The view was beautiful. One of the best sunsets I have ever seen. Peter was exceptionally easy to contact. Very private and quiet location. Close to Frankfort, a cute town on Lake Michigan with a grocery store and fun shopping. Plenty of room for all of us to spread out inside and out.

We had a great vacation in upper Michigan this past week and this house fit our family’s needs perfectly. The house, the lot, the private and quiet street, and the lake were beautiful.

We had an amazing holiday weekend at Peter’s place! The house was clean, spacious, and in a perfect location close to all the up north attractions. Our family especially enjoyed spending time on the water with the kayaks provided. Peter was a fantastic, responsive host. we’d definitely come back again!

Quiet lake with lots of water toys

Thank you for hosting us. The weekend gateway was perfect. Away from the crowds but close to the charming town of Frankfort for dinning and shopping. Very quiet lake and the paddle boards, kayaks and a canoe were a hit. The place was clean, and the beds were comfortable.

Lakeside Respite

A wonderfully relaxing place to stay. It is very quiet and the lake is beautiful. The kayaks, canoes, and paddle boards kept us busy. Good location for taking road trips in the area. We visited Traverse City, Sleeping Bear Dunes, Point Betsie Lighthouse and many of the towns in between. We travelled with 6 people and had plenty of space for everyone.

Great stay

Weather was not in our favor, but we enjoyed our stay. Beautiful lake and close to Frankfort. Place was very clean and had everything that was advertised. Only negative was the main floor bathroom the toilet did not flush the best. Had to use the upstairs restroom more.

Location of house was great, great views of the sunset from back porch. House was nice, plenty of room. There were a couple of issues but owner was very quick to respond and get resolved. I was surprised there were no mosquitoes, we didn't see any which was really great.Water in the house tasted a little off so recommend getting bottled or a way to filter it. Lake water was very clear but there is a fair amount of plant life. We rented a boat so would swim in deeper water but if swimming around the dock you will see and feel it. Overall, we had a great time and really enjoyed ourselves.

Love the lake view

This is the second property we've rented from Turner Properties. We love the fact that we have a lake right in front and can kayak or canoe any time we wanted. Our biggest issue was the fruit flies. They were pretty bad this time and we did everything we could to get rid of them. Pete was very accommodating when we wanted to check in a little earlier in the day, which we appreicated. We hope to do this again in the future!

Glad you had a nice stay overall. I was 5 min away and could have solved the fruit fly issue had I known. Boiling water in the kitchen drain, vacuum, and apple cider vinegar traps. We are in orchard country, and fruit flies mulitply fast in September. Love to have you all back. Thanks.

Week away

Very nice property, and secluded. The door from the LR to porch did not line up, so it was difficult to close. Suggest that you add (for those of us who recycle) that there is recycling available in Frankfort, single stream. Folks don't NEED to go there, but good to know if people want to make the extra effort to recycle.

Stunning View!

My parents, husband and 3 children under the age of 9 all enjoyed staying at this property. It had everything we needed. Downstairs is a substantial King bed suite with attached bathroom. Upstairs is a Queen bedroom, a full bathroom, a bedroom with bunk beds and a queen bed and a loft for playing games or just relaxing. The real gem of this place is the backyard which sits beautifully on the lake and a dock for the kids to jump off of and swim. The property is wonderfully private and remote. The lake is sleepy and has the best sunsets. We rented a pontoon boat and took the kids tubing and water skiing. We spent a day at Sleeping bear dunes which is a must and another day exploring Frankfort. Frankfort is an adorable little town with shopping, restaurants and ice cream and has the most beautiful beach and even more stunning sunset. Our drive was 13min to town and about 40min to Sleeping Bear Dunes. We loved our location and proximity to exploring the town and everything northern MI has to offer. We will definitely return!!

We stayed at Property #195740 on Upper Herring

Where do I even begin?! The owner Peter was great was from the beginning to the end. He greeted us upon arrival and made us feel right at home. He showed us all of the local attractions and gave us a tour of the Lake House so that we felt comfortable during our stay. He was very quick with responding to emails and answering our questions. The Lake House was absolutely stunning! It was perfect for a weekend vacation. We wish we could have stayed longer and did not want to leave. The house was clean, kitchen was fully stocked, bathrooms very clean and full stocked, the beds were super comfortable. The kids loved their beds as well! Our children enjoyed everything this Lake House had to offer. The house came stocked with games. Every room had a TV equalized with Netflix, Hulu. Although we had so much enjoying nature that we barley watched it haha. We were able to Kayak and Canoe provided by the owner of the Lake House. The house sits right on the lake so every morning you could see the sun glistening over the water. The birds chirping. We enjoyed s’mores on the fire pit provided by the Lake House as well at night time. We enjoyed a nice hike about 15 min as well! If you are looking for a getaway with your family and children(toddlers included!) Property#195740 on Upper Herring Lake is the place to go! Definitely deserving of all 5 stars! Thank you for an incredible stay and we look forward to coming back again!

A mixed review

We had mixed feelings about our stay. The house space is fine, the rooms are large and the layout works well. There is a nice large kitchen table that does not appear in the online pics. The backyard water front was relaxing, the various water toys were fun and as others have said, the lake is quiet with little boat traffic. Our negative issues had to do with cleanliness and maintenance. We’ve shared much of this with Peter. Many kitchen things were dirty. With three families all bringing food, we took care of it ourselves not wanting to wait for someone to come and clean. While they look great in the pics, nearly every upholstered piece of furniture in the kitchen and great room was very dirty – it’s been a long time since they were cleaned. Due to well water, the inside of the washer and soap dispenser, dishwasher, showers and the shower liners were all heavily stained. The kitchen and bathroom fixtures are old and the kitchen ones leaked. The white towels used in the bathrooms were also stained yellow and some had holes in them. Not shown in the online pics is an extension to the dock which is great. Unfortunately, it's slanted and part of itis under water. The A/C unit was not working well. We told Peter on Fri. and on Sat. he said it would be replaced. We've rented homes for 12 years. We paid $806/night for this house and at that level, we don't expect problems. With proper attention to cleaning and maintenance, our issues could have easily been avoided.

We are premier hosts with not a single cleanliness issue in the last 4 years. AC fixed, we fixed this as soon as possible, new coil and freon. New kitchen faucet, while the sofa is not "heavily stained" we installed a new one in lieu of steam cleaning. Dock leg settled in the sand, dock is now level again. Cleanliness issue involved crumbs in the fridge and a single hair in the bathroom. We have 24 new white towels, they were inadvertently switched by the cleaning service with towels that are not ours. We live 5 minutes away and could have cured most of these issues in the moment. Offered guest compensation for AC.

So much to do, so little time!!!

We had a GREAT time at this house on Upper Herring lake - fishing, pontooning, skiing, golfing, eating, gaming, shopping and sightseeing - so much to do! We had our "all adults" family of my wife and I, our son and his wife and our daughter and her soon-to-be fiance - and everyone loved the house and all the activities available to do around Frankfort. The weather was awesome each day (low 60's, high 70's) and we ran out of time to do all the things we had on our list of to-do's (didn't get to go biking or hiking). The house is SO comfortable and the neighborhood is extremely quiet - we ate breakfast on the back porch, played games at the dining room table, played yard games in the back yard, watched the sunset from the Adirondack chairs and just generally relaxed and enjoyed northern Michigan. Played Arcadia Bluffs golf course - words can't describe it - you need to see/play it yourself to understand just how awesome the setting is and good the golf course is - easily top 50 in the country if not better! Followed a lot of the recommendations for dining on the list of restaurants posted in the house and none disappointed - especially liked The Glenwood in Onekuma and Birch & Maple in Frankfort - GREAT dinners! Rented a pontoon from McDonald Marine and went fishing on Lake Michigan with Captain Eric Andersen. Just a great trip - before grandkids start coming along - for our six adults making lasting memories! Highly recommend this house as your home base for a trip to the Frankfort, MI area.

Awesome week

Wonderful comforitable house with all listed provisions in great condition and well stocked pantry and supplies. The owner Pete answered questions immediately and couldn't have been more accommodating. Spent most of the days at nearby Lake Michigan beaches and evenings using all the watercraft on the lake and campfires. Good combination location for inland lake and lake Michigan experiences for young grandsons. Great week to spend family time.
