Historic Mountain House close to skiing & outdoor adventures

The original home built in 1935 has been added on and updated. The great room features a wall of windows with a great view of the mountains and a wood-burning stove. The floors a bit uneven in spots and there is only one bathroom, with a small shower. Large fenced back yard with hot tub and fire pit (pending fire ban). We have tried to create a tranquil mountain retreat to enjoy nature and get away from the hustle of everyday life.

Gorgeous views and quaint little town. This house had everything we needed to feel at home. Super comfy couch and hammock chairs. The hot tub was our saving grace after hikes!

A beautiful location and charming little house! It's clean, well-appointed, comfy, cozy, and just delightful. The hot tub is hot. The wood-burning stove burns wood. The setting is unmatched.

Comfortable cozy convenient with everything you need including a beautiful Mountain View from the hot tub. It looks small when you pull up but it isn’t and they have made get use of all the space. Definitely would stay again and look forward to it ! Empire is a great little community too!

Loved this house! Best stocked and equipped we have ever stayed. Deserves much higher than highest allowed rating. Anything I thought at first was missing - I was wrong - I just needed to open my eyes and there it was. All the small details to make a stay more comfortable that are normally not found were in this house. And the hot tub set up is wonderful! Great Wifi also. The only thing to be aware of if you come from an area known for super-sized AC, there is no AC here so be aware of that for summer stays. There are fans and we were here when it was mostly cooler so wasn't bad and we knew from the listing description about no AC, so also brought some little fans. And in the morning and evening the breeze blowing thru just a couple open windows is wonderful ! Would love to come back here!

The mountain view from the living room is amazing! We woke up every morning to a beautiful sunset. The house is so cozy, and we took full advantage of using the wood burning fireplace. The extra little ambiance!!!The location was a perfect distance to snow skiing at Loveland Ski Resort. It only took 20 minutes. And, Denver was less than an hour away.

Cozy place, gorgeous view!

Came from Michigan for a Red Rocks concert and this cabin was the perfect cozy and comfortable stay with beautiful mountains in view. We saw a group of big horn sheep a half mile from the cabin!

Ski touring Jones Pass

Property was wonderful. Great space and the fenced in yard was perfect for the dogs. The fire pit, outside game space and hot tub were also great for apres ski. Big living room for relaxing. The house is tight for 5 or 6 adults with only one bath. Perfect for four adults or a family of 5 or 6.

Sublime and cozy

They thought of everything, but you still feel like you are at the "cabin". Private, views for days. Casino denver and a basin all within 30 minutes. Sweet hosts, insanely responsive. Hot tub at 104 and clean. Dont stay here ;)

Views for Miles

This was one of the best VRBO's I've stayed at. Super clean, nicely decorated and complete with all the amenities you could need. The owner's have thought of everything. Super fast internet, comfortable bed and a really good hot tub. The neighborhood was very quiet (which to me was a good thing). Sitting on the deck enjoying the views and listening to the wildlife was just what this city slicker needed. Thank you for sharing your wonderful property!

Snowboard Trip

Had a great stay overall. The place is beautiful has great amenities. My only complaint is the level of cleaning required for checkout when I’m already paying for a cleaning fee. Doing dishes by hand, emptying the ashes in the fireplace, treating the hottub with chemicals after use. I just feel like if I’m paying all this money for a cleaning fee that stuff should not be my job. That being said the place was beautiful and very nice. The owners provided a lot of extras as well.

Amazing home!

We just spent the weekend at this mountain house and it was amazing! We live in the foothills of Colorado but love to take a weekend getaway each winter to ski at Loveland with our teenage children. This was by far the best home we have found. We will be hoping to stay here every year from now on! It is so clean, so beautiful, so accommodating and a perfect location, beautiful views, the bedding was so comfortable. Really about everything was perfect. We didn't leave the house, only to ski and come back to cook dinner and play games. We had the best time! My husband loved the wood burning stove and hot tub, our kids loved the Keurig to make their own hot chocolate, I loved the kitchen and the ease of getting dinner ready and the rock garden in the back yard. So cool! We left there wishing we were the owners! The living space was so cozy, we stayed there all night without any desire to be anywhere else. It really was so great! We highly suggest staying here!

I am a licensed Real Estate Agent in Colorado, and my husband is a recently retired Operations manager with the FAA. We just had our first grandchild in 2022 and have another expected in May 2023!
We purchased our Mountain getaway home in 2020. We thought it would be the perfect place for our family to gather and enjoy the mountains. With life as busy and chaotic as it is, we cannot enjoy it as much as we would like. So, we decided to let others enjoy the property as well!

Por qué eligió esta propiedad

It is the perfect location! It is tucked away in a small community in a valley with spectacular mountain views all around you. Big private backyard, small hot tub, horseshoe pit, deck, fire pit (when there is no fire ban), and cornhole boards for backyard fun!
You are 20 minutes to the closest skiing, Arapaho Basin and Loveland, and about 45 minutes to Winterpark (given you must drive up Berthoud Pass). White water rafting is just minutes away, and an adventure park with ziplining and other fun too! The Georgetown Loop railroad is just 10 minutes away, Gold Mining tour and museum are in Idaho Springs, just 15 minutes away. It is the perfect landing spot. You can even take an epic hike by walking out the front door. Jeep clubs meet at the park down the street from us, as the jeeping in the area is also pretty impressive.
Suppose you are looking for a romantic getaway; it's that as well! We have had multiple couples come to stay with us for their honeymoons and even had one couple elope on the property. The views from the living room are lovely.

Qué distingue a esta propiedad

We added a new shower, put in a new washer and dryer, a new fence, a parking area, and a deck since we purchased the home. You are on a residential street and can walk to the Brewery, Dairy King, or Dispensary. The barn out back is historical and used to be a Blacksmith Shop and was on the property before the home was. The original portion of the home was said to have been moved onto the property in 1935, and it is said that it was an infirmary for a local mine. It was then added on at some point to include a bathroom and two bedrooms. Another addition was then added to include a vaulted great room/living room with a wall of windows and another bedroom. The home is not large, but it is much larger than it appears from the street.
