Historic beachside home in charming Sunset Beach

Charming cottage in eclectic Sunset Beach, California. Out the front door and across the street you're on the sand in one of Orange County's finest beaches, celebrated in Beach Boys songs

Perfect for a couple, or a couple with up to two children, the cottage has a queen bed in the bedroom and a sleeper-sofa in the front room. Loveable kitchen fulfills all your cooking needs.

Rare in Sunset Beach, the house has a 20' by 20' outdoor space, grill and outdoor shower.

The house has one reserved parking spot right in front of the house by the front gate. In addition, Sunset Beach has two rows of public parking running the entire mile of the town.

Note: From October 2025 to November 2026 (with a break for Summer 2026), the Sunset Beach Sanitary District will be improving the sewer system under the greenbelt across from the cottage. This does not effect parking or beach access and is largely underground.

We absolutely loved our stay! The home is cozy, beautiful, comfortable, full of charm, and had everything we needed for a relaxing getaway. The location is fantastic—so close to the beach and perfectly situated for enjoying the wonderful Sunset Beach area. We felt at home from the moment we arrived (easy check in) and truly enjoyed every minute of our stay (easy check out!). The "home binder" was full of useful information too. We would happily return and highly recommend this lovely home!

Robert is an amazing host and we loved the property! It fit our little family of 3 perfectly and it was so nice to be so close to the beach and all the amazing places in Sunset. We have stayed at this cottage multiple times and for good reasons- location, location, location! So close to the beach and great restaurants are within walking/biking distance. The location is so close to the bike trail along the ocean and we love riding down to Huntington Beach and Newport Beach. Love the yard as a place to relax and listen to the ocean waves.

Perfect! This place is wonderful and in a great location - close to everything but quiet and literally steps to the beach. We had a small issue checking in, but Robert took care of it right away. I would stay here again and again!

Home was pleasantly quaint. Would’ve benefited from better window coverings so sleeping in would’ve been better. Shower was fun to navigate, really needed a more flexible shower head. Other than that, everything was better than expected. Would definitely recommend it and would book again.

There was a lot of construction going on and our shower and toilet started spewing water all over the bathroom floor. There were also three giant rats that we saw that kept us from enjoying the backyard. There was no AC, but the fans helped a lot. I ended up using the laundry mat nearby to clean the towels and our clothes after the toilet exploded. Overall there was great seasoning to cook with and we had a great time. I’d ask that there’d be more bathroom towels.

We always appreciate comments and are eager to have future guests informed about the property. Fortunately, the above-ground construction is over for the once-in-a-hundred years sewer project the city is finishing. We have no control over *outdoor* rats but fortunately this problem wasn't indoors. Our listing is clear that the cottage does not have air conditioning; no local property does, because everyone prefers the ocean breeze. Open up windows on opposite sides of the house and you'll get year-round ocean-fresh cooling. We provide four each of bathroom towels, hand towels, and washclothes. Quarterly, the Sanitary District "jets" the sewage once briefly to keep it from being backlogged. With the new municipal project finishing, that should be the end of that.
