Chapman Point House - beauty, history and modernity all in one.

Perched on the bluffs of Mendocino Bay and directly facing Mendocino Village, Chapman Point House delivers a view that artists and sight-seers have coveted for decades straight to the comfort of your living room. Constructed in 1963 by a professor of architecture, every room has a stunning ocean and Mendocino view. The house is framed with awe-inspiring 150-year-old hand-cut giant redwood beams (reclaimed trestle) and the flooring is 3" thick maple from a San Francisco bowling alley. Modern furnishings combined with a beautiful Redwood slab dining table and bar help make the house warm and inviting.

The combination of rustic and modern elements makes this a truly unique and special place. The main living area features a panoramic ocean view through which you'll be mesmerized by the ocean waves during the day and the twinkling lights of Mendocino at night.

Stay in and cook in the fully equipped kitchen or sample some of the many fine restaurants in Mendocino. This house has a primary bedroom with a king bed and full bathroom. The second room is a queen bed with a full bathroom. Chapman Point is also directly adjacent to Spring Ranch Park, letting its guests explore miles of beautiful headlands and meadows sprawling all the way to Van Damme Beach. Whale-watch, bird-watch, hike, go tide-pooling or picnicking for hours, and it's just steps from your front door. There is also a ChargePoint EV charger available to guests. Beautiful view getaway

We took advantage of the thorough and helpful guide materials that were provided. Only a short drive to Mendocino but we spent most of our time at the house admiring the view.

Wonderful House, Views & Location!

The house was breathtaking, and so were the views. Being next to the trailhead to Spring Ranch Nature Preserve was an added surprise! Was a treat to be close to town, yet the property provided the privacy we were hoping for. The house was stocked with all you can need. Morning coffee on the deck and evenings by the fire will be hard to beat anywhere with that view. Thank you for having us!

Great stay on the coast

Wonderful house full of architectural character and big windows framing spectacular views of the coast and Mendocino. The technology worked great (TV, internet, cell service) as did the hot tub. The grounds are well kept and the neighborhood was quiet and convenient to town. Highly recommend.

Chapman point house

This home was love at first sight for us, a rustic beauty with huge Timbers In the livingroom , a nice kitchen with all you would need to cook whatever you wish,a big deck off the back with a sunken hot tub, and a million dollar view of mendo village in the distance, quiet and peaceful, staying here is a incredible experience, I highly suggest it.

Only issue was having cone filters for our basket filter coffee pot. Not a big deal.

Amazing views

Views and location were better than we could have imagined. The only suggestions we have are on the bed size in the second bedroom. A double bed does not fit 2 tall people. Not sure why they did not put a queen in there.

Amazing in every way

This house is truly amazing! Words or photos cannot accurately describe. Unfortunately l, Mother Nature had some big fun just prior to our arrival. Cindy, The property manager, went above and beyond to communicate with us about power outage and road conditions before we arrived. Due to the storm we almost didn’t make it- but I’m so glad we did. Staying at this property was really a once in a lifetime adventure!

Mendocino rentals left little toys and treats for our little puppy and they also put up a happy anniversary sign. Little things butvthey made the trip so.mich more special. Made us feel very welcome. The house was very clean. We are already planning our trip back.

Chapman House Rental

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The location of the house was wonderful. It had great privacy. Enjoyed the hot tub. I left a long list of maintenance that needs to be done to the house. The hot tub lid was waterlogged and impossible for old women to get on and off!! Needs a bar for easy lifting. The inside ficus tree is toxic to dogs and leaves were falling constantly. Should not be in house that is dog friendly. The house was clean (except for under one bed) and plenty of cookware. Wonderful stay.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The rental agency did a fantastic job coordinating the rental (as usual); they are always knowledgeable, professional, responsive, and friendly. The house, however is showing major signs of wear and tear; I've stayed there before in years past and it looks and feels very neglected. It's a beautiful property, I just wish they would upgrade some things (the master bathroom is particularly worn down). It's still a great stay, but the cost wasn't inline with the property's condition.

Stunning location with amazing views

Just a beautiful, peaceful place! We loved the story of building the home using so many recycled materials – windows, floors, beams. Sitting on the deck listening to the ocean is tonic for all everyday cares. We did not have the chance to cook due to the proximity of the town and the wonderful restaurants there, but the kitchen seemed well equipped. Yes, some fixtures are a bit dated but that pales in comparison to the benefits of the beautiful location and the wrap around windows with views of the ocean and town. One thing we would recommend is to download your instructions before you get to town. We had to drive around town to get enough bars to get the instructions to the lockbox, as we arrived after the office closed. Overall, just a spectacular stay in a glorious location.

August stay at Chapman House.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: House architecture is interesting however does not project a warm welcoming feeling. Furniture outdated. Lots of dark wood used on the inside (depressing). Strong moldy smell throughout the house (pretty bad). Bed cover had stains. Not enough privacy especially if using the hot tub.

Beautiful stay, but with issues

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Everything about this place is beautiful! It is our second time staying here, and the architecture lends itself to enjoying nature whether it be looking out the beautiful windows at the trees or relaxing on the deck overlooking the ocean. We had one complaint, and that is that the hot tub did not work when we arrived, and that was going to be the highlight of our trip. We looked so forward to it. Since we only stayed three nights, we only had two full days, and we had to spend the majority of one of them on the phone and waiting for the hot tub guy to come by twice, so that day was a wash, and we were not refunded for one of our lost days (giving up,our time). We also only got to enjoy the hot tub for one of the days, and it still did not heat up properly. Other than the hot tub issue, everything else was great, and Mendocino Preferred is very responsive. They also have a beautiful welcome when you arrive.

Location and view were amazing. Linens need upgrade.

The property is absolutely magical. The architecture of the building and how it is positioned on the land with the flora, fauna and the views of Mendocino and the Ocean is second to none. For the price of the rental the linens were old, severely pilly and scratchy to sleep on. In the 2nd bedroom the pillows were rock hard and we were unable to sleep on them (they are decorator pillows not sleeping pillows). It would be convenient to be able to pick up the keys at the property instead of having to drive into town to find them and then having to drop them off again. Modern technology easily affords check in at the property.

This is one of those homes that is clearly loved with nice artwork and super comfortable couches and beds. The kitchen has every gadget you'd want. And the view is spectacular.
