of the charm. Very peaceful setting, comfortable, beds were comfy, just very enjoyable. Host was accommodating and communicative. No worries when booking or staying here. Highly recommend.

A home with history. We spent our initial 30 mins exploring the various vintage artifacts of the home. In the morning we woke up to beautiful misty scenes of farmlands filled with grazing cattle. And the statepark on the left of the home which is only 10 mins away offered fantastic fall views. Highly recommend for families wanting a calm vacation weekend

The house is set in beautiful rural countryside and furnished right out of the 1930s. It is impeccably clean and everything works as if it were brand new.Barb and Tony have done a fantastic job creating this house. Everything you need is here and if you need anything else they are just a phone call away. If you want peace and quiet and want to transport yourself back in time this is the place for you.

Lovely updated Farmhouse

All the charm of bygone days with the convenience of modern appliances and technology. Beautiful views in a quiet setting. Clean and comfortable, attentive hosts. Would stay here again.

The Tenant House at Shady Spring Farm was wonderful! We stayed there from July 2-6, 2026. This was an incredibly authentic house dating back 100 years. Yet, it had all the modern amenities we needed (including central AC). The house was very clean and inviting. The surrounding bucolic view was amazing! We were in the area for a July 4th BBQ...so glad we stayed there. Thank you Barb and Tony! We hope to be back next year. -Leslie A.

home away from home

Tony and Barb are wonderful. The house is beautiful and has everything you need. Comfortable beds and it's a very peaceful setting. This was our 2nd trip, and we will be coming back. Cowans Gap State Park is close, great restaurants and grocery store.

Great house

Just stayed for the weekend but the house was wonderful for our ski weekend. A great place to enjoy relaxing after a day on the slope. My husband is already talking about coming back in the spring so we could enjoy the quaint town nearby. Thanks again!

Peaceful

Great place to unwind. So peaceful! Decor is fabulous. Made me think we had stepped back in time to a simpler time and place. The home was clean, warm, and welcoming!

One-of-Kind

My family and I had an amazing time at the Tenant House. My kids (ages 7 and 9) were so fascinated by the beautiful antiques inside the house. Barb and Tony take great care of each detail and were very helpful. We would love to visit again!

Perfect, Peaceful Christmas

We spent two wonderful nights at the Tenant house after a week at Disney World. The peaceful farm was exactly what we needed after all the crowds and craziness. Barb and Tony took care of every detail to make our stay perfect including offering a Christmas Tree package that was perfect and beautiful. The house itself is warm and charming and half the fun is discovering all the details they have put into the restoration. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend a stay at the Tenant House!

Working with Wendy to create the perfect Christmas surprise for her family, and in particular her daughter Natalie, was so much fun. Knowing that our guests are able to slow down and enjoy their time together while being here on the farm is so rewarding. Thanks to Wendy and her family for being such enjoyable guests.

A peaceful getaway.

Everything about this listing is amazing, including the very hospitable and accommodating hosts :). Communication was swift and easy, the property was spotless and the (amazingly outfitted) kitchen well stocked with pots, pans, and small kitchen appliances one may require. The farm and the surroundings are quiet and peaceful and a stay here is really an opportunity to unplug. It really shows the hosts equally care about the property and their guests' comfort. We look forward to coming back here in the future!

We arrived after long drive to lights in warm immaculate home. Clean ample comfortable lines beds pillows. Toiletries left if need/shampoo soaps. I can't say enough to the detail manager pays attention to ensure stay pleasurable. 2nd time, will be a third.

absolutely wonderful

beautiful house with all the comforts of modern accommodations but with a splash of vintage enjoyment !! Owners have decorated this home beautifully. The house is absolutely immaculate. and the views are spectacular. Thoroughly enjoyed sitting on the front porch in the morning sipping coffee watching the cows , sheep, horses craze . Owners are very accommodating and helpful. Will most certainly come back when in need of a quiet retreat in the mountains !

Quiet and cozy!

Quiet and cozy! My husband and I stayed at the farmhouse for two nights, celebrating our 23rd wedding anniversary. This was right after Christmas so we were looking forward to a couple of days to recover from the busyness of the season. We weren’t disappointed! We got to drive into the mountains and do a little bit of hiking and had a wonderful dinner that evening. The second day, the weather did not cooperate so we enjoyed a wonderful quiet day watching movies inside. The house was quaint and cozy!

The house is adorably comfortable. It has been beautifully and lovingly decorated.Communication with the host was excellent! One of our party was quite elderly. She pointed out a couple of things which about the house might have presented issues. With advance notice, we were able to make plans to make their stay comfortable.
