We had a wonderful stay, the house was perfect for our extended family to come together in over the Thanksgiving weekend. The host was very responsive and welcoming, the house was clean, and everything was comfortable. This was far and away the best rental we have had for kids! I highly recommend for families. The stairs and fully carpeted and lead to a cozy and soft second living area in the basement that was great for a kids zone while the adults enjoyed the main living area upstairs. Our only complaint was that the fireplaces were not useable. The owner leaves instruction that the ceiling fan must be on and probably a door cracked before lighting the gas fire. This isn't ideal on a cold day but we followed all instructions and the house still filled with the smell of gas very quickly. We turned it off, opened all days and windows (it was 20 degrees out) and didnt use it again. I was incredibly disappointed by this but in the grand scheme of things it wasn't a huge deal. The other thing of note from the stay is that an amenity card to use to the pool or other spaces costs 5 per person per day. I highly recommend the house! I'm just sharing in hopes these insights are helpful to others.

Great Stay in Sapphire

We had a great 4 night stay at this clean, spacious, and well equipped property over July 4th. We enjoyed trips to Fairfield Lake and numerous restaurants nearby. The home had to living rooms perfect for large families and was well stocked with cooking utensils, glassware, etc. Excellent communication with the host as well. Would definitely recommend.

Beautiful, excellent property! Just as advertised!

The house was perfect for our family! It was soooo clean and had everything we needed. The house was exactly as it was advertised. It had the most beautiful view - the sunrises were awesome. The owner was pleasant to work with and let us know how things worked. The downstairs was great for our grands - they loved having a special place for children - their ages were 5 to 10 and in between.

Perfect New Year’s Weekend

Wonderful long weekend over New Year’s weekend. Karen’s home is beautiful…stocked with everything you need, a great location near Cashiers and fabulous hiking. We’ll hope to come again!

Beautiful Mountain Escape

We cannot say enough about the beauty of this property. The incredible views off the back porch while we enjoyed our morning coffee or at the end of the days by the fire pit were perfect. We loved the spacious living room with beautiful stone fireplace and large kitchen with everything we needed to prepare our Thanksgiving meal. The kids loved the downstairs living area fully stocked with any game you can think of! The owners have thought of everything a family might need. What a wonderful escape to be able to make memories and recharge.

Thanksgiving in the mountains

Our family had a wonderful stay in the mountains. What a fun way to spend Thanksgiving together this year. We had everything we needed to relax, have fun and enjoy nature. Plenty of space for kids to play and adults to relax! The kitchen was filled with everything we needed to bring our Thanksgiving day meal to life. The beds were very comfortable, and the bathrooms were clean and spacious. The showers felt great after a 5 mile hike at Gorges State Park. Thanks for a wonderful stay! Highly recommend this beautiful home and incredibly gracious host!

10/10 Trip!

The house was perfect - fabulous layout, well stocked, high end appliances, awesome washer/dryer, plenty of parking. You're right in the middle of everything - Lake Toxaway, Cashiers, Highlands - super easy drive. The resort amenities were a fabulous bonus! Karen the homeowner was extremely thorough and easy to get a hold off. Would 100% come back and rebook this house :-)

Wonderful stay at Bird Nest property

Perfect setting for our family gathering in this wonderfully appointed and spacious place. Loved the decks, view, mountain feel, and fully stocked kitchen and entire home. Kids loved making s'mores and there was plenty of seating both indoors and on the decks. Karen is a terrific owner/host who was always a text or call away with any questions and we hope to come back here again for another family gathering. Highly recommend.

Great for extended or multiple families

Grandparents, parents, and kids alike greatly enjoyed our week stay at this lovely mountain property. It was just as advertised, including the beautiful views and peaceful neighborhood. The sun shines bright on the back porch, giving you a warm spot to enjoy the start to your day even as cooler weather prevails on the front porch. We availed ourselves of the back porch’s fire pit for the kid-favorite roasting marshmallows, and found the fire pit easy and very pleasing. Inside gives you all the feeling of a luxe mountain cabin, but with lots of creature comforts. Stone features, wood themes, and fall and winter color palates, plus an abundance of throws and pillows reinforce the luxe mountain retreat vibe. The kitchen was well-stocked with essentials like cookware, utensils (even things like cheese knifes and wine charms), and things like tinfoil. We lacked nothing we needed for a week of making meals for between 5-9 people, including pantry space. The main level features an open-concept den, kitchen, and dining area, where the group assembled daily and spent most of our together time. Off the main area is a full master suite (with a huge closet) with its own spa-like bathroom and shower area. This room has its own balcony access to the same views as the back porch. Downstairs are the other three bedrooms, two with their own on suite bathrooms. This is super convenient for multiple family units (like grandparents and sibling families, like ours) to stay and each have their own space. Downstairs also has another family room and kitchenette for those times when someone needs their own space, there are competing tv shows, or board games get too loud for the rest of the group. Carpeted stairs with a half flight break, plus the provided gate, made it safe for the toddler among us. We found the beds and linens very comfortable. It could get colder in the rooms off the main space, but ample blankets were provided. While the property (and driveway and parking) is relatively easy to access, it is in a mountainous area. Probably for that reason, the wifi and the hot water required a little extra patience at times. It did not interfere with our enjoyment. The location is convenient to a grocery store and a handful of restaurants. As for the club amenities we had access to, our kids enjoyed playing mini golf, taking a dip in the heated pool, the playground, and the snow made by the club. All in all, a terrific mountain spot for a getaway!

Great stay in the mountains

We had a great family vacation. The house is beautiful. A short drive to local towns and still close enough to visit Ashville and Biltmore. The home has everything you need to have a great vacation.
